Good question... I'd hate to go through the series and count but I'm guessing it's going to be a close run between Starscream and Soundwave. Though if I had to choose I'd have to go for Starscream.

I'd wager Starscream but I'm usually wrong about such trivia.

Here's the funny thing.

Starscream betrayed Megatron at every given opportunity, and yet, he was one of the main 'Cons to blast away with Megs in his hand. Kinda silly, isn't it?

Yes, I didn't understand why Starscream didn't just blast Megatron when Megatron was in gun mode.

He can't do that, he has to wait for the moment to be exactly right. At the end of a brilliant scheme, or just as Megatron is about to achieve an astounding victory over the Autobots. What's the point otherwise? It would be a hollow victory. :P

I don't really remember Soundwave wielding Megatron all that often in gun mode. I recall that the Seekers tend to use him alot with Starscream using him the most.

Maybe we should try and compile a list of who holds Megs when? I'll kick off:

Skywarp: Once in MTMTE Part 3, once in Roll For It.

Screamer: Once in Roll For It, once in The Movie, once in SOS Dinobots (although Screamer was in jet mode).

Soundwave: Once in Fire On The Mountain, once in Dinobot Island Part 2.

So, what have I missed?

:???: But I never held Megatron. Ok, there was that one night, but we both agreed it didn't mean anything. We were just... curious.

So far, looks like Screamer gets the dubious honour of using Megatron the most. I'd love to know what the history between them was that lets Screamer get away with so much.

By "most", do you mean frequency or length?

Here is the breakdown by frequency.

Starscream: 6 times (MTMTE I, Transport to Oblivion, Roll For It, SOS Dinobots, Traitor, Desertion of the Dinobots I)

Soundwave: 4 times (Fire on the Mountain, A Change in Gears, Dinobot Island II, Quest for Survival)

Skywarp: 2 times ( MTMTE III, Roll For It)

In addition to the Decepticons, here are the others that carried Megatron in gun mode.

Optimus Prime: 2 times (Countdown to Extinction, The Insecticon Syndrome)

Autobot X/Autobot Spike: 1 time (Autobot Spike)

Megatron either hovering or not being carried: 2 times (Ultimate Doom III, Day of the Machines)

Soundwave had him in Transport to Oblivion as well.

...

I've decided, I'm going to watch the whole series again and do an accurate count.

See you in the spring. :P

You're right, at 6:02-6:07. Don't know how I missed that one; damn. That brings Soundwave's total to 5 times, close to Starscream's total but just shy. Interesting how Megatron is held primarily by both his most loyal and most treacherous Decepticons.

At 17:23 Megatron transforms into gun mode and Starscream uses him to collapse the cave entrance, trapping the Autobots inside.
