I'd say "intuitive" or "straight-forward", like it's clear at first glance where parts go and fold up without any fuss at all. The G1 Mini-Bots and Micromasters are perfect examples of that without having to resort to instant spring-loaded transformations like the Jumpstarters.

For this article, I chose to keep it to 5 steps or less. Something that would take you literally 5 seconds to tansform.

So like the CW limbs?

When it comes to easy yet effective transformation, i think armada trilogy toys would take a spotlight for that. While i admit that not all of them are good toys (looking at you, armada sideswipe), majority of them has great, simple transformation, especially cybertron, where you practically don't need instruction if you watch the show.
Agreed with hot shot there. I have him, and he is a solid toy. Also interesting enough is that he has very low numbers of tabs and slot, and the sturdiness of vehicle mode doesn't rely on those that much. Also, if you think the backpack is a hindrance, you can easily remove it, since it is just connected using big balljoint.

I've never seen hot shot before and I completely agree. The only one I've owned on the list was terrorsaur. I loved all the beast wars basics I had but he was my favorite.

For newer transformers that are super easy and fun to transform I nominate tr hot rod. He may have more steps than all the ones that made the list but he is super fun to transform.

I guess I should say I meant G1 Buzzsaw and Laserbeak in my earlier post. I don't like the TR ones.

I didn't number them because they're all equally easy, and they were the 1st 5 that came to mind.

Honorable mentions: Armada Megatron, Armada Tidal Wave, Armada Optimus Prime

I knew there was a reason Armada reminded me of G1.

CW Rook. Very easy to transform, and IMO one of the best figures of CW.

The first toy that came to mind when I saw this was CW Blackjack. I was curious as to whether or not he fit the criteria but BWTF lists it as 8 and two of them are attaching and detaching the axe. Another step is straightening the arms and legs. He could definitely be transformed in 5 steps. So yeah Blackjack would be my number 1, such a fun toy.

Cool pick, and I guess he does work with the criteria. I dont know why I always found him more complex than others, but in an enjoyable way of course.

One step. Or is it? I mean all you're really doing is pushing one down onto another. That could simply regarded as normal play.

Either way, aside from Runabout and Runamuck, or Top Spin and Twin Twist, they're probably the easiest G1 figures to "transform"

I will once again champion the CW Buzzsaw/TR Laserbeak mold, as it fits this topic and I still really like this thing.

I'd really like a real life version of the Laserbeak from Dark of the Moon. He could turn into a plasma screen, photocopier, heck, even freaking BUMBLEBEE! I can see it now..

Their third mode is pretty bad, but the tablet and bird are really solid and I like the simple transformation between those modes.

why does i read this as a movie with deadpool in it.

I really like ROTF activator Bumblebee and Starscream. Both have good robot mode and vehicle mode. For Bumblebee, I still REALLY think they need to repaint him to pink. Might sell better than the yellow Bee.

I believe a good easy toy as in a few steps is IE less than 20...the combiner wars Limb bots, you can see every trick it has to offer

Bee sells fine as it is. The problem is oversupply not underdemand

Chimi****inchangas!!!

A couple others of the Animated Activators were really really awesome: Bumblebee and Ratchet. You ended up with very articulated sturdy bots with some heft to them, that could stand and pose easily, then boom make a solid rollable car real quick. Others kind of sucked (optimus, lockdown).

I also love a lot of the first Rescue Bots! It doesn't get much easier than Boulder.

1) Pull treads out
2) Stand

The RiD 2015 line has the Warrior class to easily whet one's appetite for standard Transformers, while AOE and TLK both had Legions, Deluxes, Voyagers and Leaders. They haven't vanished, they just have 1-steps, Deployers etc. sharing shelf space with them -- and there have been some real whoppers in those lines, like AOE Evasion Optimus and RiD 2015 Fracture.

Well here are my choices based on what i have in my small collection so i narrowed it down to 4


4th. Movie 1 Deluxe Dropkick
This one is really good for 1 main reason, His car is great but when you look at him from a distance and realize he looks even better than you average army building bot since he is wielding a Decepticon logo across his whole car which is amazingly detailed. Add in the fact he is is simple to transform by unfolding the legs, twist out the chicken legs and unfold the arms from the front end and you have a solid combo.





3rd. Cybertron Downshift
This easy guy has a excellent muscle car look, is easy and is loaded with options for bot mode.





2nd. Classics 2 Pack "The Ultimate Battle"2006 Deluxe Optimus Prime
This guy has a simple transformation exactly like G1. Although he seems downscaled quite a bit for a deluxe size figure, dont let him fool you he's actually quite good and worth the price.




1st. Voyager Cybertron Defense Scattorshot
This guy is dead simple, undo the legs plates, rotate the leg assembly, pull the arms to the side and reveal the robot moded fists and feet. In both modes this guy is loaded for bear with a ton of armaments and more than enough to be a one man army. I mean 22 mini rockets, a big rifle + additional cyber key cannon and a dual barrel extra missiles It's enough to make all but the bravest and strongest Decepticons flee for their lives
That is why he is my number 1 choice, i can transform this guy blindfolded, he is that simple
