when people or crazed collectors purchased a very expensive transformer over a thousand dollars in a unopened box. what does these fanatics do with it, buy it and put it on the shelves to collect more dust, or actually open it and enjoy playing with it. i mean i wouldn't dare to open a over 4,000 bucks toy. please indulge me.

A figure of that magnitude most likely is going to a serious collector working on their personal TF museum.

Did you have a specific figure or transaction in mind to comment on, or are you just generalizing?

I think some collectors ease there way into such purchases.

When I first got back into TFs a few years ago, I actually had to build up a lot of nerve to pay $60 for 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime. I mentally debated it for a few days. Getting up the nerve to buy it was one of only a handful of things I had ever lost sleep over. All that melted away after I opened the figure and reveled in its awesomeness. Now, 500+ figs later, I hardly bat an eye paying that much for whatever I'm currently looking for. Although I have not spent $1,000 or $4,000 on any single figure, I know some people here that have. I certainly have spent more than that on TFs just this year, but I have a lot figures to show for the money.

No, you just have to value it enough to spend your money on it. You could work at McDonald's for a few months and save up that much. If that is what one chooses to spend his/her money on, so be it. Who are you or I to judge?

It looks like you are trying to generate discussion about spending money on figures. Lots of money. This has already been discussed quite a bit; just peek at any thread about Botcon figures.

It all comes down to personal choice and what you value. In the art world, for instance, spending $10,000.00 on a piece of art is chump change in many circles. Of course, you have to have $ (or credit) in order to spend $. Therefore, logic says that yes, the rich are more likely to buy expensive things than the poor. Once again, it comes back to a matter of value. $4,000 is totally different to a migrant worker than it is to a multi-millionaire. It doesn't mean it is out of a poor person's reach, but the sacrifice made to get it will have varying impacts depending on one's economic status.

Precisely. There are people on this board who have to think twice before buying a scout class, and there are those to whom a MISB OP costs the same as an oil change on their Ferrari. Its all really quite relative.

For me personaly, whether or not I have the space to display a figure factors into my purchase descision quite often. That is why I'm selective about what I buy. It isn't always the money, it's just the fact that I'll have to put the thing somewhere in my increasingly growing collection. That is why I skipped most of Armada, Energon and Cybertron.

Same here. I was very selective with those series, G2 and RiD.

to perfectly describe a real pro-nerd, is someone who buy toys never been opened them, and worship them as days fly by quick in their eyes. like the people in south park would describe them "How do you deal with guys that have absolutely no life?" ;;) :???: :-?

$300 for MP04? Dang, that's too much. Where I live, the import shops here are known to inflate their prices but even MP4 is worth about $150 max.

Altertron your sig is a tad too large
The Height is 306px
The length is alright however..

500 X 300 is the max.

http://www.seibertron.com/forums/viewto ... t=369&sid=

Physical dimensions of sigs are as follows
500pxl X 300pxl
That means EITHER 500pxl wide X 300pxl high OR 300pxl wide X 300pxl high no exceptions.
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

300 bucks is abit steep, but i would never spent over a thousand bucks to purchase one of those in the 80s. i mean paying 4,000-8,000 for a toy to experience nostalgia is over the extreme. people paying that much is utterly insane in membrane.

do i need to resize my image on the sig???

Yes. You're only 6 pixels over so you should be able to just crop off some of the white at the top without affecting the image too much overall. Then just save the resized image back to photobucket or wherever and replace the link in your profile. Also as has been pointed out above and elsewhere the quote underneath should be "whatever the cost" rather than "whatever the cause". Unless you meant for it to read that way you may as well sort that out while you're editing your profile.

If you don't have the know how to resize the image yourself then ask nicely in the sig request thread, which I believe is in the kitbash forum, and somebody should be able to help you out.

And as someone already mentioned in this thread, the quote you have in your sig is wrong.
