How can it be a "useless alt mode" if it doesn't have one?

Exactly. It's useless cause it isn't there.
Galvatron thinks it's Logical and he's a Volcan.Burn wrote:Sherade wrote:How can it be a "useless alt mode" if it doesn't have one?

That ... defies logic.

I actully have some of the Energon toys, they don't simply "fold in half" that's only 1 step in the transformation for some of them. (Maily only Rodimus and Miss Marked Downshift do that.)Insurgent wrote:I've just watched some powerlinking from Energon, and I must say

I thought they would actually transform like the combiner limbs from G1. Not fold themselves in half. I can now see why you would say they are not alt modes. I'm even tempted to say that. They just fold themselves in half. Can that be classed as an alternate mode? I mean, it's just the robot mode folded in half. It...It's madness!
Insurgent wrote:Hmm. Well, if they actually do transform properly, like G1 combiner limbs, then I'll keep with them being an alt mode. You know more about what powerlinking involves than me, so I'll take your word on it.

We need a definate vote on combiner limbs, as Burn raises a good point about the Scramble City limbs.
How about, any mode that doesn't involve combining with any other is classed as an alt mode? This means powerlinking and combiners are not included, but the Masters are.

Not sure about excluding Masters. Power and Heads especially as even though they can transform without combining, they're functions don't exactly kick in until combined.
On the other hand they transform into their alt mode without the assistance of another bot.
Tough call.
Burn wrote:They're kinda half and half aren't they?
On their own as alt modes they're useless. But when combined with a larger robot they serve a necessary function.
Split it. Sometimes useless, sometimes necessary.
