I wanted to see it in IMAX.
Were there really added bits to the Jazz/Megatron fight?
From what I was told directly, and heard from others, was that nothing was added to the scenes with robots, but more human interaction scenes had been added. A good 4-5 minutes worth.
To know which ones were reintegrated, you'd need to read the leaked treatment from 2006. It has all of the scenes in it and you could see which ones were cut from normal release.
Such as:
- Sam's father picking him up from Jail and Sam asking him if he was crazy like his grandfather.
- Epps and Lennox going into a pawn shop to get the walkie talkies that you see them call the airstrike with, just before Blackout is blown apart. While in the pawn shop, the owner tries to make her move on Epps. (or is it Lennox?) (supposed to be a really funny scene.)
And there's a few others.
I got to see it in Imax and even though there was no additional robot scenes it was still well worth it to me.
There is an extended scene at Hoover dam as well and also an extended scene with Sam's friend Miles...the enhanced visuals on the 60 feet tall by 80 foot wide screen and 12 thousand watts of stereo power was an awesome experience...when megatron was crashing through the building I literally had to look up as the sound of wooden planks and other debris crashing around literally sounded like it was coming from the Imax roof collapsing itself.
Visually speaking the size of the screen was like swimming in the movie itself kind of like really being there to me.

Just as the others had mentioned, the only add-ons were human parts. Still, the experience was so mind blowing that they could delete 10 minutes from the current version of the movie and I would see it again in a heartbeat on the IMAX screen. The picture quality was so vivid, so intense and sharp that I walked out of the theater, looked around and thought "Wow, the real world sucks!" The scene where Prime gets his Earth mode will stick out in my mind forever cause you actually get to see a life size (if not bigger) Peterbilt right in front of you with crystal clarity. And try to imagine the fight in the city with the sound quality that Galvatron described. You'd find yourself checking your body for bullet holes and your popcorn tub for building debris and shrapnel. You actually feel the shockwaves from the explosions. I saw the first movie on IMAX with Air Commander Starscream and his fiancee' the last night it played in Seattle. For #2, I plan on taking my kids to see it the first night it opens. The day after, I want to see how many NW Seibertronians I can get to join me on my second run through.

The regular LOTR movies are too long as it is, much less the extended length versions. 4 hours way too long for any movie, TFs or otherwise.
After about the third trip through the jungle in King Kong, I couldn't help but think "Just climb the goddamn building already!!"
Oddly, I never bought the TF DVD. Though I catch the movie any chance I get on Cinemax. One of these days, I'll actually get the movie. Then go see TF2. Twice. Then buy the DVD, on regular DVD, HD DVD, and Blu-Ray. Twice. Each.
