This is exactly what I was going to say to you. I'd rather army build than have 2 Galvs also. I do appreciate you pointing out that set, and you're right about the Japanese secondary market. Good good. So its not really that you wish you had that set, its more that you wished you had that set but now that another one has come along that works better for your endeavours then right on! It actually works for my endeavours too. IF I do get that set, then the TR Scourge would be leading the pack of 3 sweeps (the 3 I would own that use the older generations mold) with some still being reformatted

Oh man. This might actually be the most fun Transformobot I have ever played with. The amount of combinations and things he can transform into is mind boggling, and I'm sure there's going to be a tonne of ridiculous fan-mode'ing going around. He kinda feels like MP Starsaber but with 10 times the refinement, and the fact that he pulls it off at the fraction of the size is bewildering. And his little people? They make the MP Spike (from MP10) look like a pathetic piece of melted butter that doesn't deserve to be made of the same plastic. And I haven't even started on the robot mode!

Only one pic for now (feelin under the weather) but I wanted to off his posability. Look at those legs! I bet you'd be hard pressed to find a pose he can't do. He's like, the yoga instructor of Robotrons. And he is solid and sturdy as all hell.
Just an absolute dream.

He looks ALLSOME! The kicker for me is he arrived at the Omaha postal hub at 3AM today, but for some dumb reason he didn't make it to my branch for delivery. Tommorrow is DI-A-CLONE Day!
Edit: Just checked tracking. You know why he didn't make it to my branch? Because he went to the wrong one!

I've been thinking a lot about what I want to buy as opposed to what actually end up buying. FT's Reflector and TFC's Predaking have been on the want list FOR EVAR. But they're continuously set aside for the "dealz" or pre-orders. I was just about to buy a Moon Base, but quickly realized that UW Bruti and MP Loudmouth were actually quickly coming on the horizon.
Does this happen to you guys as much as it does me?

It doesnt happen to me actually. We seem to have a very different way of collecting. I dont have any pending orders and I pay for everything on the spot when I want it. For my japanese preorders (MP and UW and Legends), I now deal only with Anime Export. They do me a solid by lowering the disclosed value of toys so that avoids me extra taxes which as you can attest can make a big difference. And for them you pay right away. So if I want a preorder I have to make room in my budget now. Thats worked out well since I suck at remembering things so its easier to plan a budget for me. As for Hasbro releases, you know my trick: rain or shine when there is a deal I get a raincheck. I have all the SKU numbers with me and I ask for a raincheck like that if ever I spot a new wave that uses the same SKU, I just buy it. But thats the thing, I end up waiting for things to come to tru. So this wait does space things out even though I can buy something new the moment i see it in a store. That too helps me manage. And I list out my priorities. So for instance, Fort Max is at the bottom, with the G2 sets just a bit above him. And I just wait for deals. For the G2s, I am not budging till I see them at 75$ and I am waiting til Fort Max shows up at costco. So having those guidelines also helps me manage.
I also keep a nice little want list on the side and wait for the opportunity to get at the price I know I can get it at. It might take a loooooooooong time but it usually presents itself. With the jungle, things are a bit easier than I would have thought. Hell, I could have waited just 3 months more and gotten an animated ratchet locally for cheaper than the Takara version I bought from them but at that point, I dont worry too much since I bought him at the price I wanted. I also thought I wouldnt own those wave 4 CW figures but its hard to argue when they get below the 10$ mark, especially with our current exchange.
So thats my system. I only get stuff when I have the money but I usually do since I wait for the retail stuff and toys on my list to be at the price I set myself. The only stuff it doesnt work on are TTMall exclusives because of their global distribution model with Hasbro Asia and our poorly placed country. And stuff like Loudpetal.
Sorry if I bored anyone with this. One fun thing though, it encourages the local hunt

You know, not really. Well more so lately since I decided to take a light dip in the 3P pool. Those Toyworld dinos keep getting put on the back burner for official stuff, and honestly I've become a little disenchanted with them. I love the aesthetic of them, and on the whole they are solid figs, but I've had some QC issues that make me question their high prices. But. I digress.askjaki wrote: *WAFFLING*... then... I tend not to back paddle. I have done more lately, like Botcon was a extravagant trip upstream. I have a lot of old toys. A LOT! And, not being a completionista, or needing a lot of duplicates of molds really helps in this regard. Example: One shall stand yadda yadda Platinum set. It looks so COOL! That Megatron is the hot dopeness, but there is NO reason I need that set. I'm perfectly content with the versions I do have. Although I won't sleep til Cary has that set in his grimy little Southern paws!
I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm able to focus on the forth coming. With strategic pre-ordering and mild budget control, I keep my eye on the future. Patience plays a huge roll too. Like waiting for G2 Menasor to drop to a good sale price. Patience has also kept me away from the 3P realm. I know that eventually Hasbro will get around to it. The last few years have reinforced this for me, i.e. Legends Class, and CW. Plus, and not sure why, but official is more important to me.

Sadly, when it comes to 3p, the high prices are not indicative of quality. The prices are high because they dont capitalize on economies of scale and thus have to charge more to recove their production costs. They also have a higher parts count usually (which is sometimes to their detriment).

I have most of the wants.
I have some of the buys.
I have some of the regrets.
If I purchased every figure I really kept an eye on (3rd party specifically) I'd have at least 10 more $100+ figures with no where to display them. I've determined I'm better off being patient as Master Cobotron has stated. In the interim, I'll buy the Titan Wars and maybe some Transformers Prime figures and some ReproLabels if there's too much of a lull in releases.
I just can't wait for my HeadmastersTitan Masters (ESPECIALLY TAKARA FORT MAX!!)!!!!

Happening to me right now. I so very much want Toyworld's Devestator offering, as I feel they have the best looking one yet, but I keep hesitating. The official Devestator looks good enough in combined form, but the individual combaticons are just to simple for thier size for me to bite. I really think Hasbro should have made them deluxes. Yet, its only, at worst, a quarter the cost of a 3rd Party Devy. I hesitate.
I also want MP Ratchet, but I know a KO or good sale/ebay price will show up eventually, so I hesitate at paying full price for a repaint, even if its a repaint I really like.
I loved the look of Badcube's Brawn, but I thought he cost too much for his size, so I didn't get him. Now he goes for so much more. Hesitation sucks.
So no, my friend, you are not the only one.

Rhinox, Rattrap and Waspinator are also show exclusives for that show and they already came out at BBTS. And just being sure cobo, what do you mean by favourite e-tailers? Amiami and the other japanese stores wont be carrying these. Wherever the preorders for Loudmouth are right now is where you can get him.
