Transformers Legion Class / EZ Series + Cyberverse Commanders

Postby RAR » Thu Nov 03, 2016 8:10 pm

I couldn't find a thread for this and I felt there should be one that was about the legends* (old) and Legion (current) size.

* Legends being the old name for Legions not the size of a toy like Combiner wars

I was intending this thread for the discussion of Cyberverse like toy lines where a larger character is represented sometimes by a slightly larger size say Cyberverse Blackout. or Legends Optimus Prime / Megatron / Starscream.

Not so much (current) Legends Cosmos/Swerve/Powerglide.

But mainly the 2.5" scale items we've had for many years now. across multiple lines and themes.

--------

What I was especially wondering about is - should this size diversify a bit more than it has ?

What with RID drawing to a close - and 3 TF movies coming out in the next few years the Movie Universe my dominate that size class well into 2019

So should it ? - should other things be done between Movie to keep the interest going or should the class be retired for a wave or two prior to each movie.

-----

Maybe the whole brand needs to be slanted over to a none specific "Universe" theme and then they can make Movie toys - sure but also things like Legions of the Rescue bots, more classic legions or themes like Armada or Animated even as well as the odd RID leftover.

They could for example make a new Optimus Prime as a legion in every wave - with 30 years of them to pick from that would be really interesting I feel.

-------

I also think that if the Cyberverse Commander class came back there might be some interest there too.

-------

As for use : There is the Titan-Master bases to use them with - if they make The last knight / AOE Legions then they can potentially ride on your Dinobots.

Motto: "Don't forget to subscribe to the official Doctor Who youtube channel"
Weapon: Temperature Variant H20 Gun
The Cyberverse Commander class is basically the current Generations Legends class/RiD Mini-Con Battle Packs class.

Is RiD coming to a close? I don't remember that.

I had some various sizes out Yesterday and Powerglide say is actually bigger than a Cyberverse Commander (like Say CV Prime Ultra Magnus) Powerglide is also smaller than the Mini-con 2 pack Strongarm (she's actually very nearly scout sized) The only reason i'd not say that definitively is she's smaller than the One-step Strongarms so I think they are the closer direct comparison to a Scout class.

Yes RID is due to finish as a toyline in 2017 short of some miracle like the toys outselling Titans Returns. They don't seem interested in making any more cartoons and Prime didn't last long once the shows stopped.

The only thing that might extend the life is if the 1st of the batch of Movie toys is just thrown at the Generations line and isn't given much of a push and they are considering making as Predacons Rising style one-off so that might get it's own modest toyline - but Combiner Force's mini-season is just as likely to be doing that job.

But I don't expect to see much new RID after the middle of 2017 - I'd be pretty surprised if Rescue Bots lasts past 2017 either.

But anyway regardless with 3 Movies to come out in the next 3 years and no Legion class Movie toys for a while - I can't see any logical reason to not see the Movie Universe hog that size at some point in those 3 years.

I just mentioned it as I was pondering if the likes of Hound would be best given Cyberverse Commander toys - where as the cars get Legion class toys instead.

It's hard to call as One-steps and Power attackers keep getting in the way.
