and if the constucicons are going to be in the next movie is Bonecrusher going to be left out and is Devastator going to be re-named?

It was an error which even Bay acknowledged.

It hasn't been confirmed that the Constructicons/Devestator will be in the sequel, in fact, NOTHING has been confirmed about the sequel other than it's been green lit.

I thought Devastator was a more fitting name for a big honkin' tank than Brawl.

Except for all his strength, he didn't really do much devestating.

It looked more like an all in brawl, Autobots and humans -vs- one Decepticon.

yee..i kinda hope none of them die really. i like all their characters, they just need to build on them. we know starscream will be back so thats another guy.

Wasn't the name Devastator given to him in preproduction to prevent a leak as to what Transformers would be in the movie?

Yep. It was one of the place-holder names used for the Decepticons.

Given his alt mode, appearance, and personality, he is a dead-ringer for the G1 Combaticon, Brawl. Hence why Brawl is the better name for him.

If they care enough maybe they'll redub it for the DVD. Kind of like how they took Optimus turning to dust out of the video edition of Transformers the Movie.

From what Robert Orci and Alex Katzman hinted at in the Q&A over at the official movie message boards, they probably will.

That would be great. While they're at it, they should add some subtitles for the other half of the scenes that the decepticons were in where they were making random noises, but didn't have any subs. That's instant slots for character development right there.

Emotionally, I hope that none of them die as well. Realistically, I'm just hoping that if they die, they die for a reason. A reason not being 'we want to put this new model out on the shelves, get rid of one of these over used bots and get us some advertising!'

I'm asking for good storytelling...

I just consider it a purposeful mistake, an in-joke that goes along with the many other in-jokes in the film.

I'm still waiting for someone to SHOW me where he said it was an error, I can't find a darn thing in support of that other than "he said so". I've seen more proof in heated religious debates.

Were you at BotCon? At the Hasbro panel that Sunbday they specifically stated as much. There are articles on it here on this site as well as over at TFormers.com. yup. its a mistake, and a glaring one at that considering hasbros floggin the toy as brawl , hopefully it'll be sorted out for the DVD.

as to the constructicons who says anyones dead! this is TF if the comic taught us anything is unless you vaporise em transformers aint dead. hell sometimes not even then (prime in g2 ) so this looks like a cue for bonecrusher to be rebuilt as a bulldozer by his teamates and viola. the real devastator makes his debut

maybe that is why they originally were calling him devastator, and then changed his name. just like how blackout was vortex.

It seems to me that since no-one in the movie says his name out loud, they could easily change his name to brawl for the dvd. That way if the constructicons are in one of the sequals they can still form Devastator.

yes, that would work, and most likely will as it was a mistake so they can easily go change the subtitles most likely.
