Actually computers do use that sound to "talk" to each other. So I could totally see pre earth transformers speaking in various squek beep static etc... noises.

We started up a BESM campaign last night in which I'm playing a Transformer. Having just seen the new Die Hard at the dolar theater, my first quote after slicing something open with my energy sword was "bah weep granna mother f'er" :grin:

Big Eyes Small Mouth....sorta like D and D, but with less restrictive rules, and it works every anime cliche into one system. The other characters were running are a Trigun Style gunslinger, a darkness powered demon guy, and a power ranger. There's a lot of expansions, but you can probably find most of the game mechanic info online, it's been out of print for a long time.

To make the Transformer I just gave my character the "Own a giant robot" skill, then upgraded the 'bot to full sentience. It's actually valid by game rules without twisting anything.
