Transformers Combiner Wars Devastator - So Big It Needs Its Own Thread
Re: Transformers Generations Devastator - So Big It Needs Its Own Thread
Looks good to me. I just hope that the Construction vehicles are big enough to scale well with the Autobot cars.
Hasbro needs to get Devastator to the States quick and stop wasting time in Nuremberg so we can get a decent look at this thing. Everyone knows Europeans don't really buy the toys, but instead opt to just read the crappy literature.

Seriously? This figure is nowhere near Giant or Hercules! Hopefully it'll look better in-hand, just from that photo, it's definitely underwhelming. It's not a swing and a miss, but they definitely didn't hit it out of the park.

Simplified just as I expected. And I wouldn't have it any other way as this big boy will be my sons Christmas toy this DEC.
To all those who are bitching about this fact, grow up. These are for the children, and rightfully so. If you want a geewun accurate toy, 3pt makes them. Save up and buy it.

Hmm, where have I heard this before? Oh yeah....

Rather harsh.
I wouldn't say that these arn't aimed at collectors, otherwise why would it be G1 styled?

Remember, when it comes to Kids vs. Collectors, Hasbro will almost always try having its cake, and eating it too.

Just looks like the cab is attached at the knee and the drum/backend fold out to make a foot, which is weird and different. Weird and different is ok on its own, but it looks a little bad in this case. My guess is maybe it had something to do with balance, or a struggle to get Scrapper and Mixmaster at a size where they help him stand upright.

The only people who say this kind of thing are pathetic fan boys living in their parents basements who spend hours and hours online bitching and complaining about toys which are made for children. Because they have nothing better to do and never grew up.
I am sorry that you feel that Hasbro caters to adults, but you must realize they make children's toys for children, not for people who need to put on a clean shirt, scrape the semen stains off their hands, empty their bed pans, and get themselves a real life.

They are aimed at children, hence the simplified style and playability. Of course it would look G1, because G1 is the basis to which most incarnations of the TF derive from. Furthermore, just because something is G1 doesn't mean that it is for adults. Children know and love G1. My boys favorite TF movie is the 1986 one we grew up with. Not because I forced it on them. Because they like the dramatic and high stakes reality that is the 1986 movie.
As far as the other commenters harshness, do you expect less from people like that? Sadly, they forget these are children's toys at their core. It is too bad they cannot enjoy the franchiser like the rest of us because they are so busy complaining about everything that they deem is wrong with the franchise, like they delusionally think Hasbro is making toys just for them.....

About the treads resting flush against the torso as the figure's armpits, instead of staying attached to the arms...
My my, how easily people forget that the treads forming the armpits and not staying connected to the arms is exactly how it was for Devastator in the cartoon:

(Remember the first superion and menasor pics) I mean Devy really looks like he is slipping on a bananna peel. And why is hooks crane raised in the air like a giant antenna ? Why dont they send someone to the toy fair who actually has a connection to the products to set up the display ? A better pose could do alot for this figure like it did for Superion.
Depending on how early the test shot is. It might have been needed to get glued in certain spots to hold together in the combined form.
HasTak displays those test shots in those crazy wild poses to show off all of the toys articulation and moving parts.

I was very well aware that the design (edit - that part of it, given the Mixmaster configuration) is show accurate when I made that comment. It doesn't mean it looks good on this toy to me, at least not at the angle it has been photographed from

Not with the cartoon's animation being so bad and inconsistent that many could have easily written off one or two pics as animation errors.Ravage XK wrote:Sabrblade wrote:About the treads resting flush against the torso as the figure's armpits, instead of staying attached to the arms...

Well, my only complaint is that the head and forearms are awfully tiny and the the bi-colored treads for the chest really don't look right. I know, I know, toy accuracy, but a bit of creative design with big Devs here wouldn't have gone amiss.
