As long as the game is dynamic it'll be a huge success. NPC Gestalts would make great bosses, it might not work for players becuz they would fight over who controls the Gestalt. The game would do great even without the movie, also sales of the game could help fund a sequel to the new movie.


It'd be even funner if you could buy or steal a space ship and take your bots into space and to distant planets as well as have space battles, what'd be even cooler is to have your humongous ship set on auto cruise to a planet thats 3 days away and walk around and explore your ship, make repairs and check supplies when all of sudden from the side window you see 2 huge fleets of star cruisers battling each other in space.

Only problem with multiple worlds is that you either have to make the game rediculously huge or make each world smaller, I'd rather have just Cybertron and do each city state and province in great detail. Also I doubt many people would want to wait more than a few minutes to go between worlds let alone days.

...well look at the Star Wars Galaxies MMO. It has other worlds. An not look at World Of Warcraft. It has other "realms/worlds" now. Just do something like how they do it.

An for in space battles, just do it "kinda" like how Star Wars Galaxies had it setup for space battles.... which was about the only good thing in that game... ugh.

But for scale. I think that should be huge, that way it would feel liek you are playing a huge robot. I mean after all. Some bots are diff scale sizes... even if non-gestalt ones. That way battles would be AWSOME!!!... "[drools at thought of this fantasy TransFormers MMO]".....

Each world was huge in it... um... off the top of my head... as I recall. Naboo....[quickly off top of my head]... I could travel around on a "swoop/speeder bike" fully around its world in....um.. about 20mins I think...could have been around 16-18... but no less than 15mins... of nonstop forward movement.

However due to the size/scale/detale required for a transforming MMO world+ monsters/ etc.

["""no company"""] would prob go with a World of Warcraft, loading into diff servers that are blended together as you move around it... to conserve ram/processing power...aka.. walking down the road suddenly the music starts to fade out an new music starts to fade in... {thus telling you changed zones]... etc.

I once started a forum for this at atari after Th TransFormers Armada game was released... as the sandbox world felt VERY Transformers MMO like........I once had a dream "seriously" where I found a PC version of it an ppl were making G1 TF skins/mods/bodies that you could download .... an it was so much fun....
.....then I woke up that next morning....

I was sad to have woke up from that dream.... :sad: :sad:

long time no post, can't believe this threads still going on but I'm glad it is.

I hope to the almighty matrix that they make a TF MMO with the ability to transform at will, no clicking a power icon or having to earn enough points for a transformation. If they do make it, it needs to play like a fps/action game cuz an rpg turn base style with static combat just doesn't suit the Transformers at all.

I'd be well up for something like this. I think a kind of Armoured Core/Zone of Enders (I don't play mech-games much) gameplay for the fighting, with big jumps and flying dependant on the characters, as well as the transforming abilities so we could do cool stuff like fly about as a jet and land on a rooftop as a robot to take down an enemy player, or run at a guy and tf into a road vehicle to ram him.
I don't think the world would need to be as big as WoW. Even factoring in the various cartoons and comics universes, how much of Cybertron do we really see that's that different and is there much sense of distance between places? There could be a bunch of City States that'd be nothing more than a big base for the players to hang about in and do their trading/upgrading/CR stuff. I'd say only Iacon really gets enough exploration to be made something like an actual city. Dependant upon the era the game was set in there could be either the constant sneaking around and underground nature of the Autobots under Shockwave/Megatron's rule, or it could be somewhat peaceful with the Con's army not yet having attacked the city and the citizens not being worried about the war. In between the cities would be wasteland/ruins/underground tunnels/whatever that could be used as battlefields.
I'd prefer maybe a Golden Age/War Within setting, as it could be the start of the hostilities between the 2 groups, and Optimus Prime and Megatron maybe just having taken control of their respective factions. This would allow new players to get to know the world (assuming they're not all 100% familiar with everyone) and explain why millennia old robots are all lvl 1: they've never fought a war before and have just reformatted upon joining their side. It'd probably give the best possible variety in locations as well without involving other worlds. Plus, no humans!
Instead of a particular class system, I'd suggest something like a combination of alt-mode and function, and a primary weapon, to create your tech specs. They could make it that these were changeable every now and then, but a full reformatting would be very expensive on energon. They could have the size classes (maybe Scout, Deluxe and Voyager, anything more would be NPC) and a few variations for each body/alt style, with fully customisable colour-schemes.
XP could be applicable to Tech Spec stats. Energon could be stolen, found or made from other materials, likewise power-ups like body mounted weapons or armour upgrades could be craftable for those with the right skill. At higher levels Mini-cons, Target/Headmasters and Cassette partners could become available. Special powers (like Skywarp's teleporting, Mindwipe's hypnosis, Mirage's invisiblity, etc) could be quest rewards and quite rare.
Basically I'd have it so the cities/bases were where you were (mostly) safe, although perhaps certain missions could mean you need to go to an enemy's HQ. Outside in the barren areas would be the risky places, with there being certain battlefields where war was almost constant. These places could have more NPCs (such as seeker drones or generic autobot cars) and there's tons of scope for bosses (Guardian robots anyone?). So long as there was maybe a bit more varied gameplay (or at least more exciting constant killing) than WoW it would be great.

