All this talk about mascots lately got me thinking.... and closest thing that's come to a mascot for me would be this guy:

I have 3 of these guys. 1 at home, 1 at work, and 1 in my car. I've never bought the same figure that many times for no reason (other than really liking it :lol:

). And I just thought... with all my Dinobot love I should really have one of them in the office!

Vortex is a really cool guy. the mold is good overall, and the paintwork is pretty cool as well. He's just pretty awesome!

So I bought the Galvatron helmet from Reorolabels. Honestly, I have mixed feelings. I think it photographs better than it looks in hand, as to the naked eye the purples are ever so slightly off, and its just a hair bigger than I'd like. And compared to Renderform's recent reveal of his own replacement head, I don't know. For 25 USD, I gotta say I'm not happy with the results. Might just be me, but I don't recommend it.

I bought this Repro helmet just a couple days before the Renderform ones were shown. I would have easily passed on it after seeing Azim's. The size's are good, each one comes with 3(?) faces, there's a G1 and IDW version, he comes in both Hasbro and Takara colors, and depending on which version you choose you can get a G1 styled gun or an axe to accompany it. I'm definitely getting at least one.

I don't have this TR incarnation, but my stand-in is DX9's Tyrant. He used to be on display but the kids (3&6) liked his laser-pointer plasma cannons way too much lol

These gems are from 3 different local fellas.

I saw Logan in theaters. While it was fantastic, it wasn't what I thought it would be.

I saw GOTG2 a couple weekends ago, different but just as good as the first.

And last weekend I saw Alien Covenant. Which I have thoughts, but that's a longer post I'll save for later if anyone's interested :lol:

It's been a long journey. I bought Nemean (Razorclaw) the day it was released, and only just last week received the last piece Aethon. I don't know why I dragged my feet so hard, but now that he's finally complete I find myself deeply satisfied. He's pretty difficult to keep standing, but thats typical of a 3P combiner for some reason. In closing, damn. I love it.

MMC or WB? I had MMC's Compy, and it was the most unnecessarily complicated transforming toy I've ever handled. I've since sold him 8-}

Alien Covenant....
I can't say I didn't like it, because I absolutely did. But it's one goal (to me) ends up being it's greatest strength and greatest weakness: laying out in black and white, the Xenomorph's (as we know them) origin. The way they did it was good, but not what I expected and now the mystery (which is part of the horror) is gone.

Basically, the android David from Prometheus, for lack of better description, created the Xenomorph we know through selective engineering. What he calls a "perfect organism". He and Shaw found the "Engineers" home planet(?), I assume he'd already killed Shaw, and unleashes the bio-weapon onboard to their populace, decimating them. He then remains there (because he's stuck? I'm not sure) for 10 years before a new wayward crew of humans find him by accident. They land to investigate and through cause and event instigate the awakening of some other primitive versions of Xenomorph's and are picked off one by one. A handful remain and run into David, he gives them shelter appearing to be a nice fella (even to another David unit named Walter) until he's revealed to be the architect of this new string of Xenomorph. Walter and David fight while the humans scramble to escape, and they pull a switcharoo just before they're all safely away. I'm leaving a lot out, but it end with David escaping the planet and in charge of the human ship, and stowing away a handful of Xeno embryos, on the way to some planet the crew was originally intending to terroform.

I was left with a few questions....
-The "primitive" Xeno was spread and impregnated through cracking small eggs and being air-born. How is that less perfect than David's creation? My niece (who I saw it with) pointed out that the facehugger can go straight through a space helmet (ie: Alien 1) but still. Airborn things seem much scarier no?
-They show David releasing the bioweapon in the Engineers city square, a successful sneak attack since it's one of their ships, they don't fight back so the ship must still be functional, but the ship is found by the terrorforming crew up in the mountains pretty far away from the city. Why did he move it? Why did he not leave? If the ship works then he's not stranded, but he stays there for 10 years?
-It's clear that David was disillusioned with his creators, but what did he have against the Engineers?
-Did the Engineers only have one settlement on this entire planet? Or did David do this to whatever cities they had there? If so then it seems like that would be a too big of a campaign for him to handle.

Honestly, I was hoping to find out more about the Engineers (they were literally a foot note) and not the Androids. So again, great movie, but not what I was expecting.

I want to talk lots about the Alien Franchise, so I made it it's own thread

I'm move back to toys. Let's talk about Mirage and Jazz.
MMC's Sphinx's. He looks the look, but I gotta say I'm not in love with the mold. The panels on his biceps get in the way, his shoulder cannon isn't solid and gets in the way of his head, and just feels kinda loose in general. Not KO loose, just not as solid as he should be. Although I AM particularly taken with the head sculpt on the Diaclone red, and the invisible version is undeniably gorgeous.

Jazz is hard to transform but is clever, particularly the hood chest. He looks great, and is crazy solid. Although he doesn't feel as posable as I've seen in pics, but maybe I'm just doing it wrong :lol:

The bow was dope AF, but he looked so thin without it on his back so I always had it there.

Never was a He-Man fan, but there were some figures released in the early 2000's(?) that looked like J Scott Campbell art I thought were pretty enticing :-?
