Well, Energon Prime has more posability, sound effects, the ability to combine in several different ways, and 100% less kibble.

But doesn't that have more to do with E-Prime being a Leader. He should be better and have more playability than a Voyager. :???:

E-Prime was crap, posability means nothing when the joints are so weak that the toy can't even stand. He had a crap trailer, crap weapons, and crap colors. If it wasn't for the play potential with Wing Saber, he would be complete junk. At least RV Prime has a realistic alt-mode and a good bot mode. Better a huge backpack then a huge belly.

I don't really understand your perspective on this.

Let's put 'fat' bias aside for a moment.

You're really wrong about E Prime's joints. It's possible you got a bad one, but all in all, his joins are both numerous and ratcheting. He can get into all kinds of quality contortions.

His trailer is more solid than Armada Prime's and more useful than Cybertron Prime's as a stand alone. It converts effortlessly into a base for his vehicles.

E Prime's weapon was awesome in it's simplicity. While nothing special, it certainly isn't crap. It has a nifty storage feature where it fits properly into a rear hip holster.

RV Prime has his enormous Kibble and isn't even accurate to his source material. E Prime looks just like he does in the show. Yes, he's "FAT". It's a sacrifice that bulks him up for his combined modes. Yes, it's somewhat sucky to have DinnerMaster Prime. Still, he's a 100% faithful interpretation of Energon Prime with a full range of posability and features.

RV Prime is at best a pretender to the exhaulted throne of Leader Class Movie Prime (who btw, eats E Prime for breakfast).

RV Prime also costs $5 more than he should. :?

Personally, I went with RV Prime, he's an alright figure. I passed on the leader version because I don't really like leader sized figures. I personally don't like the leaders to be the biggest in series that's why I liked the Classics leaders.

Sure the kibble is lame on RV but I rather have something I can transform relatively quickly and with little effort rather than having to lug around a leader.

Not to mention I got RV on the cheap, charged me for a regular voyager.

Postby saintsfan1983 » Tue Jun 05, 2007 10:34 am

I went out Friday night at Midnight went to 3 different wal-marts and then found a wal-mart where they were bringing the pallets out. I saw leader class on the box opened it and then checked out. I love this prime. I saw the RV Prime at Target and passed because I already bought the Leader scaled Op. Maybe if Target puts them on clearance I'll get one. But I say go with the leader. You wont be disappointed.

You are the weapon specialist. You are probably the only Autobot who doesn't give a crud about the humans and repeatedly asks permission to blow something up. You are very strong and big as well as always suggesting the BIGGER sort of weapon. You are also good at sports; mostly contact sports. You can be easily irritated and may have anger issues. You also have a huge truck mode. Sweet.

I bought Leader, mainly because I work at TRU and can get 10% off and not drive all the way down to Target. But I woulda gotten him anyway. I've started to like the flames, plus he's red not orangish and taller.

Now, I'm gonna have to disagree with you for once, Punch. E Prime wasn't crap IMO but it wasn't as good as RV Prime. Did you ever look at the E Prime from the back? The only differnce between to two's kibble is the RV is the front of the truck and the Es is the back. But PorQPine was right. Comparing RV to Energon is like comparing FAB to the Legends. Different scale, price point, paint, everything. Comparing RV to Leader class anything it'll fall flat. Try comparing it to the Classics Prime. Same scale (well within an inch of each other) and roughly same price. Robo Vision Optimus Prime is it's own little piece of ass kickery and looking at the rest of the Movie line, it's pretty firetruckin' amazing!

The only problem with Es possiblity/joints (on mine anyway) is the feet fold up if he tips even a little. Oh, and its general suckery. Of coure the toy looks like the cartoon model! They modeled the cartoon digitally after the toy. It's a computer render of a scanned model.

I'm not so convinced about all that. Even with those pros, for a Leader I found him to be a disappointment.

Counterpunch wrote:I don't really understand your perspective on this.

The feeling is mutual...further elaboration to follow. 8)

Counterpunch wrote:You're really wrong about E Prime's joints. It's possible you got a bad one, but all in all, his joins are both numerous and ratcheting. He can get into all kinds of quality contortions.

It is indeed possible that I have a bad one, my main complaint is that he just feels like a rag doll in combined form. I may get him into a good pose, but the minute that I pick him up, gravity takes over, and he just feels dead. Even for ratcheting joints, I found posing him to be a real hassle. And I'm a pretty patient person, most of the time.

The trailer was a good concept, don't get me wrong, but theres no real transformation to speak of. Tilt 90 degrees, open doors. Sure it makes for great playability(storage, accessability, etc.), but I mainly tinker and display my stuff, I don't play with it. So I got bored with it very fast.

The weapon is simple, sure. I have alot of love for simple projectile weapons. And the storage is noteworthy, again. But it had two things going against it: 1) it was small, even out-of-proportion to his combined form(better a little guy with a big gun, than a big guy with a little gun), 2) it was white, when black would have been just as cheap and would have looked alot better.

I must admit, I am on the bandwagon when it comes to the colors of his drones. Great for little kids, hard on the eyes for me. (And yes, I well understand that these are indeed children's toys for the most part :P ...especially Energon.)

TFMaster did a custom Scourge/Nemesis Prime paint scheme and I loved it.

And, sorry, but the chest cavity just looks like a plastic butthole. Even the colors are..ugh, never mind. Maybe my mind is just in the gutter too much.

But didn't most or all Energon toys look just like they did in the show? This is probably where we differ, show/movie-accuracy is all well and good, but I tend to be toys first, then media.

Yep, RVP has a big backpack. But it doesn't bother me because he has big shins and huge feet to offset it. He also has excellent posability(I've been able to get him into some very stable poses, standing, crouching, firing, you name it), a very realistic alt-mode(the little cowboy that they put in the driver's seat was a stroke of genious), and two weapons that incorporate flawlessly into his vehicle mode, becoming an actual part(s) of the vehicle itself, as well as feeling fairly hefty. Sheer bliss. Completely worth the $20 if you caught the Target sale.

He also has great colors(the traditional red, blue, and grey), even though he is not as nearly as shiny as they make him out to be in the ads/pics. Much better eye candy than eight separate colors flying at me at once.

Counterpunch wrote:RV Prime is at best a pretender to the exhaulted throne of Leader Class Movie Prime (who btw, eats E Prime for breakfast).

I wouldn't go that far, as I see both of them as certainly worth the purchase. Leader Prime is fantastic indeed, but I can't stop messing with RV Prime for the time being.
He costs $5 more than he should. :?
^^This we definitely can agree on. Price gouge, anyone?

It is obvious that we are debating personal tastes more than anything, but if I were forced to sell one of either E-Prime or RVP, I kick E-Prime to the curb in a heartbeat.

Yea, that would seem to be a problem with your particular one. The feet on my Energon Prime are so tight I have to pry them down with my nails.

Well after picking up Robovision Prime yesterday I can honestly say the Lead Class Prime blows it away. Don't get me wrong I still like the smaller Prime, mainly because it gives me a cool Prime to play around with, but the detail and articulation of the Leader Class Prime is far superior to the smaller size Robo Prime.
