Wanting Takara to create five entirely original molds for an entire combiner seems... extremely optimistic. Not saying it's impossible, but it's something I'd file under "probably not going to happen".

Personally I'm kind of iffy with the idea of TakaraTomy making an entire combiner from scratch for Unite Warriors. Not only is it a Hasbro-initiated idea, TakaraTomy has created only two single complimentary molds. I'd only see TakaraTomy making a completely new set if the line is doing really well (exceeding expectations at least) to warrant the risk.

Don't get us wrong, should a new-mold Beast Combiner appear within the foreseeable future (read: before Titans Return's half-way point) we'd be very pleasantly surprised.

I'm honestly not that optimistic myself, just throwing out an idea of how could be done. And let's not forget, while TT may have only made two wholly original molds, they also remolded both for use on another combiner, fairly heavily at that. That sets a bit of a precedence for them to make entirely new molds they can get more than one use out of.

So rather than cluttering up the Toys Haul thread ... let's talk about CW Computron here.
Scattorshot (a lazy retool), and Afterburner are pretty basic. Nothing overly great about them, they are what they are. Re-uses of molds that have been used a few times in the past.
Lightspeed (a slight retool), is a nice figure, as was Groove. Bit of a far cry from his G1 self unfortunately.
Nosecone ... ugh ... having never owned the Brawl mold before I had no idea what to expect. I had heard of Brawl's hip problems and I wasn't sure if it had been fixed for this release or not, apparently it has ... but that's one hell of a stupid looking hip. So another slight retool. A very "meh" figure.
Strafe ... well now. This is a nice retool! With Air Raid as the base they retooled the jet parts. My one complaint is in the fins, they're a soft rubber rather than hardened plastic. Definitely the best retool of the set.
Scrounge ... ah yes, my entire reason for buying this set. When Optimus Prime died in 1986 it paved the way for the possibility of Transformer death. It also set me on the collecting path of the Marvel UK comics and that's where we met Scrounge. I read that story many times, I remember it well. His appearance was short lived but I never forgot him. His death was quite graphic at the time so that stuck with me as well. And finally, after all these years, he's gotten a figure. Oh sure he's just a repaint of Cosmos with a new head but you know what? It works. It works well.
I haven't combined them yet, the feet and fists were my other incentive for getting this set. It's not a great set, but for the Neo-G1 collector who may not be getting Takara's version (I still am) then it's a set you'll want to pick up.

Their TF Go combiners were fairly good....especially the shinobi one.

I told you this should be stickied like Burn's thought etc a few months back. Jim Shooter used to do this in Marvel's Bullpen bulletins.

Thanks for the thoughts, Burn. I'm looking forward to figuring out how to pose Scrounge as a wheel.
For those who may have been waiting, I know Ages 3 and Up already had this in stock, but over the weekend, Computron suddenly came in stock at BBTS for $99.99, no preorder...

Just ordered Computron off of BBTS. Don't need no Takara, this one's pretty awesome.

Seibertronians, excitement has been building for Combiner Wars Computron ever since a listing for him was found The Toys R Us system back in January. Then it continued to build when we saw his gallery from Botcon a few months ago. Well, you don't have to wait any longer, as the Technobot team is now available on most major 3rd party websites!
He's available at Big Bad Toy Store
AJ's Toy chest, too
TFSource has him, as well
But The Chosen Prime still lists it as a pre-order
As does Robot Kingdom
So what do you think? Do you like Computron at all? Can you resist the temptation to get the Hasbro version now and wait for Takara's? Do you like Hasbro's version more? Let us know in the comments!

Honestly, if they had just given us a new head for Computron, Nosecone, and Lightspeed, I would feel so much better about this guy. If there were a new head on him, I would have accepted Nosecone as is most likely, and I do want Scrounge. Just wish they had gone that little extra step

Guys I am seriously considering just getting this version instead of the takara. The selling points on the takara version just don't seem as important to me ATM. Like, I can do more with that extra $40. uuuugh. what do!
I have been into transformers since 1984.
While I love G1 I also love new innovations and takes on the characters.
I prefer official Hasbro releases of stuff for the most part
I'm not a huge fan of Japanese original Transformers media or designs.
It's easier for me to say which are my LEAST favorite toy lines: Beast Machines, Robots in Disguise.
TFCon List: Classics Skywarp, General Optimus, BW Airrazor, Transmetal Tarantulus, Alternity Prime, Fire Convoy

I'm about in that same boat. It's a hard decision right now. I am really excited for Takaras, but this is so much cheaper and has Scrounge. The heads man, those are the things that are throwing me one way and another

PC-11 seems to help a LOT; go the Perfect Effect thread and you'll see just how effective it is. I think at this point Hasbro + PC-11 is an extremely valid option that almost matches Takara in how good it looks - admittedly, it does nothing for the bot modes (LIGHTSPEED. NOSECONE.) But for Computron himself? He looks great.

Speak for yourself, man. Compared to Takara's, I like this Lightspeed way better. Of course, that might be due to my Dead End/Streetwise mold bias, but it's still a way better choice than the Breakdown/Wheeljack mold.Kurona wrote:admittedly, it does nothing for the bot modes (LIGHTSPEED)

I've seen it. The thing is that with the PE set it will cost basically the same as Takara's and it does nothing for the individual heads. Plus, I still think Takara has the better head than PE, so it really isn't that good an option for me with those regards.

Ah, but with the Takara set you'd likely need to get PC-12 (hands and feet) somewhere down the line, wouldn't you? Plus you don't get scrounge.

Thing is, I like the standard hands and feet. And my experience with Victorion has not been a positive one with the design of the feet. So three heads, a whole Nosecone altogether, and Scrounge are the main deciding factors

I think Takara has the individual bot modes down. they are by far the superior of the two...but I will not be displaying this like that. Probably not ever...so Hasbro is inching closer to a yes for me.

Takara nailed the individual bot modes for sure, which is why I love it so much. The fact that the chest and head are different are also big pluses for the combined mode. It just lacks Scrounge and a cheaper price point, which is making it hard now that hasbro Computron is out and about
