Why are we so against Unicron?

People say that he's been "done to death" in the Unicron Trilogy (as if the title didn't give him reason to be) and say thats a good reason not to have him turn up in the movies.

I don't get this. This is a reboot of the Transformers, Unicron hasn't been seen in the history of this incarnation, ever. We've seen him in other series not this one. People say not to treat this like G1 or the Unicron Trilogy to quell those who are annoyed about the designs and other changes, and yet this is not a good reason to accept it if Unicron comes in? Its a new incarnation, treat it as one!

That said, I didn't much follow Armada, Energon or Cybertron because I didn't like em that much...

I agree. What the heck, why not? Every Transformers series I know of has either had or mentioned Unicron in some way, shape or form, so why should this one be any different?

I mean, what's next? Are we going to leave out Megatron? Any incarnation of Prime? These are staples of the series. I don't see why Unicron wouldn't be considered the same...

i think introducing unicron in the movie series anywhere before the 6th movie would be too soon...and i think thats what a lot of people have against the idea as well

You want to know the down to earth honest truth of why the majority of the fanbase doesn't want to see Unicron revealed in this new incarnation?

There's no awe to him anymore. In nearly every Transformers Cartoon he's been the 'ultimate bad guy'! It's like playing three different versions of the same game with the same story and villain. It gets stale and sooner or later you stop playing.

It's irrelevant of whether this is a new incarnation of Transformers or not. Unicron is Unicron. Giant planet eating robot works as a cartoon but not in the live action genre. Plus, if they did do that they (general audience) that TF copied Fantastic Four (Galacticus) seeing as that movie franchise seems to be heading that way.

Do we really want to be talked down to with Fantastic Four? It's insulting.

Yes, he's been done to death, however my problem is this:

No matter how you slice it, a giant planet that eats other planets is a silly and stupid premise. Granted it worked before, but then we weren't expecting much of TransFormers. Don't get me wrong, I love Unicron and the toys. They're great.

They just don't fit the live action world all that well.

Problem is, when you get into that kind of thing, it means there's an inevitable end, and once it's done, it's done. I mean, where else can you go?

It happened to Lucas with Star Wars. Now, there's really nowhere to go, except with prequel television shows that may or may not interest anyone.

That kind of Good VS. Evil story only has so many facets, and they've been covered more than enough. I'd like to see where these new TFs could go without such a limitation.

generally, Unicron is a method of changing the guard, (Killing off Optimus for Roddy) and unfortuneately, stepping into a bound of weirdness, to almost Mary? Gary Su/Stu territory.

*Cough*Rodimus Prime*Cough*

A being of total power, (see Enertgon Galvatron, GalvaUnicron, etc) with no real limit.

Aside form that, He's a staple of what I think are interesting, if not blatently obviously geared fro kids, that alot of fans don't agree with. What do you think of when you think of Armada? Minicons, and Unicron. Minicons were neat as weapons, but when they got to "superpowers" we got odd. Then we got to Energon. Lots of powering up, and oh, by the way, a giant body just waiting to turn Megatron into a too perfect being. Cybertron saw abalck hole, Uni's grave, and those little keys that allowed short bots to evaporate entire armies. Not to mention the oversizing in the end.

I have no problem with Unicron as a part of a balanced (Being the keyword) lore. But it all comes down to Guilty by Association

Well, let's look at it this way, shall we?
Unicron = Giant evil Transforming planet who eats planets.
Movie Staff = Desire for realism.
Unicron + Movie Staff = No go.

Thank God.

Well, Unicron was okay for just Armada & Energon. Cybertron? No thanks, because he was only mentioned instead of appeared much to hasBlows own idiocy.

Let Unicron appear in the third movie, I have no objections. Just he has to appear once and die once

Not having something like Unicron, or even a combiner team, makes the *normal* transformers more of an awe and spectical sorta thing for the viewer. Viewers can relate to something 30 feet tall, but something.. well.. planet sized.. it's not like we see that sorta stuff first hand, but we see maybe similar objects (massive dump trucks, etc) that are that big.

I didnt find unicron to interstin in even the G1 movie.. i mean at first.. but the end stuff.. muh.. i usually skip that stuff, except for Rodimus Prime of course :D

I dont want uni as a character. If they get to telling orign stories of the tformers and mention primus creating the transformers I could see them mention uni as a "devil to god" connotation. I could even see them going as fay to say that primus made the bot's and uni created the con's kind of deal. Not as a movie focused character though. I think it would be cool if after meg's fate in the first movie is "revealed"(we all know, I'm just not saying it), we have a second movie with screamer in charge and gettin a little help and then at the climax of 2, meg's reappears with a badass earth alt form, kicks bot ass and 2 is left as a cliffhanger with bot all but defeated and then in 3 help comes, big fights, robots die

You guys don't think that a giant planet-eating Transformer rendered on the big screen in fantastic CGI would not awe people?

What has society come to!?

I think for a non-Transformer fandom audience, Unicron would be a great addition to, say, a third or fourth film.

I could go for Unicron possibly for the last film, but other then that, no thank you.

And another thing:

Another reason not to have Unicron would be because it seems redundant for the movie people to go through all the trouble of reinventing the Transformers mythos for the new film frandchise and suddenly turn around and recycle the plot of the '86 film which by hollywood standards was a big flop.

Like everyone else said. He's been done to death. He's the uber villain in every single Transformers medium thus far.

Plus, his weakness is a cosmic flashlight.

Honestly, Prime could just dick around with Unicorn.

The innocent imperial contractors built the death star. And then all of those families lost a loved one when the second one was not complete.

If they ever do Unicron, I bet he'll be in the very last movie. But he would be a sequal killer as few things can top Unicron as an enemy, and I don't think they are interested in ending the franchise unless they do the "end it while its still good" thing.

But think about all the billions more who would have lost loved ones if the Death Star had been allowed to be completed. I don't see how those workers could be innocent if they knew they were constructing something that would be used only to subjugate and terrorize a galaxy.

Anyways, I share the view that Unicron is the kind of character you want to wait until the very last movie to show.
Maybe the movie before could be the big setup for his arrival, maybe call it "The Allspark Quest?"

But I doubt that the sheer scale could ever be done true justice in live-action.

I don't want them to do Unicron for one reason only: franchise trilogies tend to cram waaaayyy too much in the last film.

X-Men 3 was way too busy and cluttered.

Spiderman 3 suffered from horrible editing and was too long.

Pirates 3 was needlessly long and just plain boring with way too many plot elements.

If Unicron shows up in a possible TF3, it would just be way too much to fit in one film. They should keep this franchise relatively simple. Movie 1 introduces the TFs, Movie 2 adds some cool new element (combiners, or very large TFs like that Aircraft carrier Bay wanted) and Movie 3 is the out-right climax, which I would rather be filled with loads of TFs instead of one big planet guy...
