I hope that's this year's Season Premiere. Blue Harvest is arguably the greatest Family Guy ever, and right behind that, PTV. There are other great ones, but those two are at the top of my list.
Anyway, I think Family Guy is getting stupider. The stories are sometimes simplistic and usually forgotten, if there is even a story for that episode. Cutout gags really are becoming more rampant. Yet I still watch, and I still laugh. It's dumb, lobrow humor, but it's fun.

The show was great up to that point.

Yeah. You remember how Peter would savagely beat the chicken? Or that cutaway where he was Marry Poppins and ended up crushing two small children? Or when Stewie repeatedly mauled Brian for $50, then Brian pushed Stewie in front of a bus? Or when Stewie killed "New Brian" and threw him in the trash and made it look like suicide? Or any of the other countless acts of violence in the show? No, a cat getting killed is a big deal.
