Transformers Movie Non-Show characters...

Postby Saber Prime » Tue Oct 23, 2007 11:46 pm

or are they?

I was just watching the DVD and looking at all the toys for the movie and I realized, all the non-show characters in the toy line actully WERE in the movie.

I'll point out one example of what I'm talking about then let you find the rest on your own.

Movie toy Longarm...

non-show character right?

Look again.

Still don't see it?

Maybe this will help...

Note: Do not watch if you don't want spoilers and have not seen the movie yet.

Did you see him?

One more chance...

Screen cap!

Look, it's not just non-show characters but allso different paint jobs.

Check this out.

This is how Barricade actully appears in the movie...

Image

This is a toy repait of Barricade as the REAL cop car in the movie, the one that was being driven by the cop on drugs who arrested Sam.

I thought it was generally known that (aside from the fact that it says "Orson's Towing" on the figure and "Mike's Towing" in the movie) Longarm's alt-mode was the Tow Truck Mikaela had hot-wired to tow Bumblebee around town during the final battle.

Since we're on the subject of vehicles from the movie that were made into figures, Landmine from the forthcoming AllSpark Powered line is one of the vehicles the soldiers that survived Blackout's attack of the Qatar base used after they left Sector Seven with Bumblebee.

What about Dropkick, or Dreadwing? Or Payload and Swerve?

I'll answer this by quoteing myself.

I'll point out one example of what I'm talking about then let you find the rest on your own.

I then pointed out Barricade's repaint only because I thought some might not count recolors as Non-show characters if the character actully was in the movie just not in that color sceme.

The police unit that arrested Sam didn't look a thing like Recon Barricade (which is what I think you used here). I had a good enough look at that repaint last week to know that wasn't a police car. It was a security vehicle, that you'd see working Mall Security.

I don't think any of the repaints appear in the movie, nor do any of the "non-show characters" besides the alt-modes for Longarm, Landmine and maybe Arcee (the motorcycle) and Dreadwing (whose jet mode resembles the Raptor).

Let me remind you that Dropkick, Dreadwing, Payload, and Swerve are all what what I think your calling "non-show characters". Unless of course by "non-show characters" you actually mean show characters that get repainted.

My vote for the HOF goes to my favorite Transformer, Kup, to the Headmasters (who still need new figures that aren't just the characters without their master components) and to seibertron.com for for being the ultimate TF resource.

It didn't? Looks like it to me. White/greyish car with blue stripe around the sides, yup same car. Only real difference between the toy and the car in the movie is that the car in the movie was not actully Barricade and therefore did not have Decepticon logos and the words "To Punish and Inslave" on it like the toy version of Recon Barricade. Other than thoughs minor details the cars are the same.

Just like with the tow truck/Longarm haveing different company names from movie to toy is a minor detail. The overall paint job, a white tow truck with blue flames, same vehicle.

If you wanna get real technical and look at all the small little insigificant details of the toys NON of the characters in the toy line were ever in the movie. Or for that matter no toy Transformer in any toy line has ever appeared in any cartoon, movie, or comic.

Down to the point, stop looking at all the tiny little detailing and look at the big picture.

I don't think any of the repaints appear in the movie, nor do any of the "non-show characters" besides the alt-modes for Longarm, Landmine and maybe Arcee (the motorcycle) and Dreadwing (whose jet mode resembles the Raptor).
And the alt modes is exactly what the topic is about. Of course the transformers of the toy line weren't in the movie AS transformers but they WERE in the movie as normal Earth vehicles. (And for all we know they could have been exsposed to the Allspark radiation and become thoughs characters but we just never see them Transform)

Arcee was indeed in the movie or at least her alt mode was.

Dreadwing, just correcting you on this, is NOT a Raptor. The F-22 Raptor is Starscream's alt mode. http://www.hasbro.com/transformers/defa ... t_id=19702

Dreadwing looks a little like Armada Thrust in robot mode. Doesn't say what the jet is called but it's completly different from Starscream's. http://www.hasbro.com/transformers/defa ... t_id=20197

Dreadwing is a Su 37 "flanker", a Russian military aircraft.
The F-22 "raptor" is a US fighter jet.I don't remember seeing any Russians
in the movie and the US does not operate Russian aircraft

Longarm - Tow truck Mikaela drives; they're actually releasing a remold soon that will have Mikaela in the driver's seat.

Stockade - Either the unmarked SUVs that S7 drives to the Witwicky house (it does say S7 on it) or the SUV that comes to life and attacks its passengers near the end.

Incinerator - V-22 Osprey that brings Josh Duhamel's squad back to Qatar.

Landmine - S-7 Dunebuggy that Josh Duhamel's squad follows Bumblebee in.

Arcee - Motorcycle Josh Duhamel uses to attack Blackout.

The rest are pretty much all either:

1) Gimmicky repaints of movie characters - Nightwatch Optimus Prime, Deep Desert Brawl..

2) Homage repaints of movie toys as pre-movie characters - Target Exclusive Starscream, Thundercracker, Rescue Ratchet, Evac, Cliffjumper...

3) Characters from the TF video game - Swindle and I assume Payload and Dreadwing. I still haven't gotten to play it. :-(
Check out my books, Titanomachies and Divine Retribution, on my blog!

Don't worry about it. I just don't remember meaning it that way is all. Didn't fee like it was nitpicking like that anyway. Besides...Kinda rhetorical.

Caelus wrote:Stockade - Either the unmarked SUVs that S7 drives to the Witwicky house (it does say S7 on it) or the SUV that comes to life and attacks its passengers near the end.

I'd say the former. Could have gone either way though.

Caelus wrote:Characters from the TF video game - Swindle and I assume Payload and Dreadwing. I still haven't gotten to play it.

Yep. They're drone robots that appear in the game and comics. Not to keep nitpicking but Longarm was marked as a video game character when I bought him too.

What about the Target-exclusive basics? Aren't those repaints of Energon and Cybertron figures? Pretty sure they weren't in the movie.

And I'm pretty sure protoform Starscream wasn't in the movie either. Seemed to me he'd already been on Earth and scanned the F-22, we just didn't see him until Frenzy found the AllSpark.

I actully completly forgot about Protoform Starscream till you brought it up.

I actully think it's kinda strainge they made a Protoform that doesn't appear in the movie but there are no toys of Jazz, Ironhide, and Ratchet who were in the movie.

Only the major divisions are in the movie, i.e. Deluxe, Voyager, Leader class.

All the exclusives and repaints are not in the movie. There were not even supposed to be packaged with the movie series.

As for Protoform Starscream, it appears he is the only Deluxe not found in the movie. Although, there could be an attempt to field him in, in the initial drafts. Only, he didn't make it to the final cut. But this is only my own speculation.
