THS ultra magnus Scratch built ( Painting in progress)

Post all your customized Transformers here. Whether it's a small mod or a true kitbash, we'd love to see it!

Postby Cyclone_X_2075 » Sat May 13, 2006 10:55 am

I must say, I'm jealous
your scratchbuilt looks very detailed and all

The way you made the upper Magnus legs look a bit similar to my 'on hold' MP Magnus armor, nono, I'm notaccusing you of stealing that idea :p, I just want to say that that is the better way to make his upper legs as opposed to just using the smaller bot's upper legs ;)

Thanks you all for the encouragement..

And RavageX-9 your suggestions are very constructive I will try to work on it. Yap I agree that much work has to be done to the face. I am actually following the Japanese Manga version of Magnus I will have to source of the pics to show you. As for the vent. I have similar sentiments. I will see how i could improve on it.

BTW I haven't have any updates for a while.. Been working hard on the details though..
Pleasent viewing..

I'm especially impressed with that headsculpt/build. It looks so much like his original self, I briefly thought it was from G1 Magnus (I wasn't looking too closely at the time)!
What scale Gundam are the hands from?

Thanks Ramrider, the fist are from Gundam air master, but i believe all "High Grade" HG Gundam kit should be fine.

As for the Ball joints are bought from local Hobby Model kit store.
Comes in various assortment, but generally in 3-4 sizeds. and Rize range from 5-8 usd. I will try to take some pics when i manage to get a new pack.

Man, this piece is really coming together. I mean, you've gone the step of looking like the G1 toy, but you've gone far beyond in regards to its articulation and overall style. Your hard work is really paying off. He's really going to look good painted. :)

It looks good, but it need side plates for structural integrity in trailer mode. It looks unfinished. For the ramps, add a small hinge and another length of styrene to each ramp to extend them

I agree with you there the sides looks a little empty. Actually there is something I have previously not show. The Back

Image

I added a back piece for Magnus. And this will be folded to fill up the hollow in the trailer mode.. Hope it will look good in alternate mode though..

Unfortunately, I am not as caster. and I dont think the material I used can withstand the heat of casting.. so I went ahead to paint it

I have yet to finish painting it as you can see the thighs are still unpainted.. A little more details will be added the next time I get to work on it.

Thanks for viewing. Sorry about the lighting.. Better pics next time
