I kind of see these activities with human super villians as the Autobots--who were not warriors previous to this (except Ratchet who is a medic bot not a field general)-- warm up, their training, because if they acted like they do against the cons, overconfident, individual desires over team goals, stupid tactics, thickheadedness... the Decepticons would smoke them...EASILY.

I enjoyed this one for its fun value, and the origin of the rocket packs that have been seen with the BB toy. BB pointing out Prowl's blending in flaw, etc. Megatron's characterization is still cool.

And the writers still throw in a sense of humor.

Nanosec to Prime: "Are you nuts???"

Prime to Nanosec: "Yes actually, nuts and bolts..."

It was funny at the time. :D

Ratcher to BBee: "Get your nano processor out of your exhaust pipe!"

I still am not sure I like seeing the arms just 'sprout' from the innards of the vehicle to grab things, etc. :-?

Eh, I've never minded filler episodes. And these poor 'Bots need some practice indeed before the Cons show up. I'm glad it's not the same exact story in every episode. And I like how light-hearted the show can be.

I don't know. Some G1 episodes that most people hate I find very entertaining. "Child's Play", as dumb as it is, always makes me laugh out loud. It's so silly. And it's nice that this show is also not incredibly dark....though I think it WILL be later on. It's just taking its time before plunging itself into all out war.

That is so true! But I am ready to watch the Cons clean their clocks.... It'd mess with the story and continuity and all, but a girl can dream right? ;)

Saw "Nanosec" and I have to say, I've rarely seen villian alias that was as... cornball. Nino Sexton? Come on, even Meltdown's alias was better than that. Oyi.

Though it was good to see Megatron using Sumdac's resources in an attempt to restore his functionality. Too bad it failed; hopefully when BA, Blitzwing, and Lugnutz finally show up (and Lord, we all know it's taking WAY too long for that), he won't have to rely on "second string humans."

Well, hey, on the bright side, the next new episode's supposed to have a 'Con in it. Of course... that's after Total Meltdown and Blast from the Past show again... but... still?

As for myself, I enjoyed Nanosec, despite the urge to smack Sari and Bumblebee upside the head quite a few times... but even that was a good thing, 'cos it amuses me.

Then again, I'm easily amused.

I agree 100%...She's the only Con in the line-up that appears to be an afterthought, IMHO! I wanna see some REAL Cons, but at this point, even a lowly little Con would wipe out ALL those wimpy Autobots!

Whatever, this show has the heart, even thought the art flat out sucks, but realy, they need to pick up the pace!

Sorry, but I watch TRANSFORMERS for TRANSFORMERS, humans have always been the worst part of the show. I don't see why they should exclude a whole faction to include more of what since the beginig we've been demanding less of!

I can understand Megatron manipulating them to get his body back, but making that the focus of the series thus far just sucks.

They could have just have easily had the Bots fighting Cons, while megs did his thing in the backround getting ready to reimerge and rule ass over everyone!

Again, I like the nonhuman episodes, and this show does have heart, but thats not enough!

This is just lazy.

well it's possible :-?

I wasn't crazy about the Dinobot ep myself, but that's mainly due to me preferring the comic version of them; and I enjoyed BW about as much as G1 (it is what brought me back to the fandom, besides this site) so I may be biased..

I'ld be curious to hear what you think of it when it does come out NiteStar. If it helps at least animated BA is not BW's BA

I think there pace is good, if not a little slow, for there target audience. It drives home that the autobot roster is not ready to take on a team of Decepticons, when a single one almost does them in. Even humans seem to pose a credible threat. 1st episode Megs would have slaughter this team if the fight wasn't compromised by Starscream. If Starscream was focused on killing the Autobots over getting the allspark, he could have picked them off one at a time.

There playing up the Decepticons as too big a threat for the Autobots to handle back to back let alone as a group. And given the alternative viewing, there not likely to loose there target audience. I expect them to milk this series for a good 3 seasons if not 4.

Two seasons is a no brainer with a movie sequel in the works... :-B

I never understood this mindset.

I mean I never see TMNT fans moaning that there's rats, people, aliens and many mutants that are neither teenage, ninjas or turtles.

Like many shows, the name descibes the main stars, but it's about how they interact in the world, which is full of interesting characters that are not them.

Personally, I think humans are a great addition.
Some are interesting characters, others allow us to see a side of Transformers we wouldn't normally see.

I mean take G1.

The cartoon gave us enegron cubes, so humans (in that context) only ever existed to run away from invading Decepticons.
The comic gave us TF's that ran off converted oil, and saw the Autobots offering exclusive protection to an oil tycoon in exchange for that.
Like the tycoon or not, Autobots that ran protection rackets or at best, charged for protection, were more interesting.

Same with Animated.

Instead of same old generic robot battles that could take place anywhere for all the involvement the earth and it's people have, Animated is actually already affected by it greatly.

We already know the Autobots are weak, but they're becoming part of the city, caring about it, and the people, their neighbours.

I'd much rather see Autobots fight to protect something because of what it means to them than fight just 'cos they're Autobots and that's what Autobots do.

