Word of Primes death reach's Ultra Magnus, visiting from Cybertron, and he makes the rash decision of taking out both Shockwave and Megatron in one fell swoop. Assume he's able to catch them alone, without their troops protecting them.

ShockWave and Megatron, that is assuming Megatron isn't adrift in space

Are you talking G1 because that isn't how it happened?

Ultra Magnus unfortunately bites off more than he can chew when he goes after both Shockwave and Megatron either one is capable of destroying Ultra Magnus on his own never mind a team up of the two against Magnus.
No matter how you slice this Magnus loses.

Pretty much...

I would say simply Shockwave and Megatron would blast Ultra Magnus at the same time.........thus maing Ultra Magnus a big pile of wrecked parts.............

Magnus can't deal with fighting them now!

And Magnus would be scrapped.

The UK comics basically differed from the US comics by having a number of "filler" storylines written up by Simon Furman, mostly revolving around a WAY overpowered version of Galvatron (He actually physically dominated Piranicon underwater, trading shots and everything), and other movie characters like Wreck Gar and Rodimus Prime making time jumps to 1985-86, facing Megatron and other regular continuty folks. Furman had it so Ultra Magnus was never included in the time jumps, but instead opted to remain in 2006, while his younger counterpart on 1985 was involved with a revolution on Cybertron. One noteable story had Ultra Magnus hunting down and attempting to excecute Optimus Prime on Cybertron, on the false information leaked by Megatron that this Optimus is an imposter. Of course, eventually the truth is revealed, and Megatron gets his. But, almost immediately after that Furman story, they have Optimus's "official" comic book death.

To get an idea on how powerful Furmans Ultra Magnus is, he managed to hold off UK Galvatron for 20 minutes before falling. Scorponok, who slugged it out evenly with Shockwave once (Who himself is a close rival of Megatron), lasted about 20 seconds, if even that, before getting his chest punched clean through.

He also manhandled Megatron, although he hit him from behind first. But he did hold him in the air by the throat and taunt the guy, then tossed him down pretty hard.

Depends, is this UK Shockwave? Cuase it took a guy that beats down UK Scourge and Cyclonus like Daredevil beats down Turk to take him out.

Regular continuity Shockwave DID take a point blank Fusion Cannon attack from Megatron without visable damage, so he was no pushover either, and Furman had UK Shockwave imply Megatron was much more powerful on a few occasions, like telling Megs he's prepared to be blown apart after the Predacon incident, and assuming only Megatron had the raw power to tackle Galvatron.

But yeah, you can use the best from US or UK continuity on wherever it's applicable.

Magnus gets blown away.
