Star Wars, however, needs another trilogy. I know Mark, Carrie, and Harrison aren't dead yet.

He does voices for animated series now. The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series was probably his most prominent.

Same goes for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe - it's been in development for a good 3-4 years at least. Some recent rumblings could mean that things are starting to move forwards again for the MOTU movie. Just like with Voltron - this TF movie hasn't been a part of development process considerations.

If the guys running the Transformers movie were on the project, Kirk would be played by some boring asshat like Van Damme or The Rock... you know, because it "wouldn't be possible" to hire someone with a similar look or expression of character.

Back then, they were probably too distracted that the engine room was run by a Russian, there was a tiny "Nip" running the controls, and the communications were handled by a woman who was also negro.![]()
(Wasn't the show cancelled due to poor ratings? lol)

I can't see them including the Oedipus complex, end-of-the-world psychosis, scenes of extreme gore, beer-drinking penguin, Christian terminology applied to monsters, or any of the other things that made the series so infamous and different into a 2-hour PG-13 movie. Even with a visionary director it's have to be gutted and watered-down for a mainstream audience. Then we'd have people going "it was an overrated and cheesy series to begin with and the monster fights were the best part" and arguing with people who really love the the series for everything it was. It'd be the Transformers movie all over again.

This TF movie has been part of development process considerations, though. For a start, all movies are. Also, this film has been in development officially since 2003, and no doubt the property was being tossed around Hollywood before then.
As for He-Man...I hope it finally gets off the ground! Every year I read about new developments or new setbacks.

Actually Roland Emmerich directed Stargate and Independance day and The Patriot, not dean devlin.

Explains why I never understood the ending no matter how many times I watched the entire series.

My point, which I had thought was pretty clear, is that this Transformers movie has not been influential in the development of either the Voltron or MOTU movies. The new TF movie hasn't even come out yet, ergo it can not possibly have figured into anyone's calculations concerning the Voltron or MOTU movies.

That's because Devlin is a producer. The only directing experience he has in his entire career is as the 2nd Unit Director on Independence Day.
And he produced every single film I listed.
