I enjoyed the style of these figures, and it was cheap enough to buy a few packs and have a small collection to display at my old office. I kept them in their packages for tidiness, since they couldn't be transformed. And I felt more comfortable having these in an environment I had no real control over, as opposed to more expensive "real" Transformers.

They were also good conversation pieces, and people kept asking why they didn't look the same as the movie (I only got the G1 characters).

I like chibi! I also like statues.

Um, Hound rather than Prowl surely?

Nope, that head was put on a repainted and slightly modified Gen Prowl, after some significant helmet modification. It is now a red car mode, and represents Overdrive in my collection for now.

I was never really interested in these due to lack of transformation except for the wave with the Tigatron & Inferno Ricochet & Predaking packs , which i saw only once at a random JoeCon booth for 50 a piece.
The only other one that piqued my interest was Dispensor, the random as Hell, Dew Bot

I get that you used Prowl as the base for the conversion, and I'm assuming that you mean Universe rather than Generations, but there wasn't a 2 pack with Prowl and Blitzwing in the Robot Heroes line. Blitzwing was packed with Hound, and having had a quick refresher on Overdrive over at TFU I can see that head working for him, while Prowl would have been packed with Laserbeak had they reached retail, rather than being in the last wave of figures beyond the prototype stage that got cancelled. The 2 pack with Prowl goes for silly money when the occasional one turns up.

Robot Heroes where kind of cool, cute little guys, a way to secure trademarks again, and well they where cool.
And unlike Mighty Muggs they actually had effort put into them and weren't the exact same motion less hunk of plastic with different paint apps and head.

Also, they existed for the same reason all other toys exist, to make money.

Also, I'm sure you mean Marvel comics not DC, never seen any DC Heroes, also I believe RH was the first line like this from Hasbro with the others following suit but I'm not sure on that.

Galactic Heroes came first by quite a long way. There have been similarly styled DC figures starting with a Brave and the Bold line, but obviously not from Hasbro and not under the '----Heroes' title

D'OH!!!!

Yeah, the Robot Hero who was beheaded for this was Hound, not Prowl. Got two Senior Moments on one subject, there...

There exist also two Robot Heroes board games, you can get them normally on amazon.com. One from the G1 Universe and one from Revenge of the Fallen.

I never boubht the first one…not my cup of tea, but having a child…I can see where these may act as a placebo for parents with youngins as sort of a test to see if their child is ready for the more expensive and fragile figures. My daughter loves TFs…I used an extra G1 Magnus cab (w/ no accessories) as my tester…in essence her first TF was a G1 Magnus.
