Ok..
I have recently become a huge fan of the R.I.D. Optimus Prime, and I know we had a thread running on this subject that gave love to the Omega Prime, but I wanted to touch base on the concepts that were presented back in R.I.D.
The optimus Prime as a Fire truck, to me, is pure geniuos.. i mean he's a badass robot in his own right, and a fitting homage to the Original big rig, that was G-1 Optimus Prime. Now I have read the rumors and understand that an Optimus Prime in the new cartoon will be a Fire Truck once again..
I am completely behind this decision and am excited to say the least to see what form he will take this time..I must say that I am certainly glad I got my hands on R.I.D. Prime before the stock and value of this figure goes up, due to the new incarnation of the next cartoon series..
As combiner Primes go, i feel that this version is certainly one of the best.. I wasn't too impressed with the supermode Prime that was presented in the Armada Line, and I'm not a big fan of the almost gestalt version in Energon..leave that to Bruticus and devestator..But a combiner I'm okay with, because he is similar to Star Saber in that respect..And Star Saber is one of my favorite figures outside of the Prime arena..
I dare say my next purchase will be the Robot Masters Star Saber and Victory Leo...
But my hopes for a Real "life like" Optimus Prime Fire truck are what makes me excited about the new series coming out. i just hope its a little more serious in tone and not too pokemonish in direction like the Car Robots Series...Still I can imagine a nice fire truck like this one being a great replacement for the original G-1 Optimus Prime..
I mean he's a rescue vehicle and a hero in that respect and form, ever since 911 we have viewed the fire department with renewed admiration,I mean what a marketing genious instead of little kids wanting to grow up to be a truck driver and closer to their hero Optimus Prime, they could be a fire fighter, and actually be called a "Hero"..its a magical idea and certainly profitable, no wonder why they went back to that concept..
I know red alert and inferno were the trucks that dealt with fire, but there are different versions of fire rescue that can be used for them..
Yet, How do you top whats already been done?
this is a large body truck, no ladder, hose truck version:

http://www.fgiltd.com/images/library/A398.gifCould this possibly be the next prime?
http://images.hobbytron.com/NA-0506-lg.jpgAll in all, i gotta say, i love the big red rigs, and if we get a nicely done Optimus Prime in Fire truck format, i'm glad that he's big, red and doesn't have flames.. but puts them out.. He he he..
Seriously, whats wierd about the whole thing, is I have become more intersted in the omega prime and optimus Prime from R.I.D. lately, and that was before I even knew that they were redoing the fire truck in the new cartoon series..I am very glad though that I purchased him when i did, I think the availability and cost of the Car Roboits Prime is only going to go up with the new series bringing back the old fire truck..so get em while you can..
I for one wouldn't mind if Prime became a fire truck for the live action movie, atleast he'd be in red colors and more of a homage to the original in that respect..still I am very excited about the movie regardless.. and since there seems to be an almagam of aspects for the movie taken from each series, who knows maybe prime will end up a fire truck..
