Transformers: Animated Fu**ed up Prowl

There is more to Transformers than movies, cartoons, comics and toys. Discuss anything else Transformers here.

I know but right before that you said there were no show accurate toys. So you were saying yes there are and no there isn't at the same time hence you were argueing with yourself. :P

And when I'm talking about accuracy I mean looks only, not flexibility.

Ah... Now there's a problem, you see? Suddenly you're relaxing your definition of "100% accuracy" to allow it to work in your favour, but against other arguments.

I'll let a previous post speak for me sence I've allready said this from the start it's not recent.

Anyway, I can't wait to see the toys for this series. I highly doubt any of them will be show accurate due to the styalized robot modes.

This means that characters like Optimus Prime won't be able to shift from a normal sized front grill to his anorexic robot mode. Has nothing to do with how they move. Has to do with haveing shape shifting body parts. Which straingly enough, suposidly intelligent people are arguing is actully possible or did you missinterpret this as something else? In that case what do you think "Styalized" means?

It's back on page 2, go look at it.

Allso what's up with the shoving everything inside one huge block paragraph?

If you're talking about running a whole post into one paragraph, the problem is that it's near impossible to read. If you're talking about my double quote of you, it's because I was quoting two separate posts from which I'd snipped an amount of text between the bits I wanted, and I made a stylistic choice to reflect that by using a pair of consecutive quote blocks. Happy?
I'm going to have to appoligise for that one, that comment was about Hellbender's post not yours. He made the same comments you did but it was all in a single paragraph.

-=edit=-

OK just checked out thoughs links and they're not any more show accurate than the G1 or first wave of Beast Wars toys were.

They were a little more show accurate than I thought they'd be but that's mainly because they used the anime looking heads and I was hopeing they wouldn't. :P And what's up with Prime's face? I normally don't mind him having a mouth but that is just ugly!

Anyway, just as I had thought Prime isn't as insainly skinny as his show model. Bulkhead is a bit more proportionate as a toy but still looks really fat, I was really suprised at that one.

Prowl, if it wasn't for that head would be the coolest toy ever! He looks like he doesn't have a face though and it's kinda creepy.

Bumblebee looks nothing like his show model other than being Yellow and haveing a black stripe.

He doesn't even have the same vehicle mode. The animated model looks like Movie Bumblebee while the toy looks more like Classics Bumblebee (without the boat) allthough I do prefer him that way because G1 Bumblebee was my fav. character. :)

The Robot modes, obviously the toy is alot bulkier looking than the animated version and I like him that way.

I'm actully wishing Bumblebee's show model looked more like the toy right now because the toy looks fairly close to G1.

They all got messed up. For God's sake, look at Hound! I think Ratchet took the least damage.

6-11 year olds, as stated in a panel of some sort.

2nd: Glyph, I am a self taught illustrator, And not to toot my own horn, but TOOT! I can draw really well for a non-professional artist. And I am not critiquing these artists skill, but their methods of going with same old Cartoon Network dreck instead of trying something new, and dare I say :o , better! I listed no less than FOUR shows that have the exact same style of drawing, and there are more, all of which tie in to each other somehow. And don't get me started on how many different versions of the same show we need on one network. Sheesh. I am just saying that that style is by far NOT the best out there, and don't the Transformers deserve the best? 8)

The "Styal" is the same as Teen Titans, The Batman, and Star Wars Clone Wars and it is that way because all these shows are made by the same people. Any cartoons they make will allways be in this styal allthough it may change slightly over time.

Not Clone Wars. That's a Genndy Tartakovsky series, like Samurai Jack.
The style may be similar, focusing on fluid action and stylised animation models, but it's not the same, and I'm not sure it's the same people.

Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing the show. The toys look interesting.

My only regret is Prowl. Would have liked if they made him black and white like G1 but it's the linked eyes that bother me most. Small thing I know but that's it. Otherwise really lookin forward to seein it.

Lets be honest, many of us didn't like Beast Wars or the new film because of the designs but they both turned out to be 2 of the best versions of Transformers. So let's just wait and see.

I personally don't mind the new Prowl. Granted, the cop car look is better, but I think making him a police motorcycle is an interesting twist to the character.

I love the Designs of Beast Wars, I think alot of people do. It's Beast Machines that everyone hates the designs to and I don't blame them for that one.

The movie allso I would not call the best. I don't even call it Transformers. It completly sucks as a Transformers movie for 2 reasons.

1. It hardly even shows any of the Transformers except for Bumblebee.

2. Even if they did show the Transformers more they don't look like a pure Transformers line. They look like a mixture of every single robot and robotic looking characters ever made. Every time I go into a toy store now anything that even remotly resembles a robot I think is a Transformers movie toy till I take a closer look at the packaging.

For these 2 reason I call the movie "Scrap Metal Invaders" because they are invading but it's impossible to point them out as any single robotic toy line, they look like a mix of all.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the movie, I just thought the title and names of the characters should have been changed away from Transformers.

I feel your pain brothers. Despite all the schtck about trying something new, I rather they'd taken the anime approach similar to studio OX (or NAS' Brave series) + the US way of storytelling ( not the sucky Japanese approach). Now that is what Transformers should be presented as, ala the Movie '86 but on steroids.

For me, the Teen Titans "stylized"(yeah right)approach was a lazy attempt to copy the current trend in animation. Save on the research hours( I wonder what kind of smokes they were inhaling during their brain storming sessions.

But hey, I may be in the minority in reminiscing for the good all '80s style animation.

No, Fenrir, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. I agree, what the Transformers need is a series that invokes what made the series so popular in the first place: a style of 'heroic' animation and storytelling, not some kind of street vulgar. I can't say it enough, the Transformers has a history and a style, and even though there were changes for the new film, they still did a good job of making the 'bots look bad-ass, but in this new series they all look like mutated orangutans. Instead of de-evolving, the style of the Transformers must be allowed to evolve, to improve on what has come in the past. Sorry, but this Cartoon Network effort is a slap in the face to both new and veteran fans alike.

I dont care too much for their robot designs. Their faces mostly. However, I love their choices of characters they are using in this series.

I'll watch it before placing final judgement. I for one, don't mind the designs as long as they provide fluid animation that works with the style. I don't care how many people don't like the new style, it's your opinion and I can't change it. But you're not going to ruin my fun.

I like the style, even though I doubt I'll be a regular watcher
(but who knows?).
All I know is that what I've seen of the animated toys is
ON POINT...
This may be the only line of TF EVER where I actually get them all.
ALL.
EVER.

Yeah.
