The Victory Manga: Strangest Transformer story ever?

Postby Duke of Luns » Fri Oct 26, 2007 10:31 am

I was looking up Star Saber on the Transformers Wiki today, and learned of some very intersting things in the Victory Manga:

From the Deathsaurus page:

As a parallel to Star Saber's adoption of Jan, Deathsaurus had a "son" of his own, a human boy named Solon. Solon's mother was killed during a Decepticon attack on Earth, and who Deathsaurus "adopted", turning him into a cyborg and raising him to believe that he was his son. Solon had frequent clashes with Jan, whose school he began attending, which often degenerated into "my dad can beat up your dad"-style arguments as their "fathers" battled. At one point, Deathsaurus even attempted to bribe Jan into joining the Decepticons with toys, games, candy and cash.

Solon had his own battle armour and often rode Deathsaurus's Breastars as steeds, but when Victory Leo and Star Saber merged into Victory Saber, Deathsaurus sought a way to increase his own power in a similar fashion and crafted a Transformer-sized mech for Solon named King Solon, with which he was able to combine, forming King Zaras. However, in the midst of this battle, Solon discovered the truth about his mother, and his distraction allowed Victory Saber to destroy the King Solon mecha. Deathsaurus fled, abandoning Solon, who accepted his earthly heritage and joined the Autobots.

During the final battle, as Deathsaurus's fortress attacks the Earth, it is he who battles Star Saber in space (unlike the animated series, in which Liokaiser takes this role). Leozack, then, is able to take his treachery to the ultimate extreme by turning the fortress's power on Deathsaurus, and Deathsaurus cripples the craft with his cannon as Star Saber takes Leozack down. Then, the wounded Deathsaurus reveals the true reason he has quested to liberate the fortress from the Dark Nebula - it is home to the Decepticons' families and civilians. As the shocked Autobots discover this, they meet Deathsaurus's wife, Esmeryl and Deathsaurus and Star Saber then make peace, shaking hands and vowing to work together for the betterment of the Transformer race.

The combination of Solon's mech and Deathsaurs, King Zaras!:

Image

At first I thought they were kidding, but they aren't. Pages about Leozack's sister and Deathsaurus's Wife:

http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Lyzack

http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Esmeryl

This takes things to a whole new level in my opinion, as none of this stuff is even hinted at in the actual anime'. I'll take it as an alternate Universe to Victory, and I really hope that tfarchive puts more issues up in the future, cause this is so strange I think it's awsome. Tfarchive has the first issue of Victory up, but it's pretty standard stuff.

It also once again raises the question of "Can transformers have kids?", and it appears they can.

Sounds like a dreadful fan-wank.

I'm developing a theory that goes like this: The degree to which the Decepticons become sympathetic characters is directly proportional to the degree of fan-wank involved.

Could you please express that as a mathematical formula?

Except, this is all officially licensed Takara material. But I'd too like to see it as a mathematical formula.

Actually, I'd love more info on that particular aspect.

For example, Nintendo licensed the likeness and names of The Legend of Zelda out for a while. Several very odd, very baaaaad games were made for the CD-i. Even though these were "licensed" they still aren't official and don't influence the Zelda story at all.

(very odd, very baaaaad)

Hrm, in regards to the formula, I actually think it would be pretty simplistic, perhaps:

(Fan Wank) = (Decepticon Sympathy)

of course, the implications of the formula are startling and will undoubtedly cost me my Nobel Prize... :-(

I'll be honest  the story is both strange and incredibly hilarious. To think that decepticons have children is just funny, and that whole Leozack thing was kinda badass at least he gets his revenge.

Let's face it: the kid would have to be a frickin' retard to believe a giant robot was it's father. I can't see a drooling half-wit human being a bonus in Transformer combat, no matter what armour you put him in.

Well, he would have to have been a baby when he was taken to not remember his mother, and Deszaras had him rebuilt as a cyborg. So given that he was raised being told he was a robot, surrounded by other robots (of lots of different sizes), and that he *had robot parts,* he didn't question it.

(Mind you, that's in no way a defence of the absolutely batshit insane crazy-fest that is the Victory manga.)

I try to avoid discriminating against people on grounds of sex, race, age or anything else we're born with. But sometimes you do have to wonder if they put LSD in the Japanese water supply.

