Call us your hat, America, but you'll never have Prime dollars!

But Starscream most definitely isn't!
Neither is Brawl, Bone Crusher, nor Megatron for that matter

So the fact that GM provided $3 million or so in cars for the movie means nothing?
Yes, there were non-GM vehicles, however GM were major supporters of the movie.

I'm really glad that Barricade was in there. I understand GM sponsored lots, but it just seems fake somehow with all these GMC vehicles, especially when they do those stupid shots of the GMC logo on the grill once too many times.
I don't think it would take too much away from GM for Porsche to have made an appearance. After all, it's not everyone who can buy one, so it wouldn't matter.
As for the Peterbilt truck, I noticed in my DK book Transformers Movie Guide that they deliberately skip mentioning the make of the truck under Prime's bio.

I just think the movie was a bit of a sell out. Most of the bots were GM vehicles, there was a transforming xbox 360 and vending machine, ebay was mentioned in every other line and there was a join the US army campaign.
And now with the DVD, to get the complete package, you have to go to Walmart or Target.

Barricade was the Saleen Mustank so that GM could prove that they were the good guys and Ford were the baddies.

michael bay is in good relations with GM.... bay did a lot of their car commercials, so i wasnt surpsrised if they offered him or if he offered them to use their cars at a cheaper price. regardless, i thought all the cars were pretty cool.

There are ZERO issues with there being a lot of GM cars. Stop whinning.
Wahh wahh I can't stand to see the GM logo, wahh wahh.
I assume if every car company stepped up and offered multiple vehicles to use for the movie/sponsored, etc, you wouldn't mind. Oh but no no, since GM won the bid, it's a big problem.
If there was a transforming PS3, would you still be crying? Or would it be ok then?

Just seems unrealistic, in the island every car was either Cadillac, dodge or chrysler it stood out immediately. It seems highly unlikely that every car chosen would be from the same company, be it GM or other

District 9, what Transformers could have been ...

Actually, having actual brand name cars and products as a whole makes for a much more realistic setting. We don't live in a generic world, and we don't drive generic cars. We live in a world where everything is a brand name, and all of our vehicles have a brand name attached. Thus, it makes much more sense to use brand name products and clearly identifiable cars and vehicles. Even the original G1 characters were identifiable, brand name vehicles.

There are ZERO issues... for YOU. Kindly don't extrapolate your own sentiments to include that of other people. The fact this post came up means that some people at least feel differently about it.
It's not even an issue for many of us for GM to be in there. It's the way it was done that made the movie look a bit too commercial-like, and hence a bit of a joke of the movie at times.
And speaking for myself, if I had any issues with GM, I wouldn't own any of its shares. I like GM, I don't like how obvious the advertising was in the movie.

I get what you're saying, Tramp. What I, and I think a few other people here (not that I'm one for extrapolation of my own sentiments) is that when ALL the vehicles are GM, it detracts from that real world feel. G1 characters were identifiable, brand name vehicles, but they weren't ALL from one brand were they? That's what I liked about Transformers, basically any vehicle make, model or type was fair game.

Well, that isn't the fault of the movie makers. It's the fault of the car manufacturers not getting on board. Bay did shop around to just about all of them. Secondly, There were other types of cars, it was just the Autobots and the few government vehicles we see which were all GM. The "extras" were a variety of makes and models.Bonecrusher27 wrote:Tramp wrote:Actually, having actual brand name cars and products as a whole makes for a much more realistic setting. The deal is only to have ALL Autobots transform into GM cars.
Prime is an exception, because GM don't have anything that suits Prime. And besides, Peterbuilt is not a competition of GM. They don't do cars and SUVs. Not even a microscopic threat to GM.
As for the Decepticons, it's a free for all. Any brand, any type of machine is up as candidate.

Except that it looked weird that the S7 vehicles were black GMCs. Looked too similar to Ironhide.
If the Autobots are not tied to GM cars, Jazz would surely get a better bigger car than the Solstice.
Solstice was given to Jazz because there was practically no other car availabe in GM line up that can be suitable for Jazz.
