Hello to everyone here on Seibertron. I'm really new to the Transformers fandom in general. I've kind of been aware of the series for a long time, at least since Armada aired on TV, but I've never honestly considered myself a fan. I didn't go out of my way to watch it, didn't buy any of the toys, never gave it more than a passing glance. My interest in the rest of the franchise has been moderate at best, though I did watched Animated quite a bit during its run, and went to see the movies.
But lately, I've really been interested in the series as a whole. I get a fair bit of my entertainment from TV Tropes, and on one page, it linked to the Transformers Wiki, which I started reading articles on, primarily for the humor. But I'm a natural sponge when it comes to information, so I pretty much absorbed all of the articles.
Reading articles on a wiki is never the same as watching a show or reading a comic, though, so I really want to get into the series more. As I've mentioned, I've seen most of Animated and I've watched all of the movies. I'm also caught up on Transformers Prime, and I've watched some episodes of Armada, Energon, and Cybertron.
I figured it would be best to start at the beginning, and I'm interested in watching the original cartoon, especially considering there's a boxset for it that's for a pretty good price, even for a teenage girl without too much cash on hand. However, I tend to hear that in retrospect, it's not exactly a great show without any nostalgic memories of it.
Do you think I might still enjoy it? And if not, what should I see instead?
I also have a moderate interest in the comics, but I haven't actually ever bought an American comic. ^^; I'm a manga fan by nature, though I have read (albeit not owned, they were borrowed from friends) some American graphic novels in passing, like Scott Pilgrim. I've never actively kept up with them, though. There aren't any comic shops that are particularly easy for me to get to my area, and I prefer having something that's, you know, a book. Any ideas where I should start with that?
