I don't think they showed enough of Prime and Megatron fighting and everytime they showed them fighting Prime was getting knocked down

Oh I think they showed just enough. Are you kidding? They showed at least 10 minutes of Optimus and Megatron fighting. They also had to put other bots as well so that was the reason that took out some of the Optimus Prime vs Megatron scenes.

I know what you mean, I was surprised at how much he was getting beaten up, and even in the end it was Sam who killed Megatron. I guess it's a change of things, in the cartoon it always felt like Optimus could manhandle Megatron easily. I guess even a boxer has ups and downs, wins and losses, doesn't matter how strong you are, you will have an off day. Buy boy did Prime get his butt whooped, I hope he has more stature in the next movie, he gave off a real weak vibe in this movie, except for the scene where he killed the one Decepticon with his sword. His face gives off a real weak look though, like he's sick or sad, I guess he is though since Cybertron is dying.

It may surprise some guys but Optimus has always been portrayed this way. If he became some brutal killing machine he just wouldn't be Optimus Prime.

That's right, nobody has ever been owned as badly as Bonecrusher was.

Hollywood used to set up this kind of final battle.

The bad guys always dominate the fighting, but will surely be defeated at the end.

There wouldn't have been as much drama to the fight if Optimus dished it out as good as he got, and then Megatron was destroyed the way he was. It would've caused most people to say "hang on, if Optimus Prime could kick Megatron's ass that well, why did they need Sam to destroy Megatron with the Allspark?"

Optimus Prime needed to be the underdog, especially in the last few minutes of the fight for the ending to have more of a punch, and like lodelco said, Optimus Prime and the Autobots in general need to be in a fix more often than not.

They showed loads of Prime and Megatrons fight however you could see any of it due to Bays frenetic 'visual style'. The whole film was like that.

Very true Optimus has always been physically weaker than Megatron. It's his strength of Characters that makes him someone for the other Autobots to look up to not, as with Megatron, his physical prowess. The movie actually portrayed this rather well.

In fact Optimus Prime vs Megatron was one of the longest fights and so was Autobots vs Brawl.

Oh yeah.
But Prime wasnt that weak in G1 and the other series.

In fact, in most series Prime could at least handle and take on Megatron.

I actually wonder how Prime could be 'physically' weaker than Megatron. Did he go to the gym less back on Cybertron, or was he more of the nerdy type while Megatron was more of the bully hardass type?

I mean, Optimus must have been powerful since he co-ruled Cybertron. And Megatron was once a goodie. So why the significant disparity in power? Is Megatron simply built better than Prime? Or has Prime not been working out enough?

The only time Prime stood his ground and was able to hit back at Megatron was when... Sam was crawling thru the rubbles!

Unfortunately, during this rare golden moment, the one and only most important moment of the epic battle... Bay was, egad!, focusing on Sam crawling thru the rubbles!

This was also the moment when Prime dished out his most famous line, "One shall stand, one shall fall!"

With this single piece of missed opportunity, i would have fired the director from the set right away! No questions asked. Never to ever hire him again.

Sadly, Speilberg kept Bay. And didn't even exert any effort to have that scene corrected.

In the video game Prime takes the allspark in hand and leaps into the air slamming into Megatrons chest, much cooler looking then the movie.

I can't get the game to work yet. I'm stucked in gamepad configuration section. After assigning keys to more than a hundred different actions, it resets itself! Arrrgh! Then i do it again, and it resets itself again! Kept on repeating the process the whole night for 6 hours. And it resets itself again!

I've always heard in just about any continuity that Megatron is almost constantly upgrading and augmenting himself to become stronger. That stems from Megatron's philosphy of only the strong surviving. I doubt Prime is that obsessive.

but really, after all these centuries, I'm sure Prime has also built himself into a stronger fighter. I know character bios don't mean squat, but Leader Prime says, 'He has fought for centuries, modifying his body into an unstoppable war machine, preparing for the day he knows is coming when he and Megatron meet for one final battle!'

And he wasn't frozen in ICE for a thousand years... whats he been doing all this time...

Well... considering Optimus and Bonercrusher had a little rumble at the highway, he could probably be at a... reduced state, not 100% tip-top shape, ready to whoop Megatron.

and then he got beaten around, because of civilians/humans.

Optimus Prime wouldn't be Optimus if he didn't care for the humans at all.
He had to do his best to keep Megatron from killing humans, even if it could mean being more on the defensive, than on the offensive.

Prime thought Megs will be frozen in ice forever. So he started a weight lost program. Since he won't be needing his metal muscles anymore. Or so he thought.

Prime, sadly, never realized that the Cube could be used to kill Megatron too....

Prime is fat and unfit.

and Megatron is ugly but powerful makes no sense because I remeber this one episode where Prime whipped Megatron's ass

Prime and Megs are equals. The difference lies in that Megatron doesn't give a rats butt about the humans, whereas Prime was careful not to stop on, or crush anyone while fighting. Makes it a lot harder to fight when you're trying to minimize the damage done to what is around you.
