Transformers Prequel Comic

Postby Swerve » Thu Mar 01, 2007 12:07 pm

Anyone read the first part of the prequel comic that came out the other day? I read through it and wasn't really impressed. Honestly when I first heard about the comic on this site I read the little outline about it. After actually reading the comic, you don't find out any new information other than what was posted here. I was some what disappointed because I felt there would be more to it and that it would go in to greater detail, granted this is only the first installment but it seemed to be a very short, uneventful read.

I'm waiting for it to come to the UK, because it looks so awesome!

I'm hoping the series will pick up. It started out kind of slow.

The series has started but really it was somewhat of a lackluster and short story. I was suprised after I read it only to find that the outline I read on here was about as thorough as the comic itself. It will be another month before the story advances further than what little it did.

Enjoyed the first issue of the prequel storywise; I'm not entirely sold on the movie designs, but maybe that'll change some when they're moving around on-screen.

you don't find out any new information other than what was posted here.

It's not always a good idea to read spoiler reviews if you're easily spoiled.

As for short... there's a full background for the hunt for the matrix and its role on Cybertron, before we get to the "character interest" bits such as Tyger Pax's last stand. Not many comics pack more into an introductory issue.

It really wasn't a spoiler, it was a news update and I felt that surely there was more to the first issue than that. Many comics do put more into the first issue than this one did. If it weren't for the fact that I knew what the characters were supposed to look like in proto form and a few times characters names were said, I would have no idea who Bumblebee was among a few others. I just feel like the issue was very short.

No, it hasn't. The first issue isn't out until next week.

I agree. Like Denyer I did a review before it came out and I loved it.

I picked up a copy on Wednesday, 02/28/06, the shop had both the color and black and white versions as well as variant covers. I really liked the GI Joe vs Transformers line and the guy at the shop made a point of letting me know the movie prequel arrived. I'm not giving up on the series yet, it was only one issue.

Full review and synopsis? I'd call that a spoiler, just like reading the script to a film and checking out the designs for the characters.

the shop had both the color and black and white versions as well as variant covers

Then they've ignored requests from both Diamond and IDW -- the colour issues have major printing errors (the corrected print run will be shipping to be in-store for the 7th) and shouldn't be sold. There was also a request to wait on the black and whites and sell them with the corrected colour copies.
