Does anybody here realize that the TFs arent exactly a secret anymore? The final battle took place in a populated city. People saw all the TFs fighting. All the drivers on the highway saw Optimus and Bonecrusher transforming and fighting.

Fact: The Robots in diguise arent much of a secret, since there were plenty of eyewitnesses.

It's cool, I wasn't necessarily saying that to you. I was just saying it in general to whoever. If they are going to have them in for just a brief cameo or have them be dinosaurs but then become the Protectobots or military vehicles, what's the point?

Either have them in the movie as a character like any other Autobot or don't bother putting them in at all. I don't understand why people don't want to have the Dinobots a part of their movie because it is unrealistic, when you think about the entire premise of Transformers isn't very realistic either.

It's even worse when you have a guy making a video and bitching about how a few transforming Dinosaur robots ruined a cartoon series for him, when that same cartoon had a lot more problems like quality control, full sized robots that could shrink down to the size of guns and tape decks, and a whole lot of other unrealistic things. It's a cartoon, and what's more, it's fiction, it's fun, stop overanalyzing it.

I don't care if the Dinobots are in TF2 or not. It appears right now that it is a very likely possibility but things could change between now and then. Look what happened to Arcee. I just don't think it's fair to say that if the Dinobots make an apperance, it throws all the realism out the window.

Ok...a few points here:

First off people are saying that giant alien robots are perfectly reasonable, but giant alien robots that turn into giant lizards is a step too far, even though they had a giant scorpion in the first movie.

Transformers were never meant to be disguising themselves from people, they were meant to be disguising themselves from each other. They were fighting a war where espionage & stealth was their main weapon, & we just happened to get caught in the middle. I mean they could transform before they ever met people...surely they didn't just come up with the ability to transform cause they thought turning into inferior alien transports would be cool....

Disguise has more attributes than just stealth. Intimidation, for example.

The Dinobots personality-wise have always been depicted as either being incredibly arrogant or stupid, depending on the source. Why would they disguise themselves as something that would be reasonable by our standards? Maybe they'd pick Dinosaurs because they know it would cause fear in everybody, people & decepticons alike (they wouldn't know what the alien monsters are). Maybe they do it because they have no clue what they're doing, & that would be funny. But whatever the case, if they decide to put them in, they will make it work.

The problem with the Dinobots is that they kinda don't go with the feel of the movie...You have a movie with car chases, air to air combat, military vehicles...It is a movie that has a fast feel to it and I just think that the Dinobots will hold it back...It won't feel right with the theme of the movie

With Scornopok is different cause he's a small decepticon and an attachment of Blackout...He served his purpose in the movie and that was following the soldiers and killing them... Don't know if the Dinobots can have just one purpose.

P.S. I like the autobots being vehicles...I guess you could add a plane or helicopter, or some kind of other military vehicle.

The Dinobots were originally built as a powerhouse group that could take on the Decepticons. They were also viewed as a very tough, heavily armored, and resilient group that could go and accomplish things that the other Autobots couldn't.

The Dinobots as a whole actually compliment the tanks, jet, and cars of the Decepticons. I imagine that Slag and Snarl could hold their own against a tank in their Triceritops or Stegosaurus form. Swoop in his Pteranodon form could take on a jet. Anyone remember the T-Rex chase scene in Jurassic Park? He wasn't exactly a slow moving creature.

I have no idea if the writers and producers are looking at putting the entire team of Dinobots in the movie or just 2 or 3. It's possible that only one of them makes it into the movie. I just know that there has been a lot of talk from the TF2 camp that they were interested in putting the Dinobots in the movie. In the end they may decide not to include any of them, but I can easily see the Dinobots fitting into the next movie if they do go that route.

I could just imagine something like a 2-sentence convo in combat like...

OP: Grimlock, dinosaurs aren't exactly low-key!
Big G: Like it matter-- we already smash half of city!

Like I said, if they put them in, they will make it work.

One thing that keeps popping into my mind is a scenario similar to the house scene in the first movie, where all the Autobots are trying to keep Grimlock quiet.

Prime, "Grimlock, will you be quiet!! You're going to blow our cover!!"
Grimlock: "So what? Cover for weaklings. Me Grimlock smash & grab!"

Then some kid walks down the street, he & grimlock see each other, & grimlock bends down to talk to the kid.

Grimlock: "Hello little earth creature."

Kid screams in terror. Grimlock screams in terror. Kid runs off....grimlock the other way....right into some power lines.

Grimlock: "Mmmm....tingly."

Ratchet: "Yeah, we've already covered that."

