yeah, it only does that in "try me" mode. when i leave it on my display shelf, i leave it in try me mode. its a little bit better than being off: it won't spring to life and repeatedly ask "permission to speak, sir!" or wear down the battery quickly, but I can still make it do a few sound effects at the press of a button. and they're sound-effects that it doesn't do in regular mode.

Actually, I got the answer to my own question : in robot mode, just hold the button located on BB's back for several seconds and it'll trigger the Transformers theme. I was able to do it by holding the chest button as well.

My favorite is the "Is anyone there?" line and then I look over and say yes and his tard ass still shuts off. Grrr.

I also discovered a new sound recently.
1) press and hold the yellow button on BB's waist until you hear the sound of rapid firing of guns
2) quickly release then press the yellow button again. this will trigger a distinct "POW" sound on top of the rapid firing of guns

As a car, he's pretty awesome.

Do you mean his legs split apart? I had problem with my UBB and got it replaced. He was missing an important piece which makes one of his legs loose (making him split... though only with his defective leg). Here are some pics of the defect:

okay.. posability sucks.. most of the electronics suck pretty hard core. .. the one arm is way too short.. the movie bumblebee.. when his arm turns into the gun, the hand goes in and the gun part comes out.. that area just doesn't disappear.. and the arm doesn't even bend.. the other arms hand doesn't even twist, and the kibble on the legs suck. and the chest. even when it's all folded looks terrible.. it looks like some woman with really saggy breasts. it would be much better if folded up higher, and you would think that it would at least be able to look more accurate than the deluxe concept bumblebee (and that is already pretty accurate) but it's not, they had so much room to work with with the chest.. and they couldn't even do that.. the songs are awful.. i could understand if they were songs from either movie.. if they were going for the 80's feel they should have just paid whoever they had to to get the songs from the original movie.

don't get me wrong i like the figure a lot. but for the price. a lot more attention could have been made to detail, and there could have been better songs on there since there HAD to be songs in it.

It's not that it is the biggest or most difficult to Transform, it just represents all that a Transformer should be.

I don't collect any Transformers merchandise beyond the toys.

I know Ult Bumblebee is essentially a toy, but because he is not part of a line or compatible in any way with any previous released toys, he will never see my shelves.

Punch, I know that's you. Where's CP?

(I really wanted to just reply with 'He's f'n dead dude!!!', that struck me as really funny for some reason...)

It's just a boundaries thing for me. I'm sure it's a very cool toy and display piece. I just wouldn't know what to do with one if I had it. It's kind of like how I don't buy Revoltech or anything else that falls only under the 'collectable' category.
I know what you mean, it's like saying the Deluxe and Voyagers and Leaders are the main thing ey? And like collectibles are cool... but they don't belong to the real line. I get'cha even if I didn't put in the right words. You must push on CP! Do what you must!

I snagged him up yesterday. He's definitely a cool item, but eh ... if I wasn't trying to be a completist of the movie line I would've passed on him. Very expensive, and his transformation is very uninspiring.

Deluxe '08 BB FTW!

I agree with the arm cannon being too short AND lacking in the articulation dept. Also, I'm not crazy about the way his doors don't quite "lock in" for alt mode. The fact that one has to remove the doors and let them dangle from tethers while transforming him is quite stupid as well.

In the movie ... BB wasn't like "please excuse me Mr. Barricade sir, I need a head start for my escape ... having door issues today."

Now if they made their escape with doors dragging on the ground and sparks flying, this feature would obviously be necessary on the toy.

The gimmicks do turn him into a bulky mess, but at least there are PLENTY of them.

Boy is he huge!

Take your rulers guy because BB's left arm is exactly the same lenght as his right arm at the wrist, which is perfectly normal since the hand is supposed to retract. I thought it was super obvious.

did you see the movie?
bumblebees hand does retract.. but the barrel of the gun grows to as long as his hand would be.

watch the beginning of this and you will be immediately proven wrong.

Oh wait, it's a few millimeters too short. What a drama! It always amazes me to see adults complaining about such ridiculous issues.

ehh, even if his arms were xactly the same, the transformation scheme about taking doors off.. kinda make it just seem like a big R.E.V. toy.
definetly pass.
delux 08 is the only bb for me. and that widdle robot hero bb, he's so cute you can just stick him in your pocket and take him anywhere

who cares what it measures. If your cock was 12", yet looked stubby and deformed ... you would complain.

My point is, we are all entitled to our opinion. That is what this thread is about. Given the traffic on here ... every thread is going to be attacked from all angles of perspective. The original poster loves it, but there are some who don't.

I like him, but his right arm is a bit silly to me. I don't care what anyone else says.

I could give a massive list of Transformers that need part removal (COMPLETE part removal, not partial removal like Bumblebee since the doors are still attached to the car) for transformation. Why don't you see the wires as a rubber-wrapped mechanical structures (like Doc Ock's arms) able to move the doors into position? Maybe not movie accurate, but still realistic for a robot.

Question, why do you have such a hardon for the movie toys? You always seem to go to extremes to defend them instead of just accepting that different people have different opinions. If I'm out of line I'm sure somebody will let me know, but I can't be the only person here curious about that.

Because too many stupid/illogical/baseless/entirely wrong reasons are given to bitch about said toys? Bring me solid arguments (like obvious problems like Brawl's shoulders, for example) and I *might* listen.

Btw, UBB does have a waist joint. Not sure it's been mentionned before, I just found out about it this morning. Very limited range of movement, but it's there.

Also, the yellow plastic has some sparkles to it. Finally, the painted windows, although not see-through, do look like actual tinted windows to some degree. Much better effect than what we got DLX '77 BB.

adults .. adults shopping in a toy store, or toy section is ridiculous.. but i still do it.. as do a lot of other people.. this site wouldn't be anything without adults.. and what do you think a transformers toy forum is for? why even argue with your little ruler comment??

the point is.. it's relatively expensive compaired to everything else from the movie, and it would have been nice if more attention was paid to the physical details rather than corny songs that don't remind me of anything transformers. the "wrist" cannon looks tuny compared to the other arm.. not to mention it can't even bend at the elbow and there is enough room for it if it was proper length. there are a lot of things on it that could be more accurate. but the arm issue makes it look extremely asymmetrical which is exremely aesthetically unappealing.

The problem is that even when somebody brings you a solid argument you dismiss it as wrong and act like you're the be all, end all of TF opinions. Why even bother saying *might* when we all know you won't.

Because of the mecanism inside. It makes the black dial spin as the arm is raised to trigger the missile. An elbow joint would have killed the gimmick.
