Ya know what? I'm done!

There is more to Transformers than movies, cartoons, comics and toys. Discuss anything else Transformers here.

You guys are getting into a whole lot of issues here.

Men like to look at hot women. Megan Fox fits that part for the movie. She did her job as the love interest for the lead character. It didn't seem to me that they went out of threir way to "sex up" her character in the movie. I mean, how much can you really "sex up" a high school character?

If anyone can complain about being cast simply as a sex-symbol I think the guys have a better argument than the women. Did Tyreese Gibson get his part due to his superior acting ability?

Just playing devil's advocate.

I'm with ya here, Mikela was a solid character. She was not just eye candy in the first movie.

Driving that tow-truck backwards into the combat zone should be enough proof of that. The preview clips at BotCon show her being fiercely loyal to Sam and brave in the face of death in RotF.

Her 'hotness' as it is, I believe to be genuinely secondary to her actual character portrayal in the film. That's not to say there won't be long angle shots of her ass etc...but oh well. I'll live.

Women, if I may speak for my gender, ALSO like to look at hot *men*. We get much less opportunity to do so, which is why people like Orlando Bloom have a following: it's not because he's hot (he looks kind of ferrety to me), but because he lets himself be looked at. Guys do not want to be looked at. The ones that the mass media does produce for female ocular consumption are really not 'hot'. They're 'pretty', but that's different from 'hot.' (Johnny Depp is pretty--prettier'n I'll ever be! But he doesn't exactly radiate testosterone). Tyrese and Josh are both attractive guys, which I suppose is your point, but, umm, can you at least admit that they are significantly more CLOTHED than Megan Fox? When I see Tyrese in skin tight boxers, I'll concede this point. Until then, either dress Megan Fox in BDUs or admit I might be onto something. Why should you MEN be the only ones getting to drool at bare skin?

(And don't get me started on Shia. Maybe some woman somewhere thinks he's lustbait. That woman is also probably also highly delusional about other things).

How much can you 'sex up' a high school character? Are you kidding me? I mean, seriously, you ARE joking, aren't you? I teach 18 year olds and half of them look like they took their fashion tips from streetwalkers. Cleavage down to *there*, full on coinslot, miniskirts so short I want to put a paper towel on the chair to protect their lady parts from germs.... And their conversations? Let's just say it's ALL about sex. I won't go into details to try to avoid offending the mods and the young and innocent. But let's just say...whoa. My ears burn.

Yes they did have on more clothes. However, can the guy get some sleeves? How many US soldiers do their jobs in tank tops and wife-beaters?

In that movie, they didn't dress Fox's character in anything different than high school girls wear to school on a daily basis (I teach at a middle school and coach at a high school). My point was she was not shown in her underwear, bathing suit, or in any stage of undress. Her character as a grown up would include at least 2 out of 3 of those.

Women and men find different things attractive. My sisters love Johnny Depp. I think he looks ridiculous. If I saw him hitting my my sisters at a bar 1. they wouldn't talk to that rat looking dude 2. they would ask me to "shoo him away". But becuase he plays sensitive characters and they make him look "man-pretty" women dig him. Tyreese Gibson went sleevless becuase he has huge arms. Women like that too. I want to see boobs and backside. Megan Fox has both. She really doesn't need to wear revealing clothes, quite frankly, because she is just a gorgeous woman.

For the next movie, they could ramp up her scenes to include much more skin simply because she isn't portraying a high school character. That was really my point.

Transformers is a merchandise-driven franchise, much like the new Dungeon and Dragons (it was during 3rd edition, but it was less of a problem) and as such the fanbase of those franchise will always be treated like crap.

Hasbro want our money. Like every corporation. End of the line. Thats why im not a collector.

I could rant about Megan Fox beign useless to the movie, but I don't feel like it.

The thing that is burning at my brain the most is...has any of this been of any help to Sky Glory?
She hasn't given input in a couple of days and I'm kinda curious to hear some thoughts about our ramblings.
I would hate to think we took a turn and left our bus-driver behind. #-o

Oh we left the bus driver behind, but we must have left you behind as well because she's said a few times she's having trouble with her net connection at home.

The next bus should be along shortly for you. :P

Considering that she had actually given a specific day and it is past that day (HA!, I was too paying attention :P )
that is the reason I brought it up. It is also an innocent and yet tactful way to see if someone had been in contact by other means. You ladies are known to do that whilst we menfolk tend to just grunt louder when typing doesn't work.
On a clear day I can hear the grunt of a frustrated Northwestern Seibertronian from 20 miles away. 8-}

As for my transportation...Dennis Leary said it best: "I'm on the short bus to Hell...and you're all coming with me!"