Ironhide to Prime: "Can I please take him out now? One shot...back of the head. He wouldn't feel a thing."

Calvin and Hobbes rock! (Check out the Female Transformers Thread, Gojira Prime!)

megrimlock wrote:Why couldn't Dinobots work in the next movie? Didn't we just have a Decepticon that looked like a giant Scorpion attacking marines in the desert in the 2007 movie?

Scorponok works in the realm of the movie because he is hiding under the sand away from human eyes. He isn't exactly trying to "blend in" with people and their surroundings. His scorpion mode also probably allows him to move through sand much easier than a robot or vehicle mode. His disguise is versatile and stealthy.

Eeeeew, typical Hollywood. I know I am willingly watching a Micheal Bay movie, but that doesn't mean I want a completely typical movie full of Hollywood cliches.

Speaking of typical Hollywood....

I would not be surprised if some lame Hollywood cliche would be used to cover up this "fact". I don't claim to have any good ideas of what they would say, but I base this assumption on the scenes at the end credits:

Reporter: Can you shed any light on the recent so called "Alien Activity"?
Sam's Mom: Ahh...*Pauses*. You know what? I think that um... If there was some sort of an alien... infestation.. the-
Sam's Dad: The government would be the first to let us know.
Sam's Mom: The government would let us know.
Sam's Dad: This is America.
Sam's Mom: Yeah. You know that's how we know we live in a free land because there's no secrets. They'd say 'Hey! Duck and cover!'

While this may not be concrete evidence that there will be "alien cover-up stories" in the next movie I would suggest by this dialog that it could be a strong possibility. Look at it this way, all the people saw were giant robots fighting, that doesn't necessarily mean aliens. Maybe they are just mechs with people fighting in them. (Like anime gundams? Hey, I am just throwing out ideas here.) And, from what I can see from the end scene when Megatron dies I can't see any other visable bystanders other than the soldiers, Sam and Mikela watching the interaction between the autobots and soldiers, and those aren't going to be talking.

(What? A Government conspiracy story? No wai?!?!)

Nemesis Cyberplex wrote:Transformers were never meant to be disguising themselves from people, they were meant to be disguising themselves from each other.

Actually, isn't it both of those reasons? They may use those disguises to hide from each other, but they also need convincing disguises to fit it and hide amongst people. And I am also fairly sure that they don't want to be seen by people either because that would cause a panic amongst the populace.

That just needed repeating. I don't care for them in the movie, but that die make me laugh.

I agree that the Dinobots are a big part of the fandom, but I just don't see how it would work. Especially with the person who pointed out that they don't fit with the overall feel of the movie, I find that to be a very good point. We have a movie with car chases, crazy fight scenes, planes in the sky shooting, bombs everywhere.... and then it turns into some monster movie wanna-be? If I want to see a metallic dinosaur fight I will pop in Mechagodzilla.

I'm not a fan of the whole portrayal of the "brawn over brain" type characters anyways. And then they were just created as some sort of "sophisticated" (loose term) weapons? I personally thought that defeated the whole point of the Transformers anyways. They are suppose to be sentient alien beings... and then the dinobots are created as just glorified weapons of mass destruction with no brains? Why? Why did Wheeljack think that it was a good idea giving such creatures little to no intelligence?!?!?

The more I think about the dinobots the more I am convinced that they could not fit in the current timeline of Bay's movie. I'm sure that the dinobots could somehow be fit into a script if someone really wanted it done. I'm just not convinced that it would be a good story. Maybe if they were a bit part, but I don't see them as integral to the story.

Blah, no more thinking. I'm starting to produce Grimlock-type sentences. Bring on some good story scenarios for the dinobots and maybe you can change my mind, but for now, I am just not getting it.

On the theory "They arrived when dinosaurs were still alive"

That was over 65 million years ago. I don't know how long the TFs in general existed and how long an individual can live, but it's 61 million years before the Allspark and Megatron crashed on earth. So what were they doing here this early?

Plus all the dinosaurs didn't live at the same time.

But they don't have to be called Dinobots, they don't have to turn into Dinosours, as long as they stay similar to what they were.

Looking for a new source of energon maybe?

I once had this idea that perhaps the Dinobots came to Earth looking for the All Spark, and that Megatron showed and they battled.... but then I remembered that our gravity messed with his navigation thing (what ever) and he crashed on our planet.

Or that story could always be changed. Say, the dinobots fought Megatron, thought they defeated him, left him for dead in the icy south pole, then couldn't find the All Spark and left him there?

You know, I got nothing. I'm still not for the Dinobots being in the movie anyways, so I don't know what I am talking about.
