Bumblebee-otch wrote:no, they're really brothers in the movie. on the DS game, they both call each other brother. i doubt megs would say something like that because he just wanted to connect with his fellow cybertronian.

Dark Zarak wrote:No, it's a metaphorical matter.
Prime calls him "Brother" because it's a gesture of goodwill and kindness, an acknowledgement that all TF's are one race and the fighting is pointless and wrong.
Don't take things so literally.

As much as I'd love to believe this, in a coloring book in the toy section at wal mart for the movie adaptation it clearly states they were brothers on cybertron and that they had "differences" of how things should be run.
I'd love that it could be metaphorical but this is the only thing I do NOT like about the movie. There is absolutly zero need for the two of them to be related. They never have been before this, but I've read other documentation on this to know that they are by this movie, sibs.
The conflict between them is strong enough due to their character's motives and drive. There is no need to make the two of the relatives. Who cares? We're done with Star Wars, ok?

Couldn't agree more.
The reason is that Kurtzman and Orcii aren't good enough writers to realize that. Or John Rogers isn't. Or they are but they think all of us are too stupid to understand good character drama. Either way, they thought they had to invent a motive and a fake conflict.

One ending that would have been better than Megatron bitch slapping Prime, and wasting the dialogue "one shall stand, one shall fall..." Prime takes the Allspark from Sam, is about to push it into his chest, and Megatron, realising what is about to happen, lunges foward to stop Prime, screaming " the Allspark is mine!" or something. But Prime was tricking him, and at the last moment, says" Take it!" and smashes it into Megatrons chest! As he begins to melt, staggering back, doing a wicked witch of the west routine, Prime says " you left me no choice brother" And that is where the movie as we know it picks up. Oh well! Thats how I like to imagine it. Bad punctuation and all.