Cheap and easy soundbites that suggest a dedication to protecting a race they interact with about as much as we do with insects is lazy.

Building it up and giving the Autobots actual purpose, building the series around the effect they have on humanity and humanity has on them is not.

At least not in my opinion.

My opinion has not changed. Less fleshlings and more Autobots waging their battle to destroy the evil forces of the Decepticons!

See I figure it this way, you can have suped up humans in this show, they'd make a great side line as to how Megs gets rebuilt.

However, focusing on them and side stepping a faction that is half of the equasion, well, you're taking away half of whats good about this show.

Keep in mind, not all fans watch for the Autobots!

As for the TMNT refrence. If they came froma TMNT world, I bet people would feel the same way about the rats aliens and so on, but fact of the matter is, they didn't. They are unique in a everyday world and just happen to find aliens ninjas rats and so on...

Focus on the bots, ALL THE BOTS, leave the germs as the sideline.

Yes, Lycantendencies got my own opinion completely in one here.

I find the TF fan attitudes towards human characters in general sort of baffling. If we are going to have a Transformers show on Earth, then I expect Earth and its humans to have a *point* instead of just a glorified backdrop. And Animated has done a better job so far of integrating humans usefully than most of the older series.

We could circumvent the matter entirely by having a series set solely on Cybertron, and that would probably make for a great pure-SF series. But it would also completely negate Hasbro's whole "Robots that are Earth vehicles in disguise!" selling point of the toys, so I'm afraid that's probably never going to happen.

So yes. As far as I'm concerned, score one point for not being yet another setup in the completely-overplayed-by-this-decade B-Movie concept where the monsters duke it out and the humans are squish fodder. I'd rather *pro*gress in storytelling, not *re*gress.

Do they say who BA originally was?

Is it Arcee?

Liege Evilmus wrote:As for the TMNT refrence. If they came froma TMNT world, I bet people would feel the same way about the rats aliens and so on, but fact of the matter is, they didn't.

You really think so?

See, I don't buy it.

TMNT and Transformers was about these uniuque creatures living on Earth with humans. It was like that since day one.

They were both given histories that said there were others like them and allowed for new character introductions later on, so TMNT fans knew there were potentially many other mutants, and we saw some, but they didn't then want it all about mutants and nothing else.
So why do TF fans?

Why do they buy into a show about alien robots on Earth, then almost immediately cry out for alien robots with little to no human interaction?

Why not just buy into something that IS just about robots with no human interaction?

And let's say Transformers HAD started as a show solely about a race of alien robots with absolutely no human involvement at all.
Would you not want it to grow and develop?

I loathe 90% of Beast Wars toys with a passion, but the series took the Trasnformers mythos and expanded it, built on it.
The base concept was there, but it grew naturally, evolved, instead of just repeating G1 year 1 over and over and over.
They didn't abandon the old, there was just new stuff too.

I don't see how that's a bad thing.

*Edit*

I do give you your point about the Decepticons though, but we already had Lockdown, we're getting BA, and Megs' prescence is almost constant.
Oh, and Starscream doiminated the first 3 episodes.

I still am not sure I like seeing the arms just 'sprout' from the innards of the vehicle to grab things, etc. :-?

I think I recall seeing a pic of Bumblebee's toy showing that it can actually do this. It's kind of a side effect of the transformation but I think that's why the show uses the arm out of the side of the vehicle thing so much. It's actually toy accurate.

Overall the episode was OK, but yeah the ones with human villains have been less impressive than the others. However I don't think there should be no humans. It would be good writing/character-building if they do start with the Autobots fighting human supervillains and gradually getting more skillful and be able to take on one decepticon or more.

Something like:
first half of season 1 - autobots fight many humans and a couple of decepticons
2nd half of S1 - fight some humans some single decepticons (with Megs getting back in the game at the end)
S2 - fighting very few humans, mostly decepticons (and decepticons fighting as a more organised group under megs/starscream's leadership). So the threat level builds up.

Basically what I'm saying is I can stand the humans as long as they get phased out :)

Oh yeah, and that aging thing seemed really nasty. Didn't like the guy but what a horrible thing to do, Bumblebee kinda makes the guy age from 20 something to 80 years old (well I guess he only does the 50-80 part), and taunts him while doing it. When he comes back in a later episode I wonder who he'll hate more, Megatron or Bumblebee?

I can't spell his name, I keep ending up with Kleatus Kassady.
And for me the Symbiote has no personality, it's been with Clet since its been born and basecly took over his joy for killing, also Carnage refears to himself as I, so I think the bond between them is so strong that there is just Carnage. So for me if I speak about Carnage, I refer to the host as Carnage too.
And besides Carnage rules!

The Symbiote for Carnage was highly unstable. That's why it has all the little... tendrills for lack of anything better to call them, sticking out all the time while Venom's is smooth agenst the host.

And you're right, Carnage does refer to himself as I but he's just insaine. Another side effect of his/their unstable mind(s) no doubt.

The other nice little trait about Carnage that he seems to be able to do but not Venom is Carnage actully morphs weapons around his hands.
