Full disclosure: It is not yet clear if these actually include new toys of Scoutrobo and Condor Cybertron Mode (Anime Type) or if it's just collector cards of them that are included.

Good to know, but this is the first look at these.

There's two of them?!
The cassettes being just illustration cards would be a crime against humanity. Or at the very least a cheeky tease.
Any mention on price before the official pre-order date?

I truly hope we don't have to wait to D-16 for Megatron.

Full reveals are up, and the cassettes are real. Since the MP cassettes are backwards compatible, maybe we're meant to use those?

Price is eye watering. 30,800 Yen for D-01 toy version with Autoscout.

While the Anime Version with CybertronianLaserbeak is somehow a slightly more palatable 25,300 Yen.

Don't think I can justify that price. I already canceled Magnus in favor of Grimlock, bur 30K seems out of all reason.

Wait, what? Both those prices are MP range. Save a little more and you can get the just-released MPG Soundwave.

Okay, I'll ask. What's the justification for the price difference?

Preorders Open for Two Versions of Missing Link Soundwave with Two New Tapes

Posted by Emerje Wed Aug 05, 2026 9:48 am

Motto: "Spellcheck's antithesis."
Weapon: Saw-Edged Pincer
Missing Link Soundwave has been revealed through Japanese retailers and Takara Tomy and like a few select others he'll be coming in two different versions and each include all new tapes! D-01 Soundwave will be in his original toy colors and include a new Autoscout (Scout Robo in Japan) from the episode A Prime Problem for around $160 after discounts in February. D-02 Soundwave (Anime Type) is in his cartoon colors and includes Laserbeak (Condor) in his Cybertron mode for around $127 in March. Deco aside, both figures are the exact same mold and come with the exact same accessories of headphones, tape case, decoder cards and other paperwork just like the original Japanese release. The price discrepancy is likely due to the added paint applications and chrome on D-01. As is the point with the line, both figures have a ton of extra articulation not found on the same like double jointed elbows and knees, ankle tilts and full shoulder movement but do not appear to have a waist swivel.

These will likely be available through Hasbro Pulse like most Missing Link releases, but below are some Japanese retailers also selling.

D-01 Soundwave AmiAmi, HLJ, Hobby Search, Amazon Japan

D-02 Soundwave (Anime Style) AmiAmi, HLJ, Hobby Search, Amazon Japan

Are you getting both, neither or maybe just one? Let us know in the Seibertron Energon Pub forums!

Missing link is so lovely, but those prices, ouch.

I am starting to fear I may slow down or drop the line with the pricing, especially with the sour taste of Magnus still in my mouth

Is it possible that the toy version has die cast?

Both versions should have the exact same amount of die cast as has been the case with all Missing Links thus far.

FINALLY, an official Autoscout! How long has it been since we got the third 3P version form KFC? (And was that the last?)

Interesting that it means getting Missing Link Ravage's missiles before he gets an ML toy himself. The Autoscout was Frankensteined together from his and Rumble's model sheets, but the Rumble/Frenzy guns would look awkward plonked on its sides.

At the risk of counting cyber-chickens before they hatch, this has me anticipating ML Cobalt Sentries!

And Soundwave's long lost internal chest door hinge has apparently been resculpted!

It's worth noting that the cards for the cassettes only come with this if you get it off of Takara Tomy Mall. This was also the case for Deerstalker and Powerdrive and I was not paying enough attention to the internet when those POs went up to notice that detail ;_;
