I'm just waiting for one of the other guys to lock it. Until that time, I'm just conversing.

By saying this: "Then he says they do not plan on getting any more. That's it. Nothing. Nada."

I've worked at Wal-mart before, I know they can run out of stock. But for an employee to out and out tell a customer they won't be getting any more is just poor people skills. It reflects poorly on not only the company but that particular store in general. I have had the same experience with the Wal-mart in Ajax and I've not set foot in it since because of being treated like an idiot by someone who can barely hang on to their grade nine.

You don't know what context he means. I would assume he meant they wouldn't be getting anymore anytime soon, which does in fact hold true. Perhaps if the OP delved further into the answer and even provided a one word question/response ("...ever?") instead of throwing a hissy fit, he probably would've gotten to the bottom of this.

Personally, if I heard that, I would assume he meant "not for a while", ask him if he did indeed mean that, and if he said otherwise, I would just think, "meh, this guy probably doesn't know any better" and move on.

Why not just post in the 14 page Target Refresh thread that I started for this purpose?

Yeesh, people, the toys will come. Why not just sit down and play with the ones you do have during the wait?

You may very well be right. I only explained it the way I did because I've had an employee tell me to my face that their store has dis-continued Transformers. I had a good laugh at that. It's like going into the electronics department in Wal-mart and someone saying they won't be selling DVDs anymore.

But I do see what you're saying. I could see how anyone could misconstrue the statement. Just so you know, I wasn't trying to fight the bad fight here, I was just into the conversation.

Hey PrimeSuspect, I think this thread surpasses the same ol Target thread, so lighten up will ya. No harm being done here. ;)^

It's not something I do, but he had it coming. He was actually annoyed that I had asked him. Sure, I bet he's been asked the same question over and over every day. I know, I used to work for retail too. I had my fair share, but he was being a smart ass, and if you were there, you'd know it too. The thing with this thread is that I didn't feel it belonged in the Target thread since it is more about the way I was treated than looking for the product itself. If anyone doesn't see the point of it, do us all a favor, and DON'T post here. Simple as that. Those that do, are more than welcome.

Target in general has never been a bright shining beacon of customer service for me, personally. But the way he acted, was pure B.S., and I am one who does not take it well when lied to. He was basically saying for me to get lost, and never come back looking for anything TF related again, and that's crap.

i only occasionally ask an employee for toy info, usually if the target reader says that there is stuff in the stock room and im looking for an item not on the shelf.

Im really polite about it, they usually want to be helpful but I find that they seem to misunderstand what im trying to achieve. I'll say 'im looking for a PARTICULAR toy in this line, ie the $9.99 group' and then they will start rummaging in the titanium lot and saying 'maybe this one?' then if they finally do go in the back, i will describe it simply as a 'red plane' or 'blue car' as im not going to ask for jetfire or bumblebee of whatever. I'll be honest, most of the time its like the staff member is lobotomised, im sure if somebody challenged me to find a particular apricot nut facial scrub in the cosmetics section i'd be able to do that fairly rapidy, but just seems mentally sorting those $9.99 planes from 7.99 cars is too much!

Man, I came up today. Went to Target and all they got in were some Brawl and barricade deluxes but then a friend of mine went to Walmart and told me they had a BB and Barricade two pack that is a walmart exclusive. I went over there and picked that up quic plus I got the 08 BB concept!!! Finally, plus I picked up a long arm and Final Battle Jazz. No luck with Arcee though.

No, you're not. I found jack during my visit today.

Well, they had Wave 2 Real Gears (and a single Titanium RID Prime, for some reason; perhaps he came in with the Tit Ultra Magnus figures that I still have yet to see with my own eyes?), but that's it. Pass.

I have worked at Target for quite awhile and have dealt with a lot of "collectors". I will honestly say that our team members don't usually like dealing with them. There have been a lot of problems with individuals in the past that has soured how we look at collectors. They have gotten into screaming matches and even threatened violence when they didn't get what they wanted. Some would hide collectibles under the base decks to come back later, others would accuse us or the stock team of taking the good stuff. When they limited collector items, they would buy one and then go outside and change clothes and come back in to buy another....others would drag their kids or someone's kids in to buy for them or to convince us that little Jimmy does in fact want that toy. I could go on, but you get the point.

I realize that there are passionate collectors out there, but there seem to be a lot more Ebayers/collectors. We usually have at least 3-4 collectors waiting at the door every morning...some of them go right to specific area and some will look and buy different items. Target has seen these issues and has shortened their selection of items, especially diecast. We are also not allowed to check for collectibles in the back. You have to understand that Target basically makes their money on the shopper that will go throughout the store and buy multiple items...not someone that comes in taking up a lot of time looking for a specific collectible. I am the Team Lead in Toys and there is a lot of work to be done everywhere and with payroll cuts, there just isn't enough time.

I don't have a problem with collectors, but to a lot of people, these things are just toys. When you come in looking for something....don't lie or make up stories or throw tantrums....that will get you no help now or in the future. A lot of these items are hot and will sell out fast....we don't have hidden stash piles in the back or small elves making more. Also don't call and ask us to check for a list of specific figures...geeez.

One last thing....you gotta love the people who look at retail workers like trash beneath them. I believe a couple of posters here called us "stock boys" and bottom of the chain....NICE!

i stock shelves at wal mart and it does get old when people assume since theres none on the floor that were hording them all in the back to make theyre day worse. If i know we have them in the back ill tell people to check back in a few days, but that is just unacceptable to some, im supposed to drop everything and go hunt it down. That is after all "what i get paid for" NOT!!! i get paid to assist customers and stock shelves not hunt for something that isnt out or i havent seen for months. people act like we have a distribution center in the back. :-x and ive gotten the stock boy thing a few times

That was a very good first post RG. I was in the same position at the Wal-Mart I worked at. Everything you said I completely agree on, bar a few things. But for the most part I agree with the whole thing. I've been called a stock boy to my face by kids, teens and adults alike and it never really got under my skin. I myself enjoyed taking the calls about a particular figure, but then again I'm a pretty good people person. I've seen those collectors that snap on staff too, 99% of what I've seen were the Hot Wheels collectors and the other 1% were Star Wars collectors.

It's the good customers that made everything worth while. I would liek to think that I'm one of those good customers now. There is one toy store in Toronto called The Silver Snail and everytime they put a figure or two aside for me I bring them in a box of Cini-bon. Not because of the effortless task of putting the $10 item behind a table, but because each and every single time I go in there they treat me like a friend. That to me is great customer service. But, that's just me.

Well, that goes both ways. I've spoken to some people at various WalMarts and Targets, and while most are polite and helpful some are just downright rude. I've even been hung up on for politely asking if they'd check the shelves (I never ask them to check in the back) for a single figure.

Not everyone's a scalper or foaming-at-the-mouth collector.

I've also never asked to see whats in the back, because I know if there's something in the back, it's overstock. I have however had people tell me that they will check their computers and then go into the back on there own to look. That I find pretty nice.
