I sit here wishing that Hasbro would license Transformers to more than just IDW Publishing. They have about a hundred titles coming out in the next year and I am not interested in any of them.
It seems that someone is really pushing the movie verse. Personally, I shun the movie verse. There are talented artists and writers, but I just do not enjoy the way the robots look or the new personalities.
I would like to see a new G1 series that has a beginning, a middle, and an end. Completely self contained and not like what I read from IDW.
(This is my IDW rant: I got into comics with Infiltration because I liked the characters and the way they were drawn. The story was proving to be very interesting until it kind of just ended at the end of escalation due to a decision by IDW. Don't get me going on Revelation which was like skipping to the last chapter in a book after only reading the first three chapters. As I went along, it seemed that I was always having to go and find various back issues of stories that were supposed to be standalone but were directly related to the series. If I am reading a series, why would I go and read a spotlight about a bot that I have no interest in, only to find out that it is an essential part of another story? What a goof-up! Anyway, I don't like stories that are not completely self contained.
If it is to be an ongoing series, it needs to start at an issue numbered one and all related material be sequentially numbered.)I would like to see a new series that does not have a beginning nor an end and is just a collection of unrelated stories that are each in itself self-contained and only somewhat related so that you do not have to have read anything previous to enjoy the comic. (Like the Simpsons Comics)
So give me, two G1 style series. I like the robot style of G1 and the character personalities, I am not in particular a fan of the G1 cartoon though. I never cared for the stories where the bots took on human traits like drinking,love, or having gender, movieverse is degenerate, peeing on people, slutbots, off color jokes. Give me a good story with decent inventions and decent strategy. No "big bads" except when they are non players.
That is what I would like to see and what I don't want to see repeated. What would you all like to see?
