The Headmasters - Takara -

Postby NiteStar » Fri Jan 04, 2008 12:18 am

Weapon: Null-Ray Rifle
Well I just got the DVD Set for X-mas as a gift, Imported from Austrailia. I was really looking forward to it too. And I was SOOO Disapointed!
Its so Poorly done! The english voice acting is Horrible! The Personalities are so flat with no Dynamics.
it's like this.......
---------------
Rodimus Prime: Were gonna get you
Galvatron: Oh Darnet what do we do now.
Wheelie"Ha yay your silly
Galvatron:ok well lets retreat.
Rodimus Prime: Ok good lets go home now.
----------------
For real!Word for word almost!
It's horrible All the personalities of the characters are gone and replaced with baby dialouge. Galvatron isnt even Mean anymore. I cant stand Wheelie, Blurr and Daniel. The Japanimation character influence is awfull. They talk silly to eachother.
The American Transformers was much more Sophisticated with adult-like grammar. Very Shakespearean and almost poectic. The personalties had so much more Depth and passion and Dynamic.I dont even think that Takara's Animation is all "that" much different to be better. The episodes are so simplistic that they over so quickly. Im almost left feeling like...."thats it? It's over? What actually happened? Where was the conflict? There was no Struggle.!"
I'm glad I own it now but I was so hoping for more.

There is only one rule to remember with any of the Takara Transformers series (Headmasters, Masterforce, Victory) - ONLY WATCH WITH SUBTITLES, DO NOT WATCH WITH DUB. Period, no discussion. The subtitles are much better and worthwhile and I don't want to hear any complaints about not wanting to read when you watch a program. :)

Exactly, use the power of reading, that will distroy the forces of sillyness by %50, I think!
The most stupid parts will then be Sixshot being Daniels new best friend :?
The Transformers working out in a gym, and Spic actually thinking that he could talk Galvatron out of being evil....

But "Sparkle" wouldnt' exist if not for the English dub  . Still, I thought Victory was actually decent voice-acting wise, besides the Fixit/Stakeout mix-up, though that could be because I had no prior "expectations" to what the voices or characterization would be like.

I'm not a Mod.

And it's easy enough to check....

UGH, you got them started...

The english subtitles on HeadMasters MasterForce and Victory, where just fast done and slip shot, they are far from professional.

Basicly they're only good for people who don't speak Japanesse, and don't have time to read TV.

They give you the jist while you're moving along with what you have to do.

Now as for the poor artwork in HeadMasters, yeah it made me feel like I was in a dirty flea market full of dingy cheap merchandise. Also, why is Fort Max acting like Voltron!?!

MasterForce was alot better (and even used some of Fort Max's guns). Victory, I'm sorry, but I think it's overrated, I just can't get into it.

It's cool that MadMan is showing these series some love, but realy if you have a region free DVD player, you could pick up all three series with the same crappy du for a fraction of the price. The boxes are super generic, but screw it, I got all 3 for $25 shipping included.

Good enough for me, till they(and it'll never happen) get us a professional dub, cause I don't care, I have no time for subtitles, or learning Japanesse.

I picked up the Metrodome versions of Headmasters, Masterforce, Victory and (apparently) Zone. They're great if you just really want more G1 stories. I was on the fence, but as Masterforce costs around 500 US dollars here in Japan, importing the entire Takara collection for about 1/10th of that was a no-brainer.

I've got a copy of Masterforce. The english dub on mine is good, believable even. The other language is chinese, though. I might have a bootleg version.

The same dub where they call Ginrai "Optimus Prime?" Yep. Bootleg.
