Oh really? During the Unicron trilogy? You must not have been buying much of anything smaller than a Voyager then! Clocker, Takara-release Armada Hot Shot, Energon Hot Shot, Cybertron Hot Shot, Cybertron Red Alert, Armada Blurr, Armada Sideswipe, Energon Downshift, Cybertron Downshift, Cybertron Crosswise, Energon Strongarm... All of them lacked separate windows and windshields. Before that, during RID? Same deal. After that, during the movie line? Same thing again! It's the norm for the smaller cars and stuff.

OK, so they must have used better paint for those then.
And I've heard about the Battle in Space and Rodimus vs. Cyclonus sets.
1. What does an opaque window have to do with cartoon color accuracy? No, seriously, what?
2. You know, I've heard a lot of people whinging about the plastic in that set, but somehow I haven't heard a lot of people actually reporting breakages.

Have you seen the set?

Take a good look at it, maybe you'll figure it out.

You know why people complain about the plastic? Because we own those figures (well, I sold Galvatron to Boo, so I don't have him anymore, but still), we unpacked them, had them in hand and then decided to no-longer handle them so they wouldn't break.
Tell me, if you owned something that you liked the look of, but every time you touched it you got scared of breaking it, what would you do? We all choose to just display it and not do anything with it, which is why it doesn't break.
How about you buy the set yourself and decide whether or not you would handle him?

I have that Rodimus (along with several others) and a smaller part actually broke off: a tab to push out the rear wheel for transformation. Opaque plastic if I may add. Also, I have read in places that the shoulder joints are kinda weak. No problems on the later releases (United especially)
The resident Rewind... well, half of one :lol:

As a matter of fact, I have seen the set as well. The opaque plastic instead of translucent makes no difference as far as cartoon color accuracy goes, so my question stands, buddy.

And I would test it to see what the real limits are. I'm faiiirly certain it's more durable than you people give it credit for, since guess what? It's still gotta pass the drop-test!
WANT:
* Cyb. Galvatron key, missiles
* Omega Lock
* Primus Cyber Key, coattail panel
* Powerlinx Comettor
* Leader Sentinel Prime sword, shield
* RiD Galvy dragon head, beast arms
* Leader Ironhide windshield, R hood assy.
* Cyb. Wing Saber left chestplate (argh)

You don't get it do you. Mate, look at it, then look at cartoon stills. If you still don't get it, you never will.

Then put your money where your mouth is, buy it and prove us wrong. ;)

There's. Nothing. Too. Get. The. Opacity. Makes. No. Difference. Translucent. Blue. Plastic. With. Red. Paint. Would. Have. Been. Just. As. Accurate. :-x

And as for buying it? Maybe if I see one really cheap the next time I've got money. Classics Roddy's got a lot of design choices that piss me off (like the engine showing in bot mode), and I already have a G1 Hot Rod I've been articubashing. Plus I have higher priorities as far as my next eBay purchases go, chief among them being Megatron's stock butt and second silencer piece.

I'm done with this topic, I've said my piece for it.

Except translucent plastic has a nasty habit of discoloring the paint on it thanks to light shining though. Also taking into account paint colors hardly ever match exactly with plastic colors, using solid plastic for Rodimus' windshield was done to make the figure more uniform in color as a whole, like in animation. Shame the shades are off. :lol:

No opacity has nothing to do with it, but, you know the colour, which you would see, if you where capable of simple cognitive functions.

Fantastic reasoning, start something just because, then get angry and back out once you're beat. :lol:

This just in. Painted windows and brighter colors make a toy look more cartoony. Film at 11.
