Question about the car chase

Postby Agent 007 » Sun Nov 18, 2007 6:25 pm

Sence I haven't started driving quite I have a question reguarding the Barricade BB chase. Could a 77 camaro outrun a Saleen Mustang? Something tells me it couldn't, but Im not sure of the horsepowers.I just think that the Camaro would easily be pasable, can anyone help me out? :???:

In real life....perhaps not unless the camaro has been modified

But in the movie we see that Bumbleebee has a super sleek powerful engine, which really doesn't matter anyway cuz he's a robotic alien from outerspace

Bumblebee's engine is extremely awesome, said Mikaela when she looked at the engine.

It depends. If you mean the BB Camaro, than possibly. If not (unless it has been modified) yeah right.
Of course, it's the driver, not the car.

Its actually a supercharger in Barricade, and the "high rise double pumper" carb, are a dime a dozen. That mustang would eat that 77 Camaro. The engine that was showed in Bumblebee was also a fuel injected engine, so that means the "double pumper carb" would be a hugh automotive flaw in the movie.

Just another piece of gee wiz info--Bumblee was actually a GTO with the new Camaro body panels on it.

The way I see it, the engines are inconsequential. They are both just disguises for Cybertronians. The difference between the Saleen Mustang and the Camaro are probably more or less the difference in Barricadde and Bemblebee's abilities. Think more along the lines of athletes outperforming each other.

If your just refering it to being a movie line I will completly agree with you, but if it is car for car in real life, your dead wrong.

No, I meant that these guys aren't really cars so it just boils down to Barricade and Bumblebee's abilities as to whether one can outrun the other.

More info - Barricade- The filming cars had all the dressups that a 281 gets, but still retained the stock Mustang GT engine, so he was only cranking 300hp. The 76 Camaros on the other hand all had new 330hp 350ci crate motors dropped in with the aforementioned fuel injection. So technically the Camaros did have more power. :) How that chassis handled with it, I don't know. The body was probably squealing and twisting.

I think it was because bumblebee was the good guy and he was a Chevy that HAD to beat a Ford. IMO.

that camaro motor Had ITB's and if im not mistake a prototype TBI intake manifold from a few years back.
i would say the motor under the hood when she opens it would be pushing over 400Hp easly with that setup.

the Saleen was a 281 delivered from Saleen, and if im not mistaken it too is over 400hp with the Supercharger.
you can hear the Superchared engine in the move. Saleen engines sound like sex.

its a drivers race with those cars, but i would bet on Barricade since it is newer and was designed for the power it wields.

best damn answer so far!!!!

and to answer the TBI question, that was a bone stock 350 CID motor, it was clearly stated in the auction and there was noting prototype on it.. The problem is the motor they showed in the movie is VERY different from what is actually in there. CamaroZ28.com had a complete discussion of the differences and the manufactuer of the better motor.
