harry potter isn't going to hurt transformers one bit. i would do a double feature, go see potter then transformers . They are also getting into the darker harry potters so more people will probubly take thier kids to see transformers.. even with harry potter.. Another thing with potter is that it might take some sells away opening weekend, but the next week, transformers will be back on top of it.. difference in runtime and the fact you don't have to of watched the last 4 to understand it will help tranformers.


Transformers have gotten more tv spots then spider man and it has been 21 years since a transformer movie hit the screen. it is new and different and kicks ass...

Harry Potter WILL drain audience from Transformers on its second weekend, but I don't think that's going to be a big enough point to keep it from making a sequel. And I think it would take a LOT to make Transformers miss $100 mil from the showing on the 2nd thru the end of the weekend. If it makes $300 million, doubling its budget, a sequel will happen. It shouldn't have any problem breaking that worldwide, especially since the studio is seeing money off the toy sales, too.

TF will beat SP3. you should of heard the ppl in the theater that i went yesterday to see fantastic 4. when the trailer for TF came on ppl were like "DAM!!!!!" then came DH4 and i was like "DAM!!! A JET ON A FREEWAY HEADING TOWARDS BRUCE!!!!JUMP OFF!!! YOUR GONNA DIE!!!"

you shouid of seen the reaction of the people that watched the movie on thursday with me....it was like.. holy ****..

harry potter has a fan base of what 10 years.. i am a fan of potter..

transformers has had a fan basefor 24 years and lots of fans from the 80's have kids who are also fans..

harry potter will take some of transformers numbers it's opening week, but transformers is going to have 4 extra days to make up for what harry potter might take. while i like potter, it is not like lord of the rings where two months later, i stil could sit through the whole thing and watch it and not get bored.. transformers is that way, that is what will make it last..

while i liked cybertron,( the original version with english subtitles before it came over here and got butchered and had some horrible voices) i hated armada, energon and rid, though rid was kinda funny.. and of course the all hateful beast machines. - fox kids wanting wars taken out and go with morphing power rangers and totaly scrapping the 3 seasons of beast wars that helped bring back transformers that was brilliantly written (even if the cgi wasn't always on target) was totaly stupid when they had other shows with guns and such shooting things.. but the people that never saw beast wars and started on armda or energon will like this too.. which is the young crowd they are going for.. the others that are beast wars and before, way out number them and as i said , alot have kids and those kids will take thier friends to see it...just wait.. watch what transformers does.


Spiderman will have his web cut by megatrons blades .. and don't count out how many world wide fans transformers has...

I thought that myself. But after actually seeing the movie I believe TF will be able to not only attract fans, but non-fans AND have them go back to see it again.

Harry Potter however will have it's fan base, it won't attract non-fans (they'll just go "meh, another Potter movie, nothing new there"). It'll cut into Transformers for sure, but I really do believe that TF will be able to hold it's own against HP because it will appeal to fans and non-fans alike.

Why do I see the critics here in Australia hating it. Im worried about one critic in particular Leigh Pattsch (Hearld Sun) he pretty much hates anything that aint a arthouse flick. Now Burn after seeing the movie what rating do you think the OFLC give it? Just remember they can be touchy at times.

As far as critics, i've learnt in my 30 odd years of life that the only thing critics are good for is giving the finger too.

I don't think i've EVER agreed with a tv or movie critic. They're clearly impossible to please and i'll be buggered if I know how those people even enjoy life.

And I think a lot of people think the same way as I do. Critics aren't worth listening to, most people will see a movie based on trailers and opinions of their friends and family.

Movie critic dweebs aside, I think we actually stand a good chance. My little brother told me that Spiderman 3 was nowhere near as good as the previous ones. And given the fact that Transformers has a fanbase big enough to resurrect it AFTER TWENTY DAMN YEARS... Ladies and gentlemen, the future looks very bright indeed!

Burnie my boy, PG would be ok but we know why it would get that : There's Aussies in it.But I reckon it may be M. Ive noticed they go easier on Australians in movies or Aussie movies (taxpayer money wasters) when it comes to ratings. If there was a similar film that was not Aussie they rate higher and harsher. Just a theory.

M for Moderate Action Violence. But I think the distributors may appeal the rating.

I blame Megatron and what he did to a human for the "moderate violence" tag.

I think Spider-Man will do better than Transformers simply because it's got a broader fan base.

I'd have to go with Transformers as primarily, it is not a sequel, and more importantly, Spiderman 3 is horrible. How many conflicts can you pack into 2 hours and still be able to fully develop them.

Absolute snoozer, I came pretty close to walking out a couple of times, and I've only done that twice before, ever.

Apparently many people think TF is childish... that is the case of the cartoons.

However I have heard many things from my friends about the new TF movie and how they think it is awesome!

I think TF will do very well if people give it a chance as it's first Live Action movie!

Spider-man 3 as some of you say, was not as good as 1 and 2, most movies have been like this. Spider-man 3 to me was more of a love story... and basically a wreckage to the real story line.

NO! Harry Potter will crush it the following week.
