IDWs 30th Anniversary Comics book. It seems pretty nice, but a bit too much reprinting of old comics I already have compared to what I was expecting (a relatively in-depth look at the creation of the comics over the years). But I'll admit only skimming through it so far. Might be more meaty than I'm currently giving it credit for.
MP Prowl. Yeah, I got this ages ago, but didn't open it, passed it on to the folks to keep for X-Mas. Bloody fantastic. Got one of the 3rd party missile sets in my TFSource stack, just waiting to complete him with those and the stickers, but even the raw T/T version out of the box is great. He's got funny leg/feets. That's a wee bit of a confusing part of the transformation, from me who has probably transformed G1 Prowl more times than a sane person should. Now all I need is a scaled desk for him to flip.
speaking of TFSource...
Shipped my stack at the start of the month. Got it on Monday (thanks UK customs people) and in there was Maketoys Chaos/Paladin, Unique Toys Sharkies, Dr Wu purple Skybreaker, TFCC SS Circuit and Generations Sandstorm.
Circuit is just as crazy as I'd seen from the pics. I love him, and the base mold. I have the original Lockdown version on order and already own the Axor retool (that Circuit is based on) and this is truly one of the TFs that keep on giving. No matter what Skittles colours you pour over him in a fit of Adventure Time inspired madness, he still tastes like steak sauce. Yeah Brotha!
Sandstorm is heavily disappointing. Not because he's not good. He's great! He's disappointing because this is an example of Hasbro doing everything right with a repaint/retool and it's so rare, a good vet would be able to get it walking about again. I love Gen Springer, despite his somewhat obvious structural flaws. Sandy has a little bit of this, but it's far less obvious and OMG! this is not your daddy's repaint. There are so few parts on this that aren't at least a little retooled, it's like a whole new figure. Don't get me wrong, there are some characters that I will be sad if their repaints are retooled at all (the Seeker trio, the Datsun Bros, etc) because the Geewunner in me feels they should be the same toys just in different flavours of paint. I'd never before have thought that Springer and Sandstorm could share a base design, because they were so very different looking in their original incarnations. But dammit, the designers pulled it off with aplomb. Even having the two bots posed in the same modes standing next to each other on my shelves, I'd forgive someone for thinking they were two completely different toys. Amazing work, lad. Amazing.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.
