Are they expecting the avengers/TF story to cross over with the maIin G1 story arc? Otherwise this Ramjet oneshot aint going to tie up with the bigger story.

Like the classins model they have used too, looking forward to this.

I don't know much about the coneheads (if G1 came before your time, it can be a bit hard to remember who's whom when viewing it), but I s'pose it could be interesting.

I'm more interested, though, in who is going to be in the next spotlights. :)

IDW mentioned that the cast of NA/TF would be the guys who appeared in "Infiltration", plus one character on the Decepticon side who would make his first and only appearance in that title. It wouldn't bother me all that much since NA/TF is being kept out of canon for the most part, something this Spotlight seems to throw out.

I would think they'd go for someone that fans would love to see get killed... like Wheelie. :P But I've been wrong before.

I noticed that too. The Classics Ramjet is one of my favorite figures from that line.

I always loved crazy con Ramjet. I hope the other five spotlights include: Grimlock, Jetfire, Starscream, Alpha Trion and Soundblaster, but I'll buy whatever they come up with anyway.

What seems to be confusing me is that they only mention that decepticon who would only appear in the TF/NA crossover. You can see a pic of him on the idw thread where the cover was put up by Ryall. Now, before we even see this new (blue) con, we find out ramjet will not only be in the TF/NA crossover as well, but he will be getting a spotlight issue by the author to boot. Now, am i confused or did i miss an announcement or something. Because WTF is going on?, and how did it get so confusing?

And love/hope for punch/counter punch getting 2 of those five spotlights in '08, he is two different bots afterall.

To make Ramjet, Thrust, and Dirge look different from Skywarp, Starscream, and Thudercracker. In the underwater battle from "The Ultimate Doom part 1" you can't tell Skywarp
Thundercracker, and Starscream apart visually only through their voices and which why you can't tell if was Thundercracker or Skywarp who became Scrouge in TF:TM (because Bombshell became Cyclonis).

The Transformers/Avenger crossover takes place in the IDW G1 continuity.

What, the wings aren't enough? I thought they were a dead giveaway. I can live with the coneheads in the cartoon, but I've never liked it, and I'd never transform my G1 figs like that because they look ridiculous. The Classics fig looks better with the conehead, because it's been specifically designed that way, but I still prefer 'em without.

That aside, I'm well chuffed that Ramjet's got a Spotlight; of all the second generation Seekers, I think he's certainly the most interesting (depending, of course, on how IDW play him)...
Although I'd love to see Dirge get one at some point, too.

They said it takes place in continuity between infiltration and escalation, but the events that take place have no effect what-so-ever, so it's in, but it doesn't really matter one way or the other, unless of coarse this ramjet spotlight screws up all of that.

Fair enough, I did think it was odd that IDW would allow Marvel to mess with their well crafted Furmanverse too much.

Not that it matters, the Tf/Avengers crossover will probably be retconned/pretended that it never existed in a short space of time anyway.

It depends on what you mean by screw up. If you mean deeply impact the series with major events taking place in spotlight ramjet i'd say 70/30 against just because of the majore fan input and Ryall's previous statements before these issue's come out. But as far as small references that don't make critical differences in the plot line; well, i expect those to be most likely the case. But i think that whatever plotlines he contributes to oould be pulled off without his presences.

I'm sorry, why Ramjet? I hardly remember him.. I'm sure he's cool and all, but why him? And why he is compared to ThunderCracker as faves? Not to be disrepectfull, but did I miss something? Is something special about Ramjet? Well,I'm buying this spotlight, learn something new everyday I guess. I'm sorry if I sound ignorant, but I am at this point.

Probably not, my guess is someone had a hard on for the toy when they were a kid. Basically we've reached a point where TF's need some new stuff. So the choice is reinvent the old or move onto something new. Well, they've reinvented for 2 years almost now, things are expanding(topics and involved hands) and we happen to have a head writer with a nack for inventing deep characters from almost blank slates. So my (i'd like to think educated) guess is someone liked the toy/character for no special reason (not personal toward whomever) and the creative team said go with it, we'll see what you do and tell you what we think. This is a time of reinvention for TF's, so if you're just getting in its a good time, and if you're an old fan you have something new to see.

I don't think he was based on a "hard on" as you so elequently stated. This is simply a story, a one time story arc to help build up a character for later use in the timeline. The guys at IDW have been great making use of the "normal" characters and giving them a little something special.

:-? Please forgive my lack of gentile refinement, was the end of a night that included many friends and wateringholes. I simply meant that ramjet is the spotight with the least obvious reason for choosing that character. As you said they needed a character to open up storylines, and someone one the project probably said, "Let's use Ramjet, I always liked him."
