The '86 movie seems to be out of stock everywhere. It seems like Sony isn't making any more copies?
Is it possible that Shout! will be releasing the movie again?
Does anyone know about this?

No idea if there's a rerelease in the works, but there's a few 20th Anniversary editions on eBay. You might want to check any used video stores or Half-Priced Books in your area, too.

BestBuy.com currently has it in stock for $19.99.

As far as Shout releasing the film, here's a brief comment, from tvshowsondvd.com:

When asked about the 1986 [Transformers] animated feature film, Shout! DVD producer Brian Ward responds: "No plans for the movie, right now. Sony Wonder did a pretty decent job only two years ago, so I'm not sure we could top it just yet. And it would be asking a lot to get folks to dip a third time."

In another article on that site, they also mention the G.I. Joe animated film. Ward says "We aren't allowed to release the movie. Yet. However, there will be a nice spot within the set's packaging just waiting for it."

Best Buy in Canada does not have the movie listed anymore. And if you actually try to order in from BestBuy.com, its out of stock.
But I did find a copy at HMV that they are transferring for me from another store. There was only a few copies left at any HMV stores in Canada.

I just find it strange that Sony has discontinued the movie already. It's only been out for a few years. This would be the perfect time for them to sell more copies, with the new movie, and the 25th anniversary.

That might be because the branch of Sony who made it went out of business shortly after they made it.

Ok, then It's strange that another section of Sony, or someone else hasn't picked it up yet. There's a lot of people who want to spend money on Transformers stuff right now.

I thought a copy was included in the Matrix of Leadership G1 set. Maybe not...

I've seen a few copies at used DVD stores. I remember buying mine the day it came out in November 2006.

Shout! has no plans to release the G1 movie due to Sony doing such a good job their release, and because Sony's release wasn't that long ago.

Is Shout! Factory going to release the 1986 movie of Transformers: The Movie on DVD? Thank you.

I'm guessing Transformers: The Movie (and its soundtrack?) could be re-released in 2011, which will be that movie's 25th anniversary.

So why didn't you mention that in your first post? I think the OP would have found it useful.

Cuz Gandalf already mentioned it being at BestBuy.com. Besides, it's not like every FYE would have still it. Not every one of the same store has the same quantity of old products remaining on their shelves.

The only places you seem to be able to get the movie now are stores that still have the DVD in stock.
Nobody is able to order new copies.
I am pretty sure that Sony is no longer producing new copies.

I would assume that someone will be re-releasing it again. Maybe I 25th anniversary package? I'm sure it will be available on Blu-ray eventually.

Email Shout! Factory to ask them if they will be releasing Transformers: The Movie 1986 on DVD.

ah, i want this too. i was thinking about picking it up last week, but i couldnt find it in any stores