This Idea does sound awesome, even if a game was made and didn't turn out that great I'd still play it.
I would be surprised if a TF MMO comes out sometime in the future. There seems to be a MMO for everything these days.

God I wish this game could be made. Be so much better than an MMORPG where you click an "Action" and wait for your guy to Transform or whatever. I'd love to able to speed around as a cybertronian jet and then transform in midair to bot mode to take down some flunkies I saw. It would be cool if you were able to start out at Cybertron or another planet in a huge ship, sort of like the ark, that crashed and you were a protoform with no memory or alt mode and you had an autobot search and rescue team and a decepticon recon team both trying to get you to join their side, could go either or you could hop in an escape hatch and jettison yourself and pledge allegiance to neither side and be a drifter. PRIMUS WE NEED THIS GAME!!!

This game would have so many players if they'd do it. I mean who wants to have to learn skills as a Transformer? I'd not want to play a TF Online game that gave the skill 'transform' and it took 30 seconds to do, we need to be able to transform at will. Upgrades come in various items like Armor, Transformation Cogs, Energy Core and various item ports for storage could be added at the cost of speed, strength and/or armor. Weapons wouldn't be skill as much as require skill, also Energon Credits. You'd be able to buy or "obtain" weapons through stores, missions or conflicts. No lock on and click "fire" spell to deal with, just aim and pull that trigger, requires skill and finesse, plus the blast or missile can be avoided unlike certain mmos where its avoidance is based on your level and class.

You're an Autobot scout with the alt mode of a Dune Buggy equipped with a mounted machine gun, you head out into the Deserts of Earth hunting down certain items. You come across a player who is a Decepticon and conceal your presence through an upgrade you obtained, cloaking. You're a scouter, you're high in agility but low in armor so it's best you stay hidden, you jump from rock to rock as you make your way up a slope to get a higher vantage point. At the peak you pull out your high output ion sniper rifle, you set it on the ground and take aim. You watch this Con as he walks back and forth, looks like he's looking for something, ah looks like he's found it! "What is that?" you wonder, the Decepticon is carrying what looks like a black box with purple circuits on it. You decide it's now or never and arm your rifle, carefully you aim your rifle right at his head ready to take him out in one precise shot, you're a scout and he's got some heavy cannons, if you miss and you can't get away in time you're one dead bot. He kneels down to open the box, now's your chance! BAM! The Decepticon falls to his knees, his body turns a dark charcoal color and goes completely limp, you got him. You examine the box to find it full or energon stars, a few high explosive bombs and an unknown item resembling a transformation cog. Will you become a triple changer?

That's just how I imagine it could be if they'd make this game.

Yes, this would be an awesome game. Of course, in order to attract the biggest audience, the game would have to be on several different platforms (I don't see this being like Halo, where people buy the system for the game).

Oh, and as for the gestalt thing? I read on another TF MMO thread about how the gestalt could be like a vehicle: one person controls the legs (movement), two people control the arms (primary weapons), and one person controls the torso (extra weapons and HUD).

I think gestalts might not work too well but if they did do them it could be like on Energon. They'd be drones in a way, more or less NPCs that once they trusted you enough or worked well with you and obeyed you, sort of like a squad on BF2 or CS:S where you can give orders you could press the button(s) to transform and combine and they'd follow suit. It'd be hard work though and it would have to cost something from your stats to gain that ability, like giving up a second alt mode if you were a triple changer. The advantages would be higher strength, firepower and armor. Disadvantages would be one of your combiners get killed/destroyed no Combining for you. But I think it would be best left if Combiners were NPCs altogether or maybe bosses or something.


Another thing I think would be cool would be the ability to go into space, flying TFs could do it themselves but land/water/animal TFs need to use space ships, but to make it so everyone doesn't take a jet alt mode their will be ships, transwarp drives and warpgates placed in certain areas. Flying would also have disadvantage of using a lot of energy up and if you completely run out of energy on the game you go into stasis lock, so going into stasis about halfway to Cybertron would kind of suck.

Ships, trasnwarp drives and Warp Gates would be like public transportations, they cost Energon but not a lot, but seats CAN sell out. Riding a ship is cheaper than a warp gate but it takes time, trip from Earth to Cybertron would be about a 30 minute flight, real world time. The warp gate can take up to 1 minute depending on how far away the planet is. Transwarping is instant, Stationary Transwarp Drives would cost quite a bit of Credits but are free when using for missions, Personal Transwarp drives would be devices you could use a few times before it depletes and has to be recharged, Stellar Transwarp drives would last forever and run off of your ship's energy and even if your ship runs out of energy your drive will have enough juice for one more jump so you'd have to make it count.



Not to mention, who doesn't wanna have a space battle as a Transformer!?
