Aww man, I was hoping for a jumbo-sized Rodimus. But hey, guess they're finally keeping them in scale. I'm pretty sure Grimlock and Rodimus were about the same height in the cartoon. Most likely not.
They call me “Tanker Chungus”!

DavidT wrote:They probably didn't leave the trailer out cause they can no longer use 'Hot Rod' anymore. He's known as 'Rodimus' or 'Rodimus Prime' now... Having Rodimus without the trailer would probably make the figure to small or less desirable in the MP line and it may be hard for them to just sell a trailer byitself later on... there's still the possibility we will get a 2-in-1 with the MP Rodimus. They are releasing him with a trailer because that's what they decided would profit best for them.
They don't have removable fists or trigger crotch because like I said, these are modern day versions of G1 characters with modern day technology used in their designs. G1 toys were inferior in robot mode because they focused more on their Alt. modes... Now we are getting figures that are more accurate to their cartoon robot and Alt. modes, without sacrificing either form, hence MASTERPIECE... Obviously there was no way to incorporate Rodimus's trailer into his robot mode without severely stepping away from an accurate robot mode, so they did like the G1 toy, and there's nothing wrong with that.
We want them to be more accurate to the cartoon as much as possible, but sometimes they are probably gonna have to borrow designs from the G1 toy.
I didn't mean leave out the trailer, I meant incorporating that extra mass into the robot mode instead of having it a separate gun platform. Like the titanium version of him.

I personally couldn't care if he were to have a Hot Rod mode. It still doesn't take away from the overall excitement of this figure. I'm looking forward to seeing some paint on this guy and more photos. You just know there's gonna be some more surprises coming from this figure.

The biggest curiosity I have is if that outrageous $200 price tag is going to come down any. I kind of wonder if putting it at that price initially, and if it did well with pre-orders, if that will lead to it staying where it's at, or higher than it would've been even if it does come down some.
I also think they should have given it a few more features to set it apart, but I guess the main figure is the real draw,it does seem to have extra bits a rodimus convoy doesn't need.

I think they're just waiting for the right time to reveal it. This is actually the first time it was shown off officially, we are just lucky that someone took pictures of it before.

Grimlock towered over Optimus Prime who was the same height at Ultra Magnus who was the same height as Rodimus Prime. But maybe Grimlock appeared the same height as Rodimus later. The scale in the cartoon is known to drift.

Man when i first heard about a potential Hot rod masterpiece the first thing that popped into mind was his g1 figure. Then his classics version. But now that i see these pics of him, im so salivating for him. Im just soooo curious how we get both Rodimus and hotrod. I hope its a simple transformation. Im aso kinda curious which version of the classics that the fans project upgrade for him. meaning which color scheme. The OG classics or the one that just came out in the challenge at cybertron 3 pack. Btw, I actually kinda want the movie mp starsream. The rotf leader class is probably one of the best movie figs. Its surprisingly sturdy in alt mode.
I dunno why they'd incorperate Roddy's trailer into his bot mode. He could never be cartoon accurate that way. And I mean *at all*, he'd be completely and totally different.
Fun fact: the original model of Roddy had his entire trailer on his back as a HUGE backpack.
The scale thing ... I think it's time to get over it. We've known that new molds wouldn't be in scale with Prime since Starscream. If it matters so much to anyone they can purchase Faith Leader.
Anybody think there is a clue to both Hot Rod and Rodimus in the prototype pictures? Some show the crotch plate as solid plastic while other pictures show it as clear plastic. Unless they are using two different prototypes that could be an indication of Hot Rod mode.
Watch the first of my youtube series, Friends Transform.
The waist peice on those pictures worries me. Unlike Optimus, it isn't segmented ... you'll notice Roddy's doing the splits in those pics. It looks like there's a hinge, so maybe the whole thing can flap out, like Energon Roddy. If it doesn't it looks like there's a lot of wasted posability in the legs.

I've been wondering the same thing the last couple days

Rodimus the Prime wrote:Can anyone do a size comparison with MP-Optimus and the G1 Rodimus figure, just to try and gauge how the two MP Primes will measure up?
He will be pretty much the same size as MP Grimlock... If you have MP Prime & Mp Grimlock you will be able to tell for yourself. Also, go to the 3rd post from the bottom on page 2 of this thread has a good size comparison shot (not with MP Prime though)