While I do like to see my Decepticons as sadistic, evil creatures hellbent on galactic conquest, I do find it interesting to entertain the notion of Decepticon civilians. I mean, after all, there wouldnt be so many Decepticons if at least the majority didnt truly believe they were in the right.

Makes sense, when you put it that way... :-? It is probable that the 'Con civilians have a differant way of going about things then Autobot civilians, like having a very ordered and structured society while Autobots tend to have a freer and less militeristic one.

The Decepticon society probably believe that order and peace come about when everything is subjugated and rules are strict. There is a very distinct hiarchy and the lines of what is what is made clear. And the one at the top is like a King. Maybe that is why the 'Cons seek to conquer everything. It is how they believe peace can be achieved. It is also probable that they war against the Autobots because they believe that the Autobot way of doing things will eventually lead to chaos and ultimately to suffering. Especially if they believe they are to blame for how Cybertron turned out.

One thing I notice is that Megatron is said to want to enslave humanity in the G1 cartoons, not just collect energon from Earth. This is probaly his "gift" to humanity, putting us under 'Con rule instead of destroying us. I wonder if he would force us to become 'Con subjects like the other races he has conquered? Maybe turn us into cyborgs eventually...

Uh, dude, Big Megs wanted to drain Earth Dry and then kill everyone. He doesn't give a rats nenes about anyone living peacefully. He's a war machine, it's what he does. In the cartoon, and in the comics, (G1) the Decepticons are nothing but evil, evil, evil. You have very few exceptions, and when you do, they often desert the Deceps to join the Autobots. The only time we get Decepticons as anything BUT evil are in the Japanese comics. Hell, look at the toys, it says right on the Packaging "Evil Decepticon".

I thiunk the Decepticons having wives was the weird part, and it probably explains why they never cared much for ruling Cybertron, or Earth or wherever, it meant theyd have to stay home with the wife!

Yes, I take the point, but I do think that the "Evil Decepticon" on the packaging is more a marketing-towards-children strategy than a considered insight into the narrative backstory.

:-? Maybe. But then, it's kinda silly having two factions of good guys feuding with each other. As I said, in most media, any Decepticon who had the slightest hint of goodness in them tried to join the Autobots.

I'm not sure you can have "civilian Decepticons," given the Decepticons are an army. The cartoon went with the idea of Autobots good, 'Cons bad, whereas I think the comic entertained the idea of neutrals.

Yeah, the Decpeticons, as I said are evil, the Autobots are "Heroic", and your civilians are neutral, or Autobots. But then again, you did have Flame, the evil Autobot...

Yeah, dude, in the UK comics, there was an Arc called "City of Fear." You had this dude named Flame who was this insane, evil Autobot who had a grudge against Xaaron and this council of elders. he revived a bunch of Zombie Autobots, had them beat up the Wreckers, tried to kill Xaaron, and wanted to turn Cybertron into a mobile warworld, regardless of who he killed, or the fact the Afterburners would wipe out the city of Kalis.

Ok, I take it back, Kiss Players is FAR, FAR stranger than Victory. I was looking on the TF wiki for a reference pic of IDW Starscream, and blurb about Kiss Players continuity was in the general section, along with a picture that made me think "What the heck??":

From the TF wiki:

Kiss Players continuity

Teletraan Go! Go! comics

Not his finest moment. As the mysterious saboteur of Teletraan I was about to be revealed, Teletraan 15's personality suddenly changed. She had been possessed by the ghost of Starscream! Learning of the power of kiss-playing, the rogue spirit quickly left her body and departed for Earth Defense Command Headquarters on Earth.

There, young Atari Hitotonari was using the ladies' room. This was not enough to stop Starscream, who took over the girl's body, transforming her E.D.C. uniform to black and making her pull a gun on her fellow Kiss Player officers.

But Starscream's ignorance of human custom and basic biology worked against him as the E.D.C. Kiss Players totally failed to take "Atari-scream's" demands and threats seriously. Unfortunately for the Air Commander, he had neglected to pull Atari's underwear back up when leaving the bathroom.

Yes, this really officially happened.

http://images.wikia.com/transformers/images/thumb/7/7a/AtariScream.jpg/180px-AtariScream.jpg

NO NO NO NO!!!!! :BOOM:

Why did Takara taint Transformers so? They had no reason to pervert the franchise! I hope it stays in Japan, because I do not ever want it coming near the proper G1 continuity. It is a somewhat humorous concept, but the girls are drawn underage, so it's not, it's just disturbing.
