I’m under the assumption "leader class" was created for the movie line and used for characters deemed important enough to get a huge figure. They look great on your coffee table, but aren’t really in scale with any other figures.
I still could care less about the fists. So they don’t swivel, who cares ? The wrists/fists are molded in the proper human anatomy for most poses. Granted, being able to swivel the wrists would allow for more poses. But considering most everyone will be displaying this figure with classics Cyclonus (another figure with no wrist swivel) I don’t see a big deal. It goes quite well with the figures it was made to display with. You’re not paying $115 for a figure with extreme possibility (such as MP figures) You’re paying $115 to have a properly scaled Galvatron that doesn’t transform into stupid tank or plane. I think that’s what UT was shooting for, and they pulled it off nicely.
The only thing I find annoying is all the white on the cannon tip. But there are multiple options:
• Paint it metallic orange with spray paint
• Leave it alone and call it “neo”
• E-mail Reprolabels and suggest a Mania King label set that includes orange cannon labels
I think you're assumptions about "leader class" is wrong. Didn't they made "leader class" figures in Energon/Armada/ and Cybertron.
I've still not made up my mind on the figure. I don't really want it but I see all the good points of it too. Best classics Galvatron? definitely. Funny looking Gorilla bicep curling arms? yea its still there =/ and it still bugs me. Reviews and in-hand pictures of this guy will sway me one way or another.
AEC,Animated & The movie verse had leader class figures.
While not exactly named leader class. We all know certain MP toys are in the leader scale. MP-9,MP-10 & MP Grimlock are all leader scale toys. BH Ultimate Target $50 Predaking,is in leader scale in robot mode.
It's debattable if TFP $32 Weaponizers Optimus should be considered leader size or ultra size.
2001 RID bigger Optimus & Magnus,Sold as $29 Super sized toys. In 2014,These toys would easily sell at over $40 & be considered leader scale.
Beast Wars Optimal Optimus,Would be considered a Leader sized toy in 2014.
X,I disagree, some or most view the Leader sized TF toys as top notch Ultimate versions. The reasons I dislike the basics & deluxes so much is because cheaper materials, less parts & more short cuts get done with these toys.
HasTak,Has even said in countless interviews. That it takes much longer to create the leader sized TF toys compared to the smaller ones. Due to stronger materials, more parts, higher sculpt getting put into these leader sized TF toys.
