That's kinda my point. Anything that isn't G1 is wrong. However, if we just get G1 characters over and over and over, the series and product would very quickly become stale.

craggy wrote: HOWEVER, as said in my original post, I think it'd be fair for Hasbro to get some audio/visual entertainment out there for those of us who've grown up with the franchise, and have enjoyed the more complex (if only slightly so in some cases) depictions of their characters that have appeared in other media..

Good point there. I wouldn't mind seeing a G1 rehashing. I've always kind of felt that some of the original eps would be cool if redone with this style CGI, and lengthened to an hour to allow for more plot development.

craggy wrote: I didn't give Beast Wars a chance at first, cause they were all realistic looking animals and it wasn't really Prime and Megatron. The usual stuff. But once I started watching the show I really got to like it, even before the G1 fan-service stuff got added.

Another good point, but that also kind of makes MY point. It's different and different is evil. So many here are already decrying the death of the Transformers series without even giving it a chance! You can't just do that. If humans historically poo-pooed or shied away from anything different, we'd still be living in caves and picking bugs off of each other in social grooming circles. Humanity thrives on change, though often it is resisted. For all anyone knows, this new series could raise the bar for what is expected of Transformers to new heights altogether. Or it could suck. We don't know. But you really just can't come out and look at a picture of say "OMG, tHiS is teh suCksAge! I'll need psychotherapy to recover my damaged childhood dreams!" It's the whole "book and it's cover" argument.

craggy wrote:another thing First-Aid, I can't look at the box for Resolute, because it hasn't been released in my country, but there wasn't anything in that show that I don't think a cartoon about giant robots wouldn't get away with for children. A man with a samurai sword chopping up nameless grunts might not work for the censors, but I reckon they'd be a tad more forgiving to robot-on-robot violence. I don't know about the US ratings for the live-action films, but there was a lot of stuff in the first one that very definitely wasn't aimed at the kids. And even if it was PG13, I think so was The Dark Knight and I know there were a lot more little kids getting taken to see that than there really should have been, IMO.

There actually was a lot of conflict and outrage at the ratings for Transformers when it came out. It really pushed the lines for what is allowed in a PG 13 movie. In fact, I think that they had to edit a few things out ("Whoa mother-(dead air)!) and Spielberg had to pull some strings to get the rating it did. The Dark Knight was the violent, but there was virtually no blood in the movie, and very little swearing. If kids could sit still for the movie long enough (and it was a LONG movie) and understand what was going on, they could enjoy it. But the movie was aimed more at young adults and teens obviously. Resolute DID have a ton of stuff that the censors would not allow on a kids show: a control room covered in blood and a hand painted Cobra symbol out of said blood comes to mind, but that movie was obviously aimed at those adults who were familiar with the franchise. There was even less character development in that movie than in ROTF...and that's saying something. Let me amend that: there was NO character development in it. It was assumed that the viewers knew the main characters. Some thing like that for G1 would be cool, yes, especially if it were more like the novel trilogy as far as consequences to humans (they got splattered a lot, which is a heck of a lot more realistic than normal...get in between two giant warring robot factions, and you're gonna get stepped on). My point is just that people need to give it a chance...like you did for Beast Wars. They may be surprised.
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

Still, I wish we'd get a new series not having to do with the movie, like how the Unicron trilogy introduced Minicons, new characters, Cyber keys, etc, while Animated had the allspark and such immediately following the movie, and this series will probably not be much different form the movie-verse with the same writers

IDK about the writers of the movie verse writing the cartoon, but I would love it if Michael Bay directed the cartoon! Movie verse action in cartoon form!

No, just no.

If you won't agree with me that Michael Bay is a hack, then please just respect the fact that I don't want the movieverse bleeding into the rest of the franchise anymore than it already has.

Lollies aren't as sweet as they were, you get annoyed at the neighbour's kids screaming at 4 in the afternoon, f**king taxes, gray hairs and "human drama" in a kiddies cartoon. Growing up sucks. We all gotta deal, because as much as I'm sure we all like to think so, the buying power of adults who grew up in the 80s probably doesn't come close to the kiddie masses nagging their parents.

I'll tolerate any brats on the promise of roboticide.

I like the idea of a younger Ratchet, though being a kiddy directed show, it probably won't be the progression of him goign from a young, idealistic, caring doctor, to a surly, battle weary, SOB House. Although that would be cool.

And Prime looks like he's photobombing that image.
Something memorable here.

Dear Hasbro,
y'know how GI Joe Resolute was f'ng awesome? Please apply the same formula to the Transformers brand and reap the benefits of having a show that respects those who've been with the franchise since the start. I won't even mind if it is a one-off like Resolute, or even if it's alongside yet another kiddie TF show. Hell, Beast Wars was kiddie-TF but it still managed to be entertaining and respectful. Good stories with G1-like characters need not be confined to comics.

...

Beast Wars was kiddie?

Beast Wars, with the cannibal Rampage?

Beast Wars, with the character design of Blackarachnia based off a stripper?

Beast Wars, with Megatron attempting genocide against proto-humans?

With only seven out of twenty named characters not dying?

With Code of effin' Hero?

With some of the deepest character development in the franchise, with the bad guys winning their fair share of battles, this is kiddie to you????

:???: :roll: =;

As for Prime? I think the designs are different. You know, like every other series has been. Human drama? Sure! I'll watch it and judge it on more than a frikkin' picture and one blurb!

Well, you could have called it kiddie in those days. TV was different then, heck, the whole slaggin world was different then. Why, back in my day-...

Anyway I'm planning to give this show a chance, since it's not directly related to the movie (so it seems), but if it doesn't impress me as much as Animated I'm back to re-watching Beast Wars and reading IDW again. :BANG_HEAD:

Eh, I liked BW, it was m main show when I was little...
I'm gonna give this show a chance though, only thing that bugs me is if there was a toyline and this is semi movie verse...the toys won't look right together and cartoon only characters will be without movie styled counterparts...

Well, I do know for that it was during a time period where it was still considered "okay" for kids to watch complex and violent TV programs. Actually, I may just be confusing it for the nineties again.
