Prime Losing His Flames In Transformers Sequel?
I found this on the AICN website:
http://www.aintitcool.com/node/34200
The author of this article, Merrick, states that he's "heard rumors that there will be no flames on Optimus this time". Where did Merrick hear these rumors from?

Firstly it's unlikely they'll change the design of the original robots. If they do two problems occur:
- Difficult for audience to deal with new designs AND completely new robots. We'd get no character development because it'd just be too complex for a two hour film.
- Do you know how much it costs to create CGI models? A lot. A real lot. A heck of a lot. Big moneys. Again, they couldn't spend money making new robots if they decided to redesign the old ones.
Secondly, movie Prime is as he is, STOP WHINING.
This isn't G1, Prime doesn't NEED to be flameless, I and quite a few other people LIKE the flames so the designers would really be wasting money if they got rid of them. It would also make the cab look less realistic, most trucks like that have some sort of design and flames makes Prime fit in and look shiny (in both the dictionary sense of the word and the Firefly sense).

Actually, he looked awesome with Flames. They work well with his movie design (who is also one of the best, if not THE BEST!)

How come such a big deal got made about the flames in the first place i wonder?

I'm still getting used to the fact that the 1986 movie takes place 3 years in the past now.

Some people just don't like or want change period even such a pretty small detail as that which had zero impact on the movie itself as far as getting in the way of the rest of the film...it was just more fuel for the haters to hate with.
It's not like it was such a major distraction or a blatantly obnoxious color change like pink, orange yellow or non traditional optimus prime color scheme to begin with.
I thought the flames worked very well and blended in with his overall design.

Laser Prime also had flames, and it looked awesome on it, so I didn't have anything against Primes flame design.

Yeah but Laser Prime was released at a time when people couldn't sit behind their computers and continuously complain about it for years and years.

LOL I miss the mid 90s, a much more innocent time.

We have technology to thank for that.

Who says I'm whining? The emotions some people will put into my post!

Honestly, I have nothing against Prime's flames. I just thought this article was interesting and wanted to post it. Nothing more.
If true, maybe Prime looses his flames not to appeal to fans. Perhaps he needs a new paint job, because he is on the run and hiding. Who knows. Maybe they give him different colors. (Please, not orange and purple!) Or perhaps he is still red and blue, but with a new design.

Re: Prime Losing His Flames In Transformers Sequel?
I'm wondering if the bots will keep the same robot modes for the sequel simply because of Hasbro's toyline. But then again I guess thats not a big deal for hasbro, they'll just throw some paint on real quick and call it a new toy! God hasbro sucks sometimes.
