Idiomatically it would be "The Best who's First in Rank", given that "Optimus" is his name and "Prime" is a rank. I'll have to put this with my Latin/Greek teacher when I'm visiting her.

Bumblebee is probably in reference to his originally turning into a 'bug' or 'beetle' and his balck and yellow colouring. At least Movie B's doors dtick up like little wings on his back.

In my own personal canon, I attempted to excuse Banzai-tron with the following explanation. As IDW had him command the Con secret police and Jazz was special ops commander, they would likely encounter each other occasionally. Upon Banzai-tron's arrival on Earth, one such encounter had the Earth loving Jazz, already well read when it came to earthen culture, refer jokingly to the Con Martial Artist as 'Banzai-tron' and the name stuck on both sides.

The fact that I saw resemblances between BT and Energon Divebomb had me use Divebomb as BT's original name and having another Divebomb have an enforced name change appealled to me.

But I digress. Insecticon bothers me not for how it sounds but the fact that it's used on Bombshell and Shrapnel who never struck me as looking like insects.

Overlord is the best name ever.

My top choices would be Oil Pan (c'mon, they ran out of names?) and Rabbicrater (...)

Rabbicrater makes some sense as "Rabbit Crater", following the Japanese myth of a Bunny of the Moon.
