Geez...it seems like they're trying to make the new toys out to look inferior to the originals. I mean, don't get me wrong...I love my G1 Prime(well, New Year's Convoy, to be exact)....but the new leader class movie Prime is so much better built.

....& I'd bet that bit at the end where the guy "broke" Prime's gun off was the media not being aware that there is such a thing as parts that snap off if too much pressure is applied to keep them from breaking.....a luxury most of the G1 figures never had.

Gotta agree with you there, Nemesis Cyberplex.

As much as I love G1, and boy do I ever, I GLADLY concede the advances made in the past 20+ years, including AutoCAD and other computer modeling technology has made awesome figures, like the newest Leader Prime built like a tank, even without a hint of diecast. I can also honestly say that some of these newest TFs, although not BrickFormers like many of the G1s, are indeed BUILT TO LAST.

at the end of the article it says 30 to 40 percent of transformers will be bought by adults.

this is a confusing statistic to me as the article does not say if they mean bought by adults for children or not. If it means that up to 40 percent of transformer sales could be bought by us collectors. If that then our collective internet whines for g1 inspired toys and characters will not only be considered but very well catered to.

If so, then the discontinued 6 inch titaniums are pretty likely to be released somehow and classics 2.0/Universe toys should be long-lived and quite good.

all this speculation comes down to is we may yet be in for some great figures in 2008.

I'm going to hold out a little hope that luck is on our side.

In the mean time i plan to see the movie and enjoy the hell out of it's toys. I was a little dissapointed in the lack of great reveals from hasbro at botcon 07, but I don't feel let down by the current crop of Transformers.

Not that I'm particularly grown up in my daily life anyway, but I'll be damned if I wasn't in total awe watching that movie last night...

I can totally relate this. I am 33 years old, and when I was 10-12 years old, I had almost all of the G1 transformers. I just told a friend of mine I feel like I am 10 years old all over again. I get off of work in less than an hour, and I am headign straight to the theatre to pick up my tickets, meet my friends for dinner, then go back to the theatre for the 7:10 showing. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!

It probably would have brought me back if it had actually been about the TF's I loved. Using the names for this cast of characters was just completely inappropriate. I don't see Bumblebee in that muscle car, don't see Ratchet in that Hummer, don't see Megatron in that jet, don't see Starscream in that horrible robot form, don't see Frenzy in that little hunk of junk, don't see Scorponok in that silly little after-thought, etc, etc.

Nope, nothing here reminds me of my childhood TF's.

Lucky man.

I bought tickets online as soon as they were available for purchase: 11:00AM.

Today's tickets sold out in under 10 min., so i got the 11:00AM showing for tomorrow.

I am STOKED!!!

I have to agree that the Leader Class Prime is fantastic. I had what was I think the second Prime released. You could take his truck (which opened into Prime, you pushed his grill in to unfold his legs) and place it in the trailer then add arm/head attachments to create a super Prime but neither Super Prime nor the smaller one were very flexible at all.

Jazz and Bumblebee were both only a couple moving parts each (though their arms seemed more flexible then Prime's) I remember the G2 toys being a bit better (I think I only ever had Prime and Starscream) but the movie Prime is just amazing.

I keep taking him out of the shelf I have him displayed on and playing with him >.> His vehicle and robot form are both excellent.

I'm sort of an adult. I'm 18, that counts in this country, mister!

I saw the movie, I squealed like a little school girl. I bought Ironhide and Barricade. (Which I haven't bought any TFs in a good long time)

I'm 18, I've said that. I felt like I was a little kid again, when Transformers was still the hot new thing to me, when I'd wake up at 6 AM just to see Optimus Primal and the Maximals kick some Predacon ass. It was all perfect for that simple 144 minutes.
