Ok, I was wondering, from the stand point of who is the best, I would be looking for the most faithful representation i could buy and for the best price.

So here are some images. You tell me whose the best rendition of each and which one is the one you'd buy.

I own the Hasbro 2 Pack reissues 10th anniversary Toys R Us exclusive Optimus primal VS Megatron. Is there any difference between the Japanese Box set and the Toys R us Hasbro exclusive???

I also Own the Takara Beats Wars 10th Anniversary reissues 1 through 9. so far..

I didn't realize that Robot Masters was its own cartoon series, direct to DVD format. the video is on TFKenkon.com..so that explains why Megatron Robot Masters has a Decepticon symbol on his arm..And also why Optimus primal has one on his as well..

:-?

I choose.....

Cybertron Optimus Primal and Megatron. Seriously, I got these two guys on clearance, and I like the redone color scheme(Brown and Green, respectively), and the liberties they took with Primal. Ok, I know they ain't on the list, but I really think they are some of the coolest figures I have.

But on the list, uh, the Robotmaster versions? They'd be closer to scale with with other Maxi's and Preds scale wise, and look the most like their show counterparts. But after the Cybertron versions, I honestly think they look a little goofy. Though I don't actually have them though.

The original figure is great though, I'll give it that, it's fun and has a lot of features/weapons. It's out of scale though. Sorry if I wasn't any help, that's the only one on the list I have.

They're not in the show. They're repaints of a two-pack that I'm not sure where it was released, which were 10th Anniversery figures that paid homage to the original figures, at a deluxe scale.

Judging by the pics, I'd say that they are more posable than the Robotmasters versions, though Primal does have a semi-tricky transformation(the legs/arms are kinda spring loaded ), and would have been perfect if he had rotatitng wrists. And Megatron farts missles :P  .

Aww, I was hpoinf by the title you would include TM Optimal Optimus & TM2 Megs. Anyways, I like the BW 10th that were given a Cybertron release as well. Not the Cybertron versions themselves, but the BW color schemes. Those figures are great, & I like the reference to TM Optimus w/the whole hover board thing.

Hmm, personally I prefer the Cybertron version for Primal. Looking at pics side-by side confirmed my opinion for myself even more:

Image

Image

Cybertron Primal has a uniform colored back, and his scheme isn't as disjointed. Plus, I dont' like the red feet/robot hands. I'm not dogging the color scheme itself, I just feel that it really isn't appropriate for the figure. Meg's purple is ok though.

And even though I don't have them, and show accuracy aside, I feel that the Cybertron versions look WAY cooler and sleeker than the Robotmasters versions:

Image

Image

I compare them because they both serve a similar purpose, but this is one area I think Hasbro has the edge over Takara. But RM Beast Convoy does have a lot cooler weapons. And they are show accurate.

I don't mean to hijack the thread or anything, but I absolutely love these Cybertron guys, and think the reimagining is really cool, and deserve credit.

I feel that the Takara Beast Wars Primal vs Megatron set is the best representation of the show characters. Not the 2007 reissues, the ones just before that which Hasbro used the molds for the TRU exclusive.

Some say they are too big, but I disagree. They should be a bit bigger than the other BW figures. After all, Primal was called "Big Bot" by Cheetor.

The Takara version has a CD-rom with pictures and stuff on it. The toys themselves are the same though.

I'd say... go with the Robot Masters Beast Convoy and the Cybertron Megatron. I have both of the Cybertron ones and I don't like the Optimus one very much. The Megatron one kicks ass, though, even with the stress lines on him.

That's what i wanted to know, thanks, I can do without the CD-ROM, I was just worried that the Hasbro Paint applications, or detail were less then the ones in the Takara reissue 2 pack.. the box is cool... though, not worth the 100.00 price on the 2nd market.. so i bought the Hasbro 2 pack directly from Toys R Us website for like a steal 32.00!!!! get them before they're gone!!!

no its a special hobby store repaint, I forget the name though...

I do like optimal optimus, and the Megatron upgrade for Beast Wars Transmetals...

are they worth the purchase price??

So is the general consensus that Beast Wars reissues from Takara are the best representations, or that the 2 pack voyager class Optimus Primal VS Megatron are the real deal??

Takara 2 Pack kicks ass. The hasbro one has its problems. but The takara one costs 60.00 -149.00. But I am going to go with the takara ones due to them being Very show Accurate.

I own the Hasbro Toys-R-Us exclusive and it looks show accurate to me...unless the Takara one has silver legs, but the pic i have above from Seibertron's gallery shows he has white like the one I own from Hasbro.. i wish i had a pic of the Hasbro one next to the Takara one for reference.. Darn it!!! anyone have the Hasbro 2 pack they can lend Ryan for images, mine is staying in the Hasbro box..
Or does anyone have a link that shows a comparison of the difference??

Megatron is missing an 'o' ring which creates a degree of looseness or non-ratcheting motion in his torso. The Takara version does not have this issue, though it does seem to be a minor one.

Nightwatcher fixed his TRU Megatron with an 'o' ring from a vintage Megatron.

You previously asked about Transmetal stuff.

Get Metals Megatron instead of Transmetal (US) Megatron. TM Megatron has GPS. The hinges which swing his arms foward are just faulty and will almost certainly break over time.

Metals Megatron is made much better. Some will complain that he isn't as show accurate and well, they're kind of right.

It really depends though. In some scenes, his 'gold' really is the deep rust color that the Metals toy sports. It totally depends on the scene and lighting.

I'm not surprised. It seems to be hit or miss.

But just be weary that the arm hinges which rotate his arms out have a tencency to be weak and break over time.

Ok, i can't really give this a full honest and fair Thread if i didn't include the rest of the Beast Wars or at least beast transformers. So lets include the rest, and the final score for the best Optimus Primal and Megatron can be concluded after that.

Transmetal 2 Megatron:

Well, personally my vote goes as follows:

The best 3 of each would be:

Optimus primal:
1. Hasbro/Takara 2 pack Optimus Primal VS Megatron
2. Takara Reissue "show accurate" Optimus primal, Robot Masters repaint.
3. Optimal Optimus

Megatron:
1. Hasbro/Takara 2 pack Optimus Primal VS Megatron
2. Takara Reissue "show accurate" Megatron, Robot Masters repaint.
3. TM2 Megatron

thats with just the top 3 that I consider the best..

I have the BWR Takara set and my brother has the Hasbro set. The "o" ring is missing from all the Hasbro sets. That missing "o" ring is annoying, but like Counterpunch said, you can replace it with one from a junked original Megs or T-Rex.

I have the BWR Takara set and my brother has the Hasbro set. The "o" ring is missing from all the Hasbro sets. That missing "o" ring is annoying, but like Counterpunch said, you can replace it with one from a junked original Megs or T-Rex.

isn't there something else i could use besides an O-ring, don't they deteriorate over time?

Dude, it's a plastic ring that has the ratcheting point on it. Nothing more.

Without it, Megatron is floppy, not broken or un-transformable.