Sky Glory of Iacon wrote:I'm putting my toys away and I am no longer gonna care about TFs anymore! This is a horrably mismanaged franchise and badly treated fanbase. Let's face it! We're being abused financally and we just take it!
First when they killed off the first line of bots in 1987, second with the Bay-formers romp in the magical world of explosions and third with Transformers animated getting canceled this...this throwing away a perfectly good series! I was going to see the sequal but then again I hate sitting in a movie where I'm shown sex objects, no plot and no real repect for the viewing audience's intellegence. I'm done you want me to care again then show you care.

This seems like a bit of an over reaction even though I do agree with a few of your reasons I don't think that's really enough to throw your toys away and say never agian.

The first part about being abused financally is faulse. No one is forceing you to buy every single TF product on the market. You can buy what you do like and ignore everything else. The only way they could really be abusive about it is if they were forceing you to buy all their crappy products but no one is pointing a gun to your head telling you that you have to spend money on TFs.

Now I'm suprised no one pointed this out sooner but the first line of TFs were not killed off in 1987. The original movie that killed off over half of the original cast came out in theaters August 8, 1986. Yes I know the exact day the DVD has the original trailers on it. I allso like to point out that was the first movie I ever saw in theaters and I was only 5 months old at the time. (my birthday is March 6, 1986)

Bay's movie, totally agree about the first one except that there was actully a plot. A bad plot that had little to do with the Transformers and alot to do with the humans reactions to them but it's still a plot. Now part of that had to do with budget issues which they have a much larger budget for the sequill so I hope that the sequill will focus more on the title characters and less on the humans.

When I came out of the first movie I didn't even care about Jazz's death because I didn't know anything about his character in the movie. G1 or Animated Jazz I would actully care if I saw them get riped in half but Movie Jazz it was like, "oh well". I cared more about the human cast. They spent more time setting up a character for Lennox than they did for Jazz so while I was not giveing a damn about weather or not Jazz lived or died I spent the majority of the movie wandering if one of the Decepticons was going to leave that baby girl without a father and there was a huge sigh of relief at the end when he went home to his wife and daughter. I don't want to go into another so called Transformers movie and walk out careing more about the humans than about the title characters.

To put it simply, Jazz's death was like a red shirt on Star Trek, no one cares about them. It's like the difference between some you love dieing and someone who you've never even met before that you heard about on the news. Yeah it's tragic but it's not going to cause you any real grief haveing not known the person who died.

Make the Transformers main characters in their own freaking movie, don't call it Transformers then shouve a bunch of generic characters no one cares about in the backround so that you can focus the movie on the human cast. It was bad enough when Optimus Prime was the only recognizable character in the whole freaking movie while everyone elce became ugly then to actully see the movie to find out they spent no time to develop their characters and basically made the stars of the movie into extras.

Another great example of how they focused more on the humans than on the Transformers. Barricade sends Frenzy to attack Sam and Mikala. Bumblebee and Barricade have their big fight scene OFF CAMERA while the entire scene focuses on Sam and Mikala trying to run from Frenzy. What they should of done was cut back and forth between the two fights so that we actully get to see Bumblebee and Barricade fight rather than just dissapear and have Bumblebee reapear later makeing the audience go, "oh I guess he won."

As far as I was concerned that first movie started when the asteroids fell from the sky sence everything before that was WAY too human focused. It's like Jurrasic Park but less boring.

Jurrasic Park being movies that I've never managed to stay awake long enough to actully see any of the dinosaurs. I'm not even exagerating every time I watch any of thoughs movies I fall asleep durring all the talking scenes at the begining of the films that just take way too damn long. I managed to watch the first movie by starting it from when they arrive at Jurrasic Park but normally I would of fallen asleep trying to watch anything that happens before that.

Here's what I remember of the opening scenes of Jurrasic Park. A guy talking to some kid about raptors while holding one of their claw bones. Talking in a verry low voice that was hard to even hear a damn word he was saying, scareing the kid then a bunch more talking between other scientists and then sleep. I've never seen a movie before where all the important plot points are covered in the open scenes of the movie and then it's nothing but action for the rest of the movie. Normally they blend the two so the movie actully has a story from start to finish with action happening inbetween the plot lines. And really how much time does Jurrasic Park need for plot anyway? You know what the movie is about before you even go to watch it.
